Chapt. 8

It had been two months since that blessed night and Minerva couldn't be happier. The Astronomy Tower was all but finished and soon the students would return from their break and a new term would begin. She sat at her desk looking around the room noticing all of the vases that adorned the tables and shelves. Harry was quite the romantic, every morning they were apart he would have a vase of flowers waiting for her along with a note or poem letting her know that he was thinking of her. This morning's arrangement was something she had never seen before, the flowers looked to be a cross of Violets and Lily. She had found out that Neville Longbottom had taken the two plants and cross germinated them. The aroma that filled the room was something that Minerva associated only with Harry, and that made her smile once again.

With a sigh she noticed she felt queasy in her stomach once again this morning as well. They had just finished breakfast not long ago and it seemed that she would not be keeping it down. Getting up quickly she rushed to the en-suite only just in time before losing what was in her stomach. As she flushed the toilet she walked to the sink to wipe off her mouth. If she didn't know better she would think she was pregnant. But she couldn't be, she was too old for such things. Surely she had passed a time as to when she could have children. Looking into the mirror she took a glance at herself, the wrinkles that formed at the corners of her eyes and mouth were prominent and the grey in her hair was coming in more. What Harry saw she would never know. Of course he's always telling her of the woman underneath that needs love and she supposes that is what she'll have to look at. Getting a whiff of something her stomach lurched a second time. It wouldn't do, she would never be able to get the work she needs done if all of her time is spent here in the loo.

After getting cleaned up a second time she made her way over to the fire place to put a fire call into Poppy.

"Poppy, I need to see you in my office immediately."

Seeing Minerva's head in the fire Poppy Pompfry only nodded and stepped thru the grate.

As she stepped out she noticed all of the flowers in the room and she smiled then sneezed a couple times.

"I'm sorry Min, it's the flowers. They're beautiful but you know how pollen gets to me." She smiled weakly and took in what was the Headmistress.

"Merlin Min, are you ok? You look…well you look.."

Minerva moaned as she held her stomach and ran once more for the loo. Poppy followed at a slower rate and rubbed circles into her friends back as she emptied her stomach for a third time.

"Poppy, please help me. I've been feeling awful for the last 3 days, I can't get any work done and if I'm to have Hogwarts ready by the start of term I can't be staying here in my loo all day."

Poppy nodded and led her to the bedroom, setting Minerva on her bed she told her to lay back so she could run a diagnostic charm. As the readings hovered above the headmistress she could hear her heartbeat and that of something resembling the sound of hooves running along the Forbidden Forrest's ground.

Both witches gasped at the sound. Minerva had no idea as to what was going on while Poppy's face lit up and tears filled her blue eyes.

"Poppy, what is that? Am I going to die?"

Poppy shook her head and walked over to the fireplace and floo called the Burrow.

Minerva looked at her in shock, the Burrow was where Harry was staying while he was working on getting his Mastery over the summer so that he could teach the coming year. With Hermione there to help him she was sure he would get it. She stayed quiet and listened as Poppy called out for someone to find her.

"Ah, Mr. Potter just the person I was looking for. Please if you would step through the fire here into Min's rooms I believe I have some news for you both."

Within seconds Harry stepped out of the fireplace brushing himself off. Quickly he went over to Min concern in his eyes.

"Are you ok my sweet?"

Minerva smiled and nodded slowly.

"I think so, I'm just feeling a wee queasy and I asked Poppy to help. Apparently there's something she isn't telling me yet."

She looked at her long time friend glaring at her as if she were one of her students that had misbehaved. Harry saw this and chuckled having been on the receiving end of that look many a time.

Having heard the chuckle Minerva smacked him playfully on the arm and looked at him too. He grinned and leaned down to kiss her gently.

"None of that Mr. Potter, that is what got you where you are now Min."

Minerva looked over to Poppy a look of confusion on her face.

"Poppy Pompfry you tell me what's going on or so help me I will transfigure you into a flower pot so that you can sneeze all day!"

Raising her hands up in surrender Poppy smiled.

"Ok, Ok, Congratulations are in order. It seems as if you and our dear Harry here will be having a baby in I would say 8 months time."

Minerva was shocked to say the least, pregnant at 63. PREGNANT AT 63! Her mind screamed at her. It was then the she heard a large thump of someone hitting the floor, looking over she saw Harry on the floor unconscious.
