Welcome back guys to For The love of RWUBY. Today's chapter is one I had buzzing in my mind since Ch. 2. It pairs up Naruto and the strict teacher: Glynda Goodwitch. For this chapter, Naruto is a teacher at Beacon (Kudos to pretty much everyone for calling that).
Let's dive into For The love of RWUBY! Enjoy!
Chapter 8 (The Morning After): Start!
'Ughhhh…hangovers are the worst…' One Naruto Uzumaki said as his eyes slowly opened and he had a hand placed on top of his head. Last night was a special occasion where all the teachers and the headmaster Ozpin got together for a party that included fun, karaoke, and drinking…lots and lots of drinking. Naruto himself was the life of the party. He sung just about ten songs in karaoke and he had downed so much alcohol, resulting in his current condition, hung over and…for some reason naked.
"Okay Naruto, it's just a little hangover…just get out of bed, grab a cup of water and walk it off…" he whispered to himself. He sat up in the bed, hoping that after performing this action, he could start this day off. But when he sat up, his eyes caught something: another lump in his bed.
'Oh god, I can't believe I got so drunk I ended up sleeping with someone…' He berated himself. 'I wonder who it is…' The Uzumaki looked over at the lump and slightly pulled the sheets over to get a glimpse of this person. When he found out whom it was, his skin turned as pale as a ghost.
There, lying right next to him in this bed, with her usually tied up blond hair sprawled all over the pillow, was his coworker Glynda Goodwitch. Naruto gaped at the older woman and blinked in rapid succession, wondering if this was an actual situation he was placed in at this current moment. He spent the next few seconds furiously rubbing his eyes while chanting to himself in hopes that the person he saw wasn't actually her: "Please be an effect of the hangover, Please be an effect of the hangover, Please be an effect of the hangover…" When he stopped rubbing his eyes and looked back at the woman, he mentally screamed.
'OH GOD IT'S NOT AN EFFECT OF THE HANGOVER!' He looked at edge of the bed, then back to Glynda. This process continued five times until he clasped his head in his hands and shook it furiously in confusion. 'How the hell did this happen?!' Was the question roaring in his head at the moment.
'Okay, Naruto: THINK! What happened last night that led to…this? Okay, I was at the party last night…'
One night ago…
Don't stop me nooooooow! I'm having such a good time. I'm having a ball~~
Don't stop me nooooooow! If you wanna have a good time, just give me a call~~
Those were the sounds of Naruto and Peter Port tearing it up on Karaoke. How did it get to this? Well the party so far was quiet, a little too quiet for Naruto's taste so he decided to liven things up with some karaoke. After a couple of songs, Peter joined in, leading to what was going down at the moment. Naruto was singing the chorus to the song while Peter added in.
Don't stop me now (Cause I'm having a good time)
Don't stop me now (Yes I'm having a good time)
I don't want to stop at aaaaaaaalllllll~~~
The end of the song followed up with applause from the staff and things seemed to be a little more energetic now that the two professors stepped off of the stage.
"Naruto, I must say: that was simply a magnificent performance we put on!" Peter exclaimed as he and the blonde sat down on their table and grabbed a drink.
"Yeah Peter, I have to say it was a blast doing. We gotta get back up on there at some point later tonight." Naruto said. Peter in a very merry mood raised his cup in the air.
"Then how about a toast," He offered. "To a most joyous night!"
The whiskered blonde chuckled at the energy the older man seemed to give off and raised his own cup in the air to meet Peter's: "To a most joyous night!" He repeated. The two toasted the away and drank from their cups. Peter downed his glass in mere seconds.
"Whoo! Now that hit the spot. I could use another!" He boasted and quickly grabbed another drink, surprising Naruto.
"Whoa, easy there Pete, the night's still young; we don't want you to lose you early into the party."
"Nonsense my friend! A few of these drinks won't get me drunk!" Peter reassured him. "As a matter of fact, there was once a time where I was a renowned champion drinker!"
"Is that so?" Naruto questioned, trying his hardest to sound interested in whatever "Glory days" story Peter was going to bring up.
"It WAS so!" There wasn't too many that could best me in a drinking contest!"
"Sounds like it was a blast." Said Naruto. "Wish I could've been there to see it."
"Why think about watching it when you could experience it yourself!" Peter proposed as he placed two more drinks on the table.
"I don't know Pete…" Naruto said fully aware of what his fellow professor was suggesting.
"Oh come now, what's the harm of a little competition between friends? Unless of course, you're SCARED?" Peter implied with a little wag of his thick eyebrow. Now that was the question that got Naruto's blood to boil.
"Scared?!" He repeated the word in disgust. "There is NOTHING that Naruto Namikaze Uzumaki is scared of! ESPECIALLY of a drinking contest!"
"If that's the case, then show me your vigor Naruto!" Yelled Peter as he handed the blonde his drink.
"Bring it on!"
15 drinks later…
A small hiccup came out of Peter and with a kind of slur to his voice said: "Theesh ish vury impresshish Naruto. You've done vury well…keeping up…with my drunking—drinking…prosherewsh…prowressh..."
"Is the word you're trying to say prowess Pete?" Naruto asked, completely unfazed by the amount of alcohol he'd consumed."
"Errr THAT'SHH the one!" He shouted. "It remiindsh me…of the time when…me and one of my colleagues did this exact thang and…the two of us were…rupapaaaa" Was all Peter could say after he passed out face first on the table he and Naruto sat in.
"Yep." Was all Naruto said after a few seconds of staring at his druken coworker and finishing the rest of his drink. He turned to face Oobleck and said: "You might want to take him home."
After the professor did so, Naruto just sat in his chair and absorbed his surroundings and what was going on in the party. That was until he came face to face with a scowling woman. Recognizing who it was, he gave her a very cheeky grin.
"Evening to you, Glynda." He greeted. The scowl that remained on Glynda Goodwitch's face showed that she was not happy with the informal way he spoke to her.
"I'd prefer Professor Goodwitch, Professor Uzumaki." She sternly told him.
"Oh come on, Glynda. It's a party, you've gotta loosen up." The male blonde explained to her.
"I just witnessed your way of loosening up at a party. I'd rather not…"
"Oh you mean that drinking contest with Pete? Hey, I didn't want to, but the guy goaded me into it. It became a matter of pride…" he explained.
"Right, pride…"
"But hey, now that you're here, would you care to join me?" Naruto offered. The older teacher glared at him for a few brief seconds before she finally said:
"I'd rather not…"
"Jeez Glynda, I didn't know you carried that same uptight attitude you have during school hours with you everywhere you go." He joked. Glynda unfortunately didn't take to well to that joke.
"Forgive me for taking things seriously as a mature adult, something you never seem to do." She replied in a condescending tone of voice. It was very easy to miss, but Glynda's left eye had the slightest of a twitch when her fellow blonde had the nerve to pout at her.
"That's very mean Glynda, I can be serious when I want to…" he argued as he stood from his chair and grabbed and went over to the table that had more drinks.
"Please, you're the least serious person I know. You're late to most of the meetings between the staff, you teach classes in a T-Shirt, and you take naps in-between your own classes. Not to mention the unprofessional way you speak to your students."
"Well excuse me for being cool with the kids." Said Naruto.
"Your job isn't to 'Be Cool' with them, it's to train them, make sure they're ready-"
"To protect the world, you shouldn't try to be their friend, it's not about being liked. There anything else I missed?" Was Naruto's snarky remark to the older professor as he poured himself another glass.
Glynda was on the verge of screaming at the male blonde and strangling him. If his smart mouthed remark was any implication, this wasn't the first time they had this discussion about Naruto's style of teaching before, Glynda obviously thinking Naruto saw his position as a professor as a joke and her wanting him to take the job much more seriously. There was honestly no other member of the staff, not even Peter Port, that pushed her buttons the same way Naruto did. To calm herself down, she grabbed a glass and poured her some cherry wine. Why Ozpin thought bringing wine to this party along with other alcoholic beverages was a good idea, she didn't know and didn't bother to wonder why. She just decided to down her glass and already pour herself another one.
"Whoa, thought you were too much of a prude to drink." Teased the whiskered blonde.
"You have that effect on people." Glynda shot back.
"Ouch, my heart." Naruto said in mock hurt. He saw the woman half way done with her second glass and he raised his eyebrow at her. "You should take it a little easy, you don't want to end up like Pete did."
"You have no room to talk about my alcohol consumption. After all, isn't that your twentieth drink?"
"Twenty-second actually, you've got a good point there, but unlike you, I don't have to worry too much about getting drunk thanks to my semblance."
Glynda's ears perked up hearing this news. She didn't know anything about Naruto when it came to his abilities as a Huntsman, so this was something she wanted to know more about "Tell me then Uzumaki: What is your semblance?"
"Advanced healing." Answered Naruto.
"That's nothing special, everyone that can use Aura has advanced healing." Said the skeptical Glynda.
"True, but you can't heal wounds that would kill anyone else with just Aura…"
"What are you getting at, Uzumaki?"
"Naruto looked down at his open right palm and began to explain: "Mortal wounds, severed limbs, I could even have a huge gaping hole in my chest and I'd be able to heal it, almost instantly."
Glynda's eyes widened hearing this. A semblance like that was simply unheard of, and even after hearing it from Naruto's mouth she didn't believe it. Before she could question it, Naruto continued his explanation.
"Of course, the more severe the injury I have, the more Aura it takes for me to use it, which is a very bad thing considering my weapon depends on me using my Aura to use it to its fullest potential. So I can't get to reckless in battle."
"That doesn't exactly explain why it helps with you not getting drunk…" Glynda said.
"Oh well, it helps me heal quickly from hangovers. Not to mention my family's known for having extremely high metabolisms so I to try REALLY hard to get drunk."
"Hm…" was the witch's response after finishing her third glass.
"Now that I've told you a little bit about myself, Can I ask you a question?"
She didn't know if it was the alcohol that had a hand in persuading her answer, but she decided to indulge him: "Sure, what is it you want to ask?" She said.
"Why is it that you became a professor at this Academy?"
Huh? That…was actually a question she didn't get too often from her peers. "It's very simple, I attended Beacon when I was younger. This academy meant a lot to me back then, not only that, but I saw it as the best place to help prepare the next generation of huntsmen and huntresses and I wanted a hand in molding them to be able to protect the world in the future."
"I see…I guess we have the same reason then." Spoke Naruto. "I want to help the next generation of Huntsmen and Huntresses as well."
"If that's so, then why don't you ever take your job seriously?"
"I do Glynda." Naruto said in the most serious voice the witch had ever heard from him. "You've been on the field as a huntress; you know what it's like out there. When these kids graduate, they'll be heading into a world that might just break them if they aren't careful. So I joke, I play around with them. I want to make them feel comfortable and safe while they're here."
This speech was very similar to one she had received from Ozpin himself. "So you want these kids to enjoy the time they have now and worry about what comes when it gets here…" She assumed.
"Not just that, I want my students to know that even after they graduate from Beacon they have someone that they can talk and open up to. Having someone be there as a shoulder to lean on in this "Never-Ending" struggle against The Grimm can go a long way…"
"You sound like you're speaking from experience…"
"Heh, more than you know…" He said in a sad tone of voice. Glynda looked at her fellow blonde and for the first time since she had met him, she felt like she understood him, what his frame of mind was, and why he did the things he did. And that tone of voice he used with her just then. Honestly, she had seen a whole new side of Naruto that she never knew was there before.
In an attempt to cheer him up, she grabbed the wine bottle she took and poured him and herself a glass. She raised her drink in the air in an attempt to have a toast. "To…a better future." She said with the warmest smile she could give.
Naruto looked at the woman and a small smile crept on his face. "A smile, how odd is it to see from you Glynda." He managed to joke. He raised his glass in the air and met hers. "To a better future.
After the toast, Glynda couldn't help but go right back to glaring at him for that jab at her smiling: "If that's how you'll react to a smile from me, then I won't do it again."
"Don't take it the wrong way Glynda. You should honestly smile more; you look more beautiful when you do."
"Flattery will get you nowhere with me Uzumaki…" The rest of the party went off much like that for the two blondes. They drank, they talked more about small things such as work to what they did in their own personal time, they drank, they sang karaoke, and they drank…boy did they drink. It got to the point where after the party ended, Naruto had an arm around her waist while her arm was around his shoulder as he had to help Glynda back to her home near Beacon. Upon reaching the door, Glynda was a bit of a giggling mess.
"Oh, I'm so sorry; I don't know what came over me. I usually don't drink this much…" she said.
"No need to apologize Glynda, we all had a good time; and I managed to get you back home." Naruto reassured. He was a couple of steps away from the door before he tripped over a rock and almost fell over with Glynda on top of him. Luckily he managed to stop himself from falling on the ground and with some skillful maneuvering, he had Glynda's back against the door with him right in front of her.
Glynda actually laughed at his fumbling. "Ha Ha! Are you sure you're not drunk Uzumaki?"
The whiskered Blonde admitted, he was feeling a little buzzed right now. He seriously underestimated just how much he could put away with Glynda which led him to this current state and he had burned through his Aura throughout the night thanks to drinking with her and his drinking contest with Peter. "Not my finest moment, but here we are. Nice and safe." He told her.
The smile remained on Glynda's face as she spoke up again: "Thanks you so much Uzumaki. You REALLY know how to show a girl a good time!" Yeah, the alcohol was definitely having an effect on her; her speech was getting a little incoherent…
"I'm just glad you had a good time and finally loosened up." Naruto said. "Now you get on in here and just have a nice sleep." Naruto tried to walk away, but Glynda's hand on his shoulder kept him from leaving.
"Naruto wait…" she said. The two blondes were completely silent. Blue eyes stared at green, taking in each other's appearance. Glynda noting that she and Naruto were actually the same height, standing at 6'5. Naruto on the other hand, noted that Glynda's eyes now that she wasn't wearing her glasses (she removed them during the walk to her place) were actually quite beautiful.
The alcohol was having a much larger effect than she thought because at this moment her body just moved on its own and she planted a soft kiss on Naruto's lips. She pulled away from the kiss before Naruto moved right back in and returned her kiss with a much fiercer one.
Glynda welcomed this and wrapped her arms around his neck, while Naruto's found theirs around her waist as the two's tongues battled for dominance. With a flick of her wrist, Glynda opened her door and pulled Naruto inside her house.
Flashback End
'Oh right, that's what happened…' Naruto remembered as he rubbed his temples, his semblance was now kicking in and the pains of the hangover was slowly seeping away. 'Still, I can't believe…THAT ended up happening between me and Glynda. What should I do now? Maybe I should get out of here or…' Whatever ideas were forming in Naruto's head died when he saw Glynda slowly wake up and grabbed her glasses to put on. Much like Naruto, she was feeling the effects of a hangover.
"Ugh, I shouldn't have drank that much last night…" she chastised herself. She looked to her right and there she saw Naruto looking at her with a sheepish grin and he was nervously waving at her.
"Morning Glynda…" He greeted. Glynda's reaction to seeing Naruto in her bed was honestly something he wasn't expecting. He thought she would scream at the top of her lungs and tell him to get out. Instead, she just facepalmed and groaned in a detested fashion.
"Oh god…please tell me we didn't…" She begged, hoping it was just some bad dream.
"No…No I'm pretty sure we did…" Naruto responded.
"Oh god…" Was all she said. She worked SO hard for so many years to keep up her reputation and she just threw away one night by getting drunk and sleeping with a coworker.
"Yeah…sorry about this…" Naruto awkwardly apologized. "If it'll make things any better, I'm gonna go…" He tried pulling the covers over him so he could leave but Glynda wouldn't have any of it.
"You're not leaving that easy Uzumaki, I'm not the kind of woman that just sleeps with a man after one night." She informed him.
"Hey, neither do I. Well, except it's a woman in my case. What I'm trying to get at is I usually wine and dine a woman before…THAT ends up happening…"
"Then you have no problem doing the same with me…"
"Come again?" A confused Naruto asked.
"You don't have any plans tonight do you?" Glynda questioned.
"No, you?"
"Other than getting over this hangover, no."
"Alright then. Wait, so is this a date?"
"Yes," Glynda said after a sigh. "We'll meet tonight and talk about what happened here last night. For now, I need to be left alone…"
"Right then…I guess…I'll pick you up at eight then…" Was all Naruto said as he stood up, got dressed and left the house. He looked back at the door and walked out before he said to himself:
"This is the strangest way I've ever landed a date…"
Chapter End
Note to self: Never try and set a date to get something done. You'll only end up disappointing people. So I hope you all enjoyed this one, it was tough to get it to flow right but I think I did a good enough job. I'll have one more chapter left before I get to work on some sequel chapters, and the next one will be out by (hopefully) tomorrow as it's quite possibly the shortest chapter in this story so far. Till then Folks, I'll catch you with some more For the Love of RWUBY!
Reviews Response
Agitofang666: Here's a Glynda chapter, as for Cinder. Nothing's really clicking with me as far as ideas go. I have one but it seems a little generic and it's not all there together, if you know what I mean
OCmaniac: Part 2 Chapters? Most definitely!
Have a Little Feith: Sorry, I wanted to go a little different with that chapter and that's where my mind took me with Velvet. I promise the next one will be much fluffier.
Path-Of-Otaku: Oh I definitely thought about doing it, but it didn't quite fit in with the whole feel of the chapter.
DocSlendy: Thank you for those words of wisdom
FireyFoxPaws: Thank you
OBSERVER01: Much thanks
SHIPWRECK-5897: I won't thank you :)
Rebmul: Wanted the Naruto/Velvet chapter to be a bit more...quiet so to say, so no Naruto face smashing unfortunately. The forbidden love angle sounded a little lame to me TBH, don't know why. Plus I had this idea swimming in my head for a good while
Dragon and Sword Master: Well thank you for the kind words. My personal favorite of these one shots is admittedly the one with Nora. XP
With all that said Ladies and gents, I hope you all enjoyed! Leave a review and if you liked the story, why don't you favorite and follow it!
