AN: Fred was never going to die and Percy was always going to die in his place. Percy has been a spy for Dumbledore this whole time giving information to the Order. Everything will be explained eventually within the story. Once again anything you recognize is JK Rowling's anything you don't is mine.
Ron and Fred cried brokenly over Percy's face which was frozen in a laugh. The world seemed to be moving in slow motion as their tears hit Percy. Fred pulled Percy into his arms and sobbed.
"He – was – on – our – side – the – whole – time." I gasped sharply. Oh Merlin. A sob caught in my throat and a hand clamped down on my shoulder hard. I screamed and turned my wand at the ready. Harry was standing beside my tears on his cheeks.
"What happened?" I asked my throat tight.
"He was giving information to an Order member another spy – GET DOWN!" Harry shouted suddenly pushing me away. My back hit the wall hard and knocked the wind out of me. Spells hurtled through the air and I ducked away.
"Fred!" Ron yelled at Fred trying to pull him away from Percy's body. "Fred, you can't do anything for him! We're going to—"
I shrieked as a spider the size of a small car climbed through the hole in the wall. Ron and Harry bellowed a spell, forcing the spider back but three more crawled through the hole.
Spells flew through the air and Harry yelled. "Let's move, NOW!"
Harry gripped my hand and pulled me forward. I followed and a moment later he dropped my hand. He and Fred carefully placed him against a wall where a suit of armor had stood.
A moment later Fred stiffened and mad a bull-like roar, "ROOKWOOD!"
Ron tried to follow after Fred but Harry and I pulled him behind a tapestry. I sobbed as I wrapped my arms around Ron to keep him from running after Fred.
"I wanna help—I wanna kill Death Eaters—" His face was contorted, smeared with dust and smoke, and he was shaking with rage and grief.
"Ron, we're the only ones who can end it! Please—Ron—we need the snake, we've got to kill the snake!" I said trying to calm him. "We will fight!" I continued. "We'll have to, to reach the
snake! But let's not lose sight now of what we're supposed to be d–doing! We're the only ones who can end it!"
I sobbed and rubbed the tears off my face then turned to Harry. "You need to find out where Voldemort is, because he'll have the snake with him, won't he? Do it, Harry—look inside him!"
Harry closed his eyes and was quiet. For one long moment I was afraid he couldn't look into his mind, then he gasped. "He's in the Shrieking Shack. The snake's with him, it's got some sort of magical protection around it. He's just sent Lucius Malfoy to find Snape."
My heart stuttered in my chest and I swayed on my feet. Why would Voldemort want Severus?
Sirius POV
I was doing everything I could to protect the students that were fighting but I kept getting distracted. Every once in awhile I would feel an echo from Hermione and would drop my guard.
Remus, Tonks and I were fighting back to back covering each other's backs. Tonks shrieked in pain and I turned to look at her. Blood was pouring down her face from a deep cut in her cheek.
"LOOK OUT!" I yelled pulling Remus and Tonks out of the way as ten galloping desks ran past being shepherded by Minerva.
Dean and Dolohov were dueling on the steps. Parvati and Travers were dueling next to them. Travers whipped his wand through the air, "Incendio!"
"No!" Tonks yelled rushing forward. "AGUAMENTI!"
The jet of water hit Parvati in the chest but it was too late. Her skin had been burned away and blood was pouring out of the chard remains of what had once been her stomach. Parvati was screaming in anguish as I yelled, "AVADA KEDAVRA!"
Travers dropped dead.
I ran over to Parvati. Tears streamed down her cheeks as I pulled her into my arms. "It – hurts!"
"I can heal you!" I said waving my wand over her. Her skin slowly regrew but not fast enough. Blood continued to pour out of the gaping would that was the size of a grapefruit.
Dolohov dropped dead next to me his eyes unseeing. Dean yelled happily his eyes bright.
"Siri-" Parvati tried to say my name but started twitching in my arms.
"NO! I can save you!" I yelled waving my wand over her again. Her body continued to convulse as I held her.
"HURTS!" She screamed. I looked down at her and let out a sob. I couldn't save her. "KILL ME!"
I looked down at her and tried to muster up all the anger inside of me, "Avada Kedavra!"
The green light hit her chest and she froze looking up at the ceiling one last tear trailing down her cheek.
Trelawney POV
"NO!" A woman shrieked. I looked over the banister to see Hermione Black throw a spell at Greyback. He flew through the air and I hurled a Crystal Ball at him.
"I have more!" I shrieked. "More for any who want them! Here—"
And with a move like a tennis serve, I heaved another enormous crystal sphere from my bag, waved my wand through the air, and caused the ball to speed across the hall and smash through a window. At the same moment, the heavy wooden front doors burst open, and more of the gigantic spiders forced their way into the front hall.
Bloody hell where were they all coming from?
"Hem-hem." I froze the hairs on the back of my neck standing up and turned. Delores Umbridge was standing behind me her face as squished and toad-like as ever.
"What are you doing here?" I growled my body becoming unnaturally cold.
"Fighting for blood-purity of course." She simpered pulling out her short stubby wand. I glared at her as she raised her wand.
"EXPELLIARMUS!" Her wand soared through the air and I grabbed at it desperately.
"How dare you!" She shrieked.
The unnatural cold rippled through me again and I looked over Umbridge's shoulder. A dementor glided silently into an empty classroom and an idea came to me.
"Depulso!" I yelled waving my wand. Umbridge flew back through the air into the classroom with the Dementor. She shrieked as I yelled, "Colloportus!" The door slammed shut as I turned away ignoring her screams.
"Even I couldn't have seen this coming Delores." I whispered turning away to help the others in battle.
