Merry Christmas folks or belated depending on when you read this! I hope Christmas day has treated you all well! Here's my gift to you all: a new FTLOR chapter featuring Naruto and Emerald. This chapter was inspired by an old Batman short titled "Chase Me" (It's actually on YouTube for those curious)
So, let's get into this new For the Love of RWUBY Chapter! Enjoy!
Chapter 11 (No Honor Among Thieves): Start!
Vale City: A large and prosperous city filled with people of diverse cultures where they could make a living for themselves. On the outside, it looked like a perfect city. But no city was perfect, and while Vale had a lot of individuals that worked hard for every penny they owned and many that even helped whenever they could, there were many in the upper-class that wanted to keep their wealth to themselves, and use it for rather frivolous things and keep all of the lower classes down.
One such instance of this is tonight. Where a huge party between the richest of Vale was held at a high brow, and what they considered, sophisticated club. People came in either one by one, or with a certain date with wrapped around their arm. It was a little early on it the evening when a short portly gentleman was approaching the bouncer so that he would be able to enter the building when someone bumped into him. With a sneer on his face, he turned to the person of fault in this incident.
It was a young woman with medium brown skin, mint green hair with two long locks in the back, on each side, and dark red eyes. Her upper clothing consisted of a white top with a shallow-cut olive undershirt, this choice of clothing left her stomach exposed along with a gray three-ring armband on her left arm and a string of beads of the same color on her wrist as accessories. She also wore white pants and brown chaps that ended at her calves and an overlong belt.
"I'm sorry about that sir; I wasn't paying attention to where I was going…" The girl apologized.
"Hmph! That was made obvious…" The man snidely replied. "Honestly, you kids these days: always in a rush, no sense of respect; I don't know where your parents went wrong…"
The green haired grin grinned sheepishly while her arms were crossed behind her back. "I'm sorry again sir…" she apologized once again, but it seemed that the man had pretty much turned his back on her and was looking ahead in the line, waiting to get into the party. She turned on her heel, and the second she did, that grin on her face turned into one of annoyance.
'What an idiot…' she thought with a roll of the eyes. She then looked down to her hands and in it was the man's wallet. Opening it, she saw that the guy at least had a good sum of cash on him. That's what Bigots like that man was good for anyway. He would throw his money around and talk down to anyone that made a cent while she scratched and clawed, picking pockets and stealing items just for a meal for that day. At least, that's how it used to be for her as a child, when she had no home or family and it was just her trying to survive out on the streets. Of course, that was no longer the case when she met Cinder; and while she was always on the move due to the older woman's plans, it was the first time ever the green haired girl felt that she had a home, a family…and she didn't feel the need to rob others just to support herself; although nowadays, she did it just for the sport.
She sighed as she looked back down at the object in her hand, pulled the cash out of it and stuffed it into her back pocket before taking a look at the ID of the man, and then tossed the wallet in a nearby trashcan. It seemed no matter where she went there'll always be a "dog eat dog" mentality that exists in people. Vale was just a…less extreme version of it. It was why she was so determined to help Cinder with her plan, to tear down that barrier between Classes so that the world will have true equality! Rich, poor, human, Faunus, everyone will be on equal footing!
Her thoughts she was so wrapped up in stopped when she herself ceased walking. There was a feeling she had that trickled down her spine. The feeling that she herself was being followed.; she had this feeling even back to when she walked by the party but she thought it was just some stray animal. But now, she would no longer ignore this feeling; she reached behind her and took out her two dual pistols that were attached to the belt on her waist. She aimed them to her right, near an empty alleyway and threatened:
"I know you've been following me. Come out now. Or maybe you'd like a few bullets in you." A few moments of silence and the green haired girl's patience was already running thin. "Okay fine, I'm feeling generous. I'll give you until the count of three to come out. One…Two…"
"Alright, Alright, just take it easy, ya know?" A male voice spoke from the shadows. She heard a few more footsteps and her mystery follower's face had finally been revealed. He had blond spiky hair, cerulean blue eyes, and was dressed in an orange leather jacket with a black shirt with a red spiral on the center. There were three distinct features to him that many at first glance would have noticed about him: The first being the dark blue sword that was strapped to the young man's back. The second were the three whisker marks he had on both of his cheeks. The third and most prominent one was the furry yellow fox tail that lazily waved behind him. The boy was a fox Faunus.
The girl's red eyes narrowed as she refused to take them off of the Fox boy for even a nanosecond. "Why were you following me?" She questioned.
Much like her, the boy's eyes narrowed, although his were done in a more comical fashion than hers, and his face was scrunched up while he glared at her. "And why should I answer you?"
"Because I have two pistols aimed in your direction and I won't hesitate to shoot you…" The mocha skinned girl replied. "Now tell me, who are you?"
"It's rude to ask for someone else's name before introducing yourself…" The blonde yelped when a bullet whizzed right past him. "Are you freaking crazy?! You almost killed me with that, Ya Know?!"
"I do, and next time I won't miss. Now answer my question."
"Fine! But I'd feel a lot better if you put the guns away…" The fox tailed boy spoke back. Seeing the girl's skeptical look, he added: "I'm not gonna run away or try to fight you. I don't have a reason to…"
Under any normal Circumstance, the girl wouldn't have believed this guy for a second. Growing up the way she did made her very cautious with whom she interacted with and trusted. But…there was something strange feeling she had as she looked in the eyes of the blonde in front of her. Something…familiar, that called out to her. Against her better judgment she put her pistols away. "There, the guns are away. Now talk…" After a few more moments of silence, she groaned, realizing just what it was the boy wanted from her. "Emerald; my name is Emerald."
A toothy smile appeared on the boy's face after receiving that little bit of information. "See? That wasn't so hard, now was it? By the way, the name's Naruto Uzumaki."
"So then Naruto. Care to explain why you were following me?"
"Wasn't at first." The boy now identified as Naruto answered with his arms folded behind his head. "I heard about the party and checked it out, just like you. A giant gathering like that's full of snobby rich people, that's a giant heist just waiting to happen, ya know."
"You're a thief then?" Questioned Emerald.
"Same as you." Answered Naruto. "How much lien did you pick from that guy? Five, maybe six hunred?"
Emerald chuckled from that question. It didn't take that much thinking to pick up on what the guy was after. "I get it, you saw me take off with the Lien and now you're going to try and steal it from me?"
"Heh, if I wanted to steal your Lien then trust me, I would've already done it."
"Is that so?" Emerald responded with a tone that was asking for a challenge.
Naruto took a few steps forward, closing the gap between him and Emerald. "I've lived in this city since I was a kid; I know every nook and cranny around these parts. I've seen a lot of faces and picked a lot of pockets but out of all those people, I haven't seen someone like you."
"Meaning?" Emerald inquired.
"Someone that knows what it's like to have no home, no family. It's just you against the world, trying to make it out here and hold out for just another day…where it's gotten so bad that scraps people throw away seem like a banquet."
"I-I wouldn't think that you'd know that kind of struggle, with the way you're dressed and all." She hated that she stammered just then, but his words just now were hitting a little too close to home for her, like the guy read her mind to get this info on her past. It also didn't help that the guy was getting a little too close for her pleasure.
"It's a cover up. Living your life on the streets, when you finally get a couple of Lien in your pockets, you're gonna want to have something nice. You know the feeling right, Emerald?" The two were now face to face, and Emerald could finally see that they were of the same height, she was just an inch or two taller than him.
"You don't know a thing about me…" She countered.
"Maybe not, but I'd like to…" Without warning, Naruto placed his hands around Emerald's waist and placed a kiss upon her lips. Initially caught off guard by the sudden actions, Emerald's body acted against her mind as her arms soon found themselves around Naruto's back as she allowed the blonde to deepen the kiss. It took the Faunus's hands travelling lower than her waist and to her toned behind before the green haired girl realized just what she was doing beand she pushed him off of her and slapped him.
"Just who do you think you are kissing me like that?!" She raged at him.
"Heh Heh, didn't hear you complaining about it before…" Joked the whiskered blonde.
Emerald gave him a hard glare before threatening: "You better hope I never see you again. Because if I do, you won't get off so lucky with just a slap…" She then turned around and stormed away from the Blonde. Naruto himself shrugged his shoulders and started walking the opposite direction of her.
'And he thought he could steal from me…' Emerald grinned to herself. What the fox boy didn't know was during their embrace and kiss; she made way with digging into his pocket and stealing his wallet. 'For all his talk about us being alike, he didn't know the lesson I learned a long time ago: no one can be trusted…' She opened up the Trifold wallet and was hit with a very…unpleasant surprise. In the middle where she was assuming the ID was to be placed, there was a drawing of a chibi fox with its tongue stuck out. Not only that, but she could see the words "Nice try" on the picture
Emerald's eyes widened as she turned around where she spotted Naruto; his eyes were closed, he was smiling and in his hand he was waving a LOT of Lien. Patting the back of her pocket just to make sure, the dark skinned girl easily connected the dots and was in hot pursuit with her thief giving chase. Emerald whipped out her pistols and in a matter of seconds bullets were flying at unbelievable speeds. Naruto managed to duck and maneuver away from each bullet coming his way as he made his way into an alley. Using both walls in the alley as a jumping platform, he was scaling his way up the building next to him.
The Faunus's chaser morphed one of her pistols into a kusarigama and tossed the chain weapon at the blonde, in hopes of snatching his ankle and pulling him back down. She seemed to time her throw well, as he had made one final jump to the top of the building that would've left anyone else open. Unfortunately, she failed to take how well his hearing and reflexes could be into account as he took out his sword and with a full circular motion of his body knocked the sickle away and landed on top of the building.
He stood atop of the building with a wide grin on his face. "You're pretty sneaky Emerald, I like that!" He said with a smug air about him. "But there's no way you would've pulled one over on Naruto Uzumaki! Vale's Number one Thief!"
Emerald grinded her teeth in anger as she could only watch the blonde do his little mocking dance on the building. "We should totally do this again! I've got plans tomorrow, but I think I can make it here at the same time tomorrow night. What do ya say? Same time, same place?" When he received no answer, he grinned. "That's cool; you don't have to answer. I can see just from the fire in your eyes that I'll see you. Don't disappoint me, ya know!" And with that, he ran off.
Emerald looked back down at the fake wallet she took from the mystery Faunus she met tonight and her fists shook in anger before she threw it down in anger and stormed back to her living quarters.

In a decent looking apartment building, one young man was laying on top of his bed whilst reading a comic. When the door opened, he asked the person who came in without taking his eyes off the book: "How was the walk?" When the door slammed, that was when he finally put the book down and looked at a very peeved Emerald. "That bad?"
"Shut up Mercury. Just…shut up…" Emerald rudely told him as she plopped down on her bed on her side.
"Jeez, what put you in a bad mood?" Upon asking that question, he saw Emerald give him the eye: a look that guaranteed certain pain to him. "Fine whatever." The gray haired young man spoke as he went back to reading his comic.
Emerald laid in her bed, still sour over her encounter with the mysterious fox boy. Just so many things about that altercation made her angry. It wasn't just his actions, although she was miffed about him just touching her in the intimate way that he did, it was the way he mocked her and the skills she acquired, the skills she needed to acquire if she wanted to live and then behaved like it was some kind of game between the two. And that fool had the nerve to try and say how much they were alike?! The last thing that was playing in her mind was the invitation he sent her before he took off. It should've been something she could've played off and ignored, it's not like she was strapped for money or anything. But for some reason, something inside of her, maybe it was her pride, just wouldn't allow her to let this situation die.
'Fine Naruto Uzumaki; I'll accept your little invitation; and when I'm through with you, you'll be begging for mercy…'

"Yo Junior! Give me the usual!" Naruto ordered from the bar he was standing in. After he took the money from Emerald, he decided to celebrate the only way he knew how: by heading to a club and drinking booze!
"And how do you plan on paying Naruto? Because last I checked, you still have money on your tab that you owe me!" This was the shout of the very tall club owner, Junior. His look and attire was a simple one, with gray eyes, short black hair, and a black beard with a mustache while he was dressed in a white dress shirt with a black vest over the top, a red tie, black gloves and black dress pants.
"Yeah yeah," Naruto responded with a nonchalant wave of the hand as he threw the lien on the bar counter. "Here's what I owe. You'd think you'd cut your best employee some slack…"
"Business is business kid," countered Junior. "Besides, where'd you get this kind of money from?"
The Blonde grinned and simply gave the older man the response of: "I met a pretty nice girl today…"
Chapter End
Sooo…I went off of speculation when it came to writing Emerald in this chapter. As of this chapter, RWBY hasn't delved into Emerald as a character, so I hope you guys enjoyed what I did with what's essentially a blank slate. I know there wasn't any fluff to the chapter, but I felt that Naruto and Emerald needed to establish some kind of relationship before they could have any sort of romance. I also wanted a chase scene but I opted to save that for another chapter.
Those who've followed FTLOR since its first chapter know I have a certain rule about Naruto's character in these one shot chapters. But for the villain pairings, I created "The Chaotic Naruto Route" where Naruto's parents died and he was orphaned at the age of 6, The Dragon Blade from that one game is a family heirloom, and he has a relationship with Junior and the Twins from the Yellow trailer. I hope this chapter gives you an indication of what he's like. I also hope you guys liked the first chapter of a Faunus Naruto I did.
I've blabbered enough guys, I hope you all have a splendid holiday, enjoy it with the family. And I'll catch you guys next time with more For the Love of RWUBY!
Reviews Response
Allcreation103: Well, you kind of got that this chapter…
The Wind God of the Leaf: What was Naruto thinking? Simple: Naruto just don't care…
OBSERVER01: I would love to do a NarutoxPenny Chapter but that pairing is the new NarutoxCinder: I have NO clue what to do with it…
Snek de la keeper of Lonk: Have you ever seen "An Extremely Goofy Movie" and the reaction all the guys had to Miss Marpole at the disco? If the answer is no, then go watch that movie, it's like one of the only two good Disney movie Sequels.
Markus-Antonius: And I'm loving that you love each of these chapters!
Mr. fabulous177: I appreciate the criticism and I can't promise that I won't make another ambiguous ending chapter (Because sometimes it might just work better that way) but I'll see what I can do.
Demonhunter1: If I can ever come up with a scenario for those two, then yes
Axel yamamoto: You're in luck as I do have ideas for Ruby and Yang Prequels, it's just a matter of writing them down!
