AN: I have come to the conclusion that I will not be able to finish this story by Christmas. I won't be able to finish by the New Year either since I will be leaving in a few days. But I do hope I can finish it by the one year mark. Once again anything you recognize is JK Rowling's anything you don't is mine.

"What were you two thinking?!" I yelled turning to Emily and Nigel. They were sitting on the sofa staring at the floor. I had seen a side of Emily and Nigel that I never wanted to see.

"We weren't." Emily muttered blushing. I rolled my eyes and sighed, that much was true.

"You're lucky it was me who caught you and not your father!" Emily blushed harder and Nigel nervously ran a hand through his hair.

"Mrs. Black, I don't mean any disrespect but don't you think Emily is old enough to make her own decisions?" Nigel asked staring up at me.

"Nigel, she is only sixteen! You should know better! You're nineteen!" I leaned back against the wall and tried to control my rising temper.

"But Mrs. Black -"

"No!" I snapped my eyes flashing open. "You two are not allowed to have the doors closed anymore. You lost that privilege the moment you touched my daughter."

Nigel slumped back against the couch and Emily started to cry softly. "And if you two ever have sex in this house again you will no longer be allowed over, Nigel."

"You're not my MOTHER!" I froze my heart wrenching horribly in my chest. Nigel's mouth dropped open in shock.

"You're right, I didn't give birth to you, but I love you very much and don't want to see you get hurt. I'm serious Emily. No more fooling around or he can't come over." I said slowly before storming out of the room. When I was far enough away from the library I sobbed silently into my hands.

"Is it just me or do things seem uncomfortable around here?" Sirius asked bouncing Sarah Lily Black on his knee.

"Everything will be fine." Hopefully. Things hadn't been the same between Emily and I ever since I had caught her and Nigel. After Nigel had left Emily had begged and pleaded with me not to tell Sirius and I didn't. Emily had gone back to school before Sirius could tell that things were different between the two of us.

"You're hiding something from me." I stiffened in shock. Damn connection! It had quieted the longer we had been married but we could still feel certain things from time to time. And right now he must have been feeling my guilt and sorrow. "Do you want to talk about it?"

I sighed. Emily would be hurt and furious if I told Sirius. And there was always that possibility that Sirius would kill Nigel. Especially since he was staying over for the holidays. He would be leaving in a few days but still...

"Not really," I sighed and rubbed my eyes. "Did you ever think of how hard it would be to raise a teenager?"

"What? Do you mean Emily?" I nodded and absently pushed the food around on my plate. "She seems pretty level headed for most teens."

I grimaced. That still may be true but I did not like the idea of her growing up so quickly. And her last relationship had ended horribly. It could easily happen again. "I think I'm going to go to bed."

"Okay, night Sweetheart." Sirius said pecking my cheek. "I'll be up in a few minutes."

Sirius POV

I knocked softly on Emily's door and waited for the soft, "Come in."

Emily turned down the music as I opened the door. She was laying on her back staring at the ceiling. "What's up daddy?"

"Just wanted to talk." I said laying next to her on the bed. She squirmed for a moment before placing her head on my chest. When she was younger she and I would talk for hours on her bed just like this. But the older she had gotten the less we had done it. Till one day I had realized we hadn't done it once when she had been home that summer.

"Daddy I did something bad." Emily said against my shirt crying softly. I trailed my fingers through her hair as she sniffled softly.

"It has to do with your mother doesn't it." That seemed to make her cry more so took that as a yes. "Did you hurt her feelings?"

"Yeeeessss." Emily moaned sobbing. I rubbed my hand against her back trying to calm her down.

"What did you say?" I asked bracing myself for the worst.

"That she's not my mother." Oh Hermione... My throat tightened up. No wonder she and Emily had been so distant and awkward around each other.

"Did you mean it?" I asked carefully.

"Of course not! I was just mad and it slipped out..." She sobbed again. "At first it didn't seem like it fazed her but then I heard her crying in your room."

"Did you apologize." Emily froze in shock. "You didn't did you?"

She shook her head and sobbed harder. "I'm a horrible daughter!"

"No you're not. You just need to make things better with your mum or your relationship may never be the same." I said sitting up. Emily pulled away from me and wiped her face with her sleeve. I pulled out my handkerchief and passed it to her. She mopped her eyes and wiped her nose.

"There's something else daddy." Emily looked down nervously before looking up at me again. The guilt was radiating off of her. Oh Merlin what did she do?

"What is it?" I asked slowly, my heart pounding in my chest. She whispered something and I froze. "Would you repeat that, I think I misheard you."

Please be wrong! PLEASE! "Daddy I'm pregnant."
