AN: Like I said before I want to finish this by the new year which means I will be updating a lot in the next month and a half. Once again anything you recognize is JK Rowling's anything you don't is mine.
Sirius POV
Hermione slept fitfully on the bed. She had been asleep for the past five hours. Whatever Fleur had given her had been something for her bones to repair and for her to sleep. Unfortunately the one thing Fleur didn't know how to get rid of were her bruises. They were starting to appear along her arms and throat. As if someone had tried to choke her.
I absently ran my fingers over the knife would in her neck. Apparently Theodore had been willing to slice into my wife repeatedly with a knife and wanted her. Just the thought of him touching her like that made my blood boil with rage. He was lucky Draco had killed him. I wouldn't have been as kind as to use Avada Kedavra.
"Sirius?" I looked up from Hermione's neck towards Harry and Ron who were standing in the doorway.
"What can I help you with Harry?" I asked standing up from the bed slowly and stretched. My back popped and I sighed. Must have been in the same position too long.
"Since Hermione can't help us and you know what we're doing would you help us?" Harry asked avoiding my eyes. The anxiety and guilt was rolling off of him in waves.
"Of course, why don't we talk in here." I said nodding to the foot of the bed. Both boys walked over and sat on the edge of the bed being careful not to touch Hermione. No they weren't boys anymore. Sometime in the last week I had been away they had changed. Their eyes had a more haunted look to them and neither had smiled once. I couldn't blame them for it either. Everything just became more real. Just how easily they could die.
"I think there's a horcrux in Bellatrix Lestrange's vault." I froze and looked up at Harry.
"Are you certain?" I whispered through unmoving lips, my heart pounding furiously in my chest.
"Yes. Bellatrix had been beside herself when she thought we had stolen the sword from her vault. Apparently Snape gave her the fake one, thinking it was real, and she kept it safe in her vault." I blinked. This was my fault. If I hadn't brought them the sword she never would have been tortured. A smaller voice whispered, she just would have been killed.
"But Harry I thought we were looking for places he's been and he never would have had an account because no one left him any money." Ron muttered rubbing his hand over his eyes.
"No he wouldn't have had any money but he would have been envious of anyone who had a Gringotts account. I think he would have seen as officially belonging to the wizarding world, if he had one of those keys. He trusted Bellatrix and Rodolphus explicitly. I think he would have given them the horcrux and asked them to keep it safe." Harry said rubbing his scar. He was pale as a sheet and didn't look good.
"Would he have told them it was a horcrux?" I asked running my hands through my hair.
"No." Harry said quickly shaking his head. "He never told Lucius Malfoy the diary was a horcrux. I bet he told them it was a treasured possession and asked them to place it in their vault."
"Merlin." I whispered dropping my head into my hands.
"You really understand him." Ron said in a hushed voice.
"Bits of him," said Harry. "Bits . . . I just wish I'd understood Dumbledore as much."
"What do you mean?" I asked looking between the two of them. Ron blew out a heavy breath and Harry ran his hand through his hair.
"The Deathly Hallows are real." I froze my eyes widening in shock.
"What do you mean they're real?" I asked my heart in my throat. "I thought it was just a kids story."
"Oh they're real all right we just finished talking to Ollivander about it." Harry said his voice thick.
"And what did he say?" I asked.
"He only knew about the Elder Wand. Ollivander told him about the twin cores of our wands and the fact that we can't fatally kill each other because of it. First he tried a different wand, one of his fellow Death Eater's wands but my wand broke it."
"How -?"
"No idea." I frowned, I had never heard of a wand doing that. "But You-Know-Who went to look for it, the Elder Wand." Harry muttered rubbing his scar.
"And?" Please Merlin...
"He found it. Gregorovitch, the wand maker, had it. Grindelwald stole the wand from Gregorovitch and –"
"Albus defeated Gregorovitch." I whispered in a hushed voice. Godric! I jumped up without a thought. "We have to go to Hogwarts!"
"Its too late." Harry said rubbing his scar.
"What do you mean its too late?" I asked. We had to get this wand before Voldemort got his hands on it. The last thing we needed was for him to get his hands on it. He would try to take over everything even more than he was now! And he would be able to kill my godson... If he got that wand to work... wait a second. If Albus and Severus planned his death... the wand would never work for him... Not at full capacety... but it could kill him!
"He already has the wand."
"Harry!" Ron and I yelled at the same time.
"How could you –"
"He could kill you –"
Harry's eyes flashed red. "Dumbledore didn't want us to go looking for the Hallows. Hermione was right we need to look for the Horcruxes. That is the only way he can be killed and the four of us are the only ones who know."
I dropped my head into my hands and sighed trying to forget about the wand. "Okay you said you wanted help?"
"Yes we need to figure out how to break into Gringotts to kill the horcrux." I froze my mouth open in shock. "And we want you to help us figure it out since you will be with us when we break in there."
Adrenalin and excitement rippled through my body. I looked up at the boys and laughed at the nervous expressions on their faces, "I'm in."
