AN: Trying to update as much as possible. Once again anything you recognize is JK Rowling's anything you don't is mine.
I paced back and forth pinching the bridge of my nose. "When were you going to tell me you wanted to adopt Emily?"
"Er..." I turned to glare at Sirius. He ducked his head sheepishly. We had spent the day with mum, dad and Emily. Emily had stuck close to Sirius and I like Velcro. But the thing was I had no idea what to do in this situation.
"Sirius," I sighed tapping my fingers against my leg. "I don't think it would work."
"Why not?" Sirius asked his head snapping up. I sat down on the bed and patted the spot next to me so he would sit down.
"I'm only eight years older than her, I don't really think she could see me as a mother figure." I said slowly as he sat down. "And she does need a mother."
"Sweetheart, from the way I talked about you to her I don't think you'll find it too hard to fit into the role as her mother." Sirius said running a hand through his hair.
"Why?" I asked slowly. sitting up to my full height.
"Well Emily was mostly raised by her mother's sister who was twenty."
"What why?" I asked shocked.
"Emily's mum was an alcoholic and wasn't a very good mother so Sarah, Emily's aunt, raised her as best she could." Another Sarah who did everything they could to help the ones they loved.
"Merlin what a mess." I muttered softly.
"Yeah, when Emily finally told us that Remus and I went to check on her aunt." Sirius said shaking his head. "She was dead. Had been killed by Death Eaters."
"Poor Emily." I muttered wiping a hand against my eyes. "how did she take it when you told her?"
"Not well. She had nightmares and would wake up screaming." She deserved so much better.
"Do you really think this would work Sirius?" I asked my voice soft.
"Yes I do." I nodded and crawled into bed net to Sirius. "She already loves you. I mean she tried to go after Nott with my knife."
"Does she still have nightmares?" I asked placing my head against Sirius' naked chest. He wrapped his arms around me and kissed my forehead.
"Yes, when she does she usually crawls in with me. It usually just takes me singing to her to calm her down." I huffed and scowled.
"Great," I muttered darkly.
"Oh Sweetheart you know I like your singing voice." Sirius said kissing my neck. I shivered and pulled him closer to me.
"That's because you've never heard me sing, not really." I whispered breathily, thoroughly enjoying the delicious feelings that were running through me.
"Then you can sing to Emily the next time she has a nightmare." Sirius whispered biting my neck hard. A deep throaty moan escaped my lips and I nodded as he moved his head lower.
Emily POV
Harry and I were sitting at the table playing a card game. Uncle Remus had dropped me off this morning so I could spend some of the day with Sirius and Hermione but I hadn't seen them this morning yet. "Where did you say Sirius and Hermione are?"
"Er," Harry stuttered his cheeks flushing. "Their taking a nap."
"In the middle of the morning?" I asked surprised.
"Yup!" Harry said with a nod.
"What about Uncle Ron?" I asked placing down some cards.
"Uh he's actually taking a nap too." Harry muttered his cheeks turning even redder.
"Harry are you feeling okay?" I asked looking him over.
"I'm fine Emily." He muttered putting down a card. Dean Thomas, who was reading a book in the corner of the room, threw back his head and laughed.
"Funny book Dean?" I asked placing down two cards.
"Something like that." He said with a little smirk.
"Shut it Dean!" Harry snapped throwing down a card. I looked at Harry and frowned at the glare he was giving Dean. Dean gave Harry a dark look then turned back to his book. I had a feeling I was missing something but I had no idea what it was.
Severus POV
"He has the Elder Wand Albus." I muttered nursing a large glass of Firewhiskey. The Dark Lord had asked to come onto the grounds. When he thought I had gone he had opened Albus' tomb and took the wand. The wand may not work for him but it could kill Harry and that made me nervous. Because after everything Harry needed to die.
"Severus you already told me that." Albus said from his portrait. Had I? I didn't remember that...
"Are you sure?" I asked slurring the words slightly.
"Yes, I'm sure. I'm also fairly sure that your drunk you should sleep off the alcohol." Albus said tapping his fingers together.
"Oh no, not yet." I said taking a large sip. "The Dark Lord will figure it out soon and come to kill me. It won't take long."
"Severus..." Albus sighed the twinkle gone from his eyes. "I never wanted you to die. You know that, don't you?"
"Of course," I slurred throwing my head back to swallow the rest of the alcohol in my glass. Right now I was really missing my drinking partner. I wonder how they were doing... Sirius wouldn't leave the trio to their own devices anymore. Not after they had gotten captured and Hermione got tortured. The only good thing that happened with that whole thing was that Nott was killed.
"How long do you think it will take the Dark Lord to figure out that the wand won't work for him?" I asked pouring myself another shot.
"He won't realize it until the final fight between him and Harry." Albus said as I sipped on the whiskey.
"At least I'll be able to give him the memories then." I sighed. The drink was finally taking affect. The painless blissfulness that came with the drink made me feel like I was floating. "But I won't pull any memories with Sirius or Hermione... he would never forgive them if he found out."
"Why do you say that?" Albus asked popping a lemon drop into his mouth.
"Because Lily never forgave me for calling her Mudblood and he is his mother's child through and through. He may look like James but he acts like Lily." I muttered staring at the picture of Lily on my desk. She laughed and waved at me.
"I'm glad you can finally see him for who he really is." Yeah... right...
