AN: I'm hoping to finish this story by Christmas Day. Its kind of bittersweet but I'm ready to move on from this story. Now its confession time... when I started this story it was only going to be a one-shot. I accidentally forgot to put complete on it. I got a bunch of comments and likes so I decided to make it into a story. To be perfectly honest I had no idea it would be such a big hit. So I want to say a huge thank you to all of the people out there who have liked, read and reviewed my story. The rest of the chapters after this will be two or three different shots of what is happening in the lives of the main characters. Once again anything you recognize is JK Rowling's anything you don't is mine.

Sirius, Emily, and I were snuggling on my hospital bed. She hadn't wanted to leave Sirius and I once she had gotten here. The Healers had taken it in stride and brought in a little cot for her to sleep on. Sirius and I had decided that we would talk to Emily about adopting her today. She had screamed so loud that the Healers had come running in to make sure I hadn't slipped back into a coma. We must have looked a sight: Emily crying happily hugging Sirius and I, Sirius laughing and me doing my best trying to keep my tears at bay.

Emily laid her head against my chest, sucking on her thumb. "Do I have to call you mum?"

"Not unless you feel comfortable with it." I said entwining my hand with Sirius's. Emily nodded and I smiled at Sirius. He smiled back and mouthed the words I love you.

"What room will I take since you two will be sharing?" Emily asked staring at a picture of some Healers on the wall.

"Well there are five rooms in the house besides the one Hermione and I share." Sirius said thoughtfully. "One of them is the master room and is a complete mess from when Buckbeak was living in there."

"Who's Buckbeak?" Emily asked thoughtfully.

"A hippogriff." I said immediately. "It's an animal with the body of a horse and the head of an eagle."

"Weeeird!" Emily said, with a little giggle.

"I thought so too, the first time I read about them." I said rubbing my hand up and down Emily's arm. She snuggled closer to me and let out a little breath.

"Anyway," Sirius said. "you can choose whichever room you want. On the first floor there's one room, on the second floor there's another room, on the third there's a small bedroom and and the master bedroom and on the top floor there's the room next to ours."

Emily looked dazed. "Will anyone else be living with us?"

"Severus was thinking about it." Sirius said, running a hand through his hair.

"Really?!" I asked excitedly.

"Yeah, he doesn't want to live at Spinner's End anymore, not that I can blame him, and he asked if he could bum a room for awhile." I smiled, leaning back against my pillows.

"That's great...any idea what room he wants?" I asked turning to look at Sirius. A mischievous look came to his eyes and he smiled.

"The one farthest from us." I thought about that for a moment then blushed. Sirius snickered but Emily looked confused.

"Why would he want to be far away from you? I thought he's your best friend, Sirius." Emily said pulling on one of her blonde pigtails.

"Oh he is one of them but I think he's just nervous that he wouldn't be able to sleep." Sirius said evasively. Emily still looked confused but didn't press the subject, thank Merlin.

"I think I want the room on the third floor." Emily said biting her lip. "Mr. Snape scares me."

"Oh he's not that bad." Sirius said with a little smile. "He was mostly pretending to be mean like a character in a play."

"Speaking of Severus, how is he?" I asked, absently braiding Emily's pigtail. All I knew was that he had been admitted to the first floor and that Harry was working hard to get Severus a pardon. It would hardly be a reward for all his hard work to be sent to Azkaban.

"He's doing good. The Healers have been trying to find the notes from Arthur Weasley's bite from Nagini. I think the Healers found them yesterday." Sirius said flicking a strand of hair out of his gray eyes.

"Thank Merlin! He's been living on Blood Replenishing potions hasn't he?" I asked watching Emily as she fell asleep pressed between Sirius and I. It had been a hectic day and it was late. I wasn't surprised that she fell asleep.

"Yes he has. I've only been to see him twice but he's looking so much better." Sirius said. "He said he would come up to see us when the Healers say he can leave the room."

"When do you think that will be allowed to leave?" I asked biting my lip nervously. He probably was a horrible patient. I could hardly imagine how he would act when the Healers tried to give him any sort of potion.

"Soon, hopefully. I saw a Healer in training crying in the hallway. Apparently he hadn't taken it well when she couldn't tell Severus what potion she was giving him." Oh Merlin! I shook my head. He probably verbally eviscerated her.

"She deserved it." A dark voice rasped from the doorway. My head snapped towards the doorway and I smiled.

"Severus!" He looked pretty good considering the last time I had a good look at him he was almost dead. Severus's hair was greasier than normal and a large white bandage was wrapped around his neck.

"Hermione, Sirius." He said with a nod walking slowly into the room. His eyes flicked down to Emily where she was curled up between Sirius and I. She was sucking on her thumb and I shook my head a little smile on my face. She was so young at heart. "I hear congratulations are in order."

"Yes we have many things to be thankful for." Sirius said his hand dropping to my stomach. Severus's eyes widened in shock.

"You're pregnant?" Severus asked, shocked. I nodded a large smile spreading across my face. Sirius was smiling brilliantly and let out a laugh. "Congratulations! How did Emily take it?"

Sirius shifted nervously and I pulled on one of my curls. Finally Sirius said, "We haven't told her yet."

Severus pulled a face and sat down in the chair next to the bed. "You're adopting her right?"

"Yes." I said with a nod.

"Then she deserves to know." Severus said scratching at his bandage.

"I know we're just looking for the right moment." Sirius said blowing his hair out of his eyes.

"Well I think that moment is now." Severus said nodding towards Emily. Sirius and I turned to look at Emily who looked fast asleep, her eyes snapped open a moment later.

"How did you know I was faking it?" Emily asked sitting up, pulling out her pigtails. Her hair fell down straight and lank.

"I'm a spy, Miss Lewis, it is what I do." Severus said with a little smirk about his lips. Emily glared at Severus then turned to Sirius and I.

"Why didn't you tell me you're pregnant?" Emily asked her eyes flicking to my stomach. Had she already had the talk? She must have had some kind of talk otherwise she wouldn't know that the baby was growing in my stomach.

"We didn't want to upset you Emily." Sirius said watching her. Emily bit her lip and thought about that for a moment.

"I'm not upset." Emily said after a moment but her eyebrows were drawn together. She was thinking hard about something. "I just hope it's not a boy."

Sirius threw back and let out a bark of laughter, Severus let out a little snort of laughter and I was trying to contain my giggles.

"It's not, is it?" She asked her eyes wide.

"We're not sure yet." I said between giggles. She let out a little huff of breath and relaxed her shoulders.

"Well I hope its a girl." Emily said with a nod. "And if it counts for anything I've always liked the name Gwendolyn."

I blinked trying not to shudder. That name did nothing for me. "You might want to save that name for your own kids."

Emily blushed brightly and Sirius growled darkly. "Well that won't happen any time soon."

Emily nodded emphatically. "Boys are gross."

"That might change Honey." I said wrapping an arm around her shoulders. Sirius made a face and Emily stuck out her tongue in distaste.

Severus smirked and leaned back in his seat. "Its true Emily, you never know what might happen."

Merlin, that was the truth. I never would have thought that I would be happily married at nineteen with a baby on the way. There was no way I would have thought that I would marry my best friend's godfather who was nineteen years older than me. But everything worked out. I knew it would. Okay that's a lie, I hoped it would. But I had no idea it would turn out so wonderfully.
