Chapter Seven-The Cost of Power
Loki could see his employer sweat a little, not surprising coinciding there last encounter.
'Stay calm,' thought Shido. 'All I have to do wait for the right moment.'
He had some of his other students in hiding to take down the mercenary. He might have more supplies for them, plus payback for earlier. They only have to be patient.
"I see you've been doing well," Shido mentioned to Loki.
"So have you," replied Loki on edge. He felt that Shido would try something. He slowly readied himself.
"As for your payment," Shido said with a smile. "It's right here."
Shido pointed to a medium box that contained various goods.
"Move off to the side, I'm checking it," Loki ordered.
Shido wanted to rebuke him, but moved with his helpers, knowing to wait for the right moment to strike.
Loki looked inside the box, seeing it was filled with the stuff they agreed on.
"This will do for my payment," Loki spoke calmly. "I say we part ways with this."
Shido caught the hidden meaning in the statement, but wasn't going to stop his plan.
Suddenly, screams of pain filled the air.
Shido turned blue with his group. They know whose voices belonged to.
As for Loki, he only sighed.
'Idiots,' he thought. One or more of those students got caught in his traps.
He made sure no one would blind side him. He was too cautious after all.
Shido felt a cold sweat run coming on. Even though Loki's face was hidden behind a mask, he could feel a glare.
"Nice try," Loki stated very calmly.
Shido almost ran, but instead held up a weapon of sorts. His students also brought up there make-shift weapons.
Loki noticed they seemed…borrowed.
"I see you wanted to live longer," stated the mercenary calmly, not scared in the least.
Shido only glared at the man.
Loki calmly stared at the man and stated, "Let this go. I have my payment, so if you just leave. I won't kill you."
Shido shakily smirked, "That's funny. We have the advantage of numbers, so goodbye."
Shido was about to charge at Loki, who only sighed while making a fist.
*Bang*
A bright light covered the area.
'To easy,' thought Loki, protected by his mask from the flash grenade.
As for everyone else, they screamed while covering their eyes.
"Damn it!" screamed Shido, trying to recover his site.
The grenade had blinded and his students. He could hear them trying to call out to each other.
Suddenly, he blacked out.
Loki ran off while carrying the unconscious Shido.
The mercenary could see various corpses walking toward the place.
'Go ahead, I'll be ready to reclaim my stuff later,' thought Loki leaving the spot quietly.
One of Shido's followers could see, he screamed in fear seeing an emerging problem.
One of 'them' was about to grab him. There wasn't enough time for him to react.
Soon the others were being eaten by 'them'. There dying screams filled the air.
(Near the shopping mall)
Takashi's group was out of the mall that they used.
Kohta with his group could see dozens of 'them' roaming the place.
"How is that they keep multiplying," he muttered under his breath, perplexed.
"No telling," replied Takashi, equally confused at their ability to keep getting victims.
"So how are going leave?" Shizuka asked seeing how dangerous it was to leave.
"Let me help," replied Alice with hand up.
The group looked lost at the offer, but nodded.
"Be careful," said Toshimi.
"I will," Alice replied with a smile.
She ran off to get her bike, and in no time. She was riding off at an incredible speed for a bike. As soon she was far enough, she lite some firecrackers and threw them.
Instantly, 'them' reacted to the noise and started walking toward it.
Alice took off to meet up with her group.
"Good work Alice," Toshimi thanked the little girl quietly.
Even the other teens give her a smile at a job well done.
Alice smirked with thumbs up.
The group started running off. Kohta controlled his speed, so not to out run his group.
Shimada saw something that made him look twice.
"Was that building red before?" he asked pointing to the place.
Everyone looked to see. It did look like a normal building, but with patches of red on it.
"I don't think so," answered Takashi confused at seeing it. That building didn't look like that before.
"I've have a bad feeling," muttered Saya, not liking this.
Shimada pointed to an unusual site, "Look over there! It's zombie vs zombie."
Everyone else raised an eyebrow at the statement. They looked to see what he meant.
They were even more confused at seeing indeed it was zombie vs zombie.
Various 'them' were trying to eat other walking corpses, but some of the others had an advantage. They had a blade of sorts and worked together.
Saya's eyes widened in realization, "Those are walkers!"
"Walkers?" asked a confused Shimada.
"There the worker bees of the Blacklight creatures," answered Saya, quietly.
It was then one of the walkers looked in their direction. It growled while running at them.
"They can see!" exclaimed Rei, readying to fight.
As soon that walker charged at them, others reacted. They joined in running for the small group.
"Why are they doing that?!" asked Takashi at the site.
"They must have a hive mind," answered Kazuyoshi with his spear ready.
Kohta got between his group and the walkers with his hammerfist. He slammed his massive fists into the ground, launching a barge of spikes.
The barge of spikes stopped this group, but.
*Bam*
There was an explosion of some kind near-by.
They looked off to the side seeing a new creature.
"Do you know what that thing is?" asked a shaky Shimada.
"No! That's new!" exclaimed Saya at seeing it.
Even Zeke growled while being in Alice's arms.
The creature that they looking at was slender beast, but seemed robust. It was hard to tell, as there were spikes around it.
It started to shake off the spikes, revealing a dark red body. It had the same glowing back as other Blacklight creatures. It walked on all fours.
Kohta had his claws ready to take on this thing.
The beast looked at the group, before it made a move. It grabbed one of 'them' and eats it.
"Whatever it is, it has an appetite," commented Takashi with a sweat-drop.
The monster ate another two; it then turned to look at the humans, growling.
"It's done eating," commented Kazuyoshi, wondering why it did that.
The creature leaped at group of humans.
Lucky they were able to dodge it, but it was close.
"Bastard!" screamed Kohta, charging at the beast with his claws.
The monster however started shaking.
"Watch out! That thing is trying something!" Kazuyoshi warned Kohta.
But, it was too late. The monster launched spikes in every direction from its body.
Kohta caught a couple of the spikes over his torso. Lucky for him, he was more durable than a human.
The spikes seemed to reddish in appearance and had enough force to penetrate anything.
"Ouch!" Asami cried out in pain, a spike had scarped her right arm. A thin trail of seeped out of the wound.
Toshimi became worried at this, "Marikawa-sensei! You need to take a look at Nakaoka-san!"
Shizuka became worried at call for help; she rushed over there to see what was wrong. She winched at seeing the wound, it didn't look back, but it was from an infected creature.
"I hope this will help," Shizuka muttered while getting out the supplies needed to clean the wound.
She didn't waste any time on cleaning and bandaging the cut.
Kohta slashed at the monster, he did wound it. He glared at monster that seemed to be backing away.
Saya figured out what it was doing, "Don't let it eat anything!"
"Why?" Kohta asked while keeping his eyes on the retreating monster.
"This infected beast is using biomass to cause those spikes, like a Devastator," Saya explained to the prototype, knowing how it was making those spikes.
Everyone knows what the pink-haired teen was talking about. It was ability that Mercer and Heller had.
"In that case, time to finish it before it does it again," muttered Kohta, shifting his hands to his tendril form.
He launched a barge of tendrils to hold down the creature. Kohta pouched at it with his claws. He slashed the thrashing creature's heads, killing it. He also devoured it; healing the wounds he had along with something else that he received.
He was able to hold it back, feeling it was not the time for a new power.
Kohta marveled at recovering so quickly like before, whenever he consumed biomass. He heard a cry, causing him to look at Asami.
"No," Kohta muttered concerned at seeing her clench her arm in obvious pain.
Both Shizuka and Toshimi backed away, scared.
Asami screamed in pain from her arm, it was nothing she felt before. Her whole body was burning up.
"Asami-san!" screamed Kohta running toward the woman.
"What's wrong with her?!" asked Takashi, concerned for Asami's wellbeing.
"This is like whenever 'them' infect you," Shizuka answered sadly, knowing there was nothing she could do. "There is no way of stopping it."
Toshimi looked sad at the statement, even though rivals. She didn't want this fate happening to her.
Asami agreed with it, it felt like her body was being taken over. Like a different mind was trying to take over.
"What do we do?!" exclaimed Kohta, not knowing how to handle this. She might become like him, but…
Asami's right arm started squirming, forming a metallic look.
"Not good," muttered Saya. "She's becoming a walker."
"No," Toshimi muttered knowing what that entailed.
Asami tried to keep her mind, but it was a losing battle.
Kohta could see a pleading look from Asami.
"Please Kohta, don't let be became one of those mindless things. Please!" Asami pleaded to the prototype.
She could start telling him that she hated him, but couldn't do it. Whatever was taking over her mind, she could feel it has a terrible purpose.
Kohta didn't know how to react to such a request. He understood why she would want to die, but…
Asami screamed in pain, her skin was turning into a pale color. It was even starting to bloat.
Everyone could only watch this in horror.
With a shiver, Kohta did the only thing for her. With a simple thrust behind Asami's head, he was to kill her quickly and painlessly as possible.
Asami's body fell to the ground. Kohta couldn't help, but tear up at the turn of events.
He had the power to do great things, but he couldn't save the one person he came to care about.
What was the point of having it if wouldn't save her!
"Hirano-san," Toshimi muttered sadly at the turn of events. She was about to move to comfort him, but she saw something going after him.
"Hirano-san, watch out! Walkers are coming for you!" Toshimi warned the prototype of the danger.
Even the rest of the group yelled at him, trying to warn him. But it didn't seem to reach him.
"It's their fault," Kohta growled with his eyes becoming shadowed.
Everyone kept yelling at Kohta, hoping to snap him out of it.
"Screw this," Toshimi muttered while getting her compound bow.
The ones close to the pigtailed girl looked shocked, Toshimi hardly swore like this.
Toshimi loaded the bow and fired at the walkers. Some of her group looked a little lost at this action.
"What are you waiting for?!" Toshimi yelled to everyone. "I'm not going to just sit by and let Hirano-san get killed!"
That one statement caused them to get there weapons.
"I'll lay down a suppressing fire with Niki," Takashi ordered.
That sounded like a good plan, but Alice pointed at Kohta.
"What's wrong with Onii-chan?" Alice asked shakily, seeing Kohta glowing red.
Everyone looked at this confused.
"What is he doing?" Saya muttered at the site.
Suddenly her eyes widened in shock.
"Everyone back away from him," Saya ordered while backing away.
"What! I can't leave him!" Toshimi screamed enraged at pink-haired teens order.
Saya glared at Toshimi and said, "We need to take cover Baka! He might be doing a Devastator!"
This made everyone scared; they didn't know what kind of damage the otaku might do with that. From all the reports they read, it lived up to its name.
Toshimi looked conflicted at what to do, but she hit the ground with everyone.
Kohta's glow got brighter, he looked around. Seeing all the walkers close to him, he let loose what he held back!
*BOOOM*
Kohta slammed the ground with his foot and hands. Creating a shockwave that threw all the walkers into the air, followed by another blast of power from Kohta's body.
Not long, tendrils erupted from Kohta. Piercing anything that got in there way.
The humans who took cover were lucky not harmed by Kohta's Devastator.
Takashi got up and his jaw dropped at the level of destruction done.
"Holy…h-he blew all them away!" exclaimed the teen in complete awe.
Indeed not one of walkers that attacked Kohta, were left standing. Bits and pieces were only left of them.
Toshimi could see the damage, but she was more worried for Kohta. She found him at the same spot. He seemed to standing on a red patch of biomass, seemly not effect by the explosion.
"Hirano-san," Toshimi muttered, wondering on how to help him.
"T-this is beyond insane!" screamed Rei, beyond scared at level carnage done by one person, no, by a monster.
Saeko didn't know whether to be aroused at this or scared for her life. It might even be both.
Kazuyoshi was still on the ground. He did dive to the ground with everyone with Shizuka close. Strangely, the ground wasn't that hard. It seemed to be…soft with two pillows!
At that thought, Kazuyoshi opened his to see. His face nested between Shizuka's breasts!
"Kazuyoshi-kun," Shizuka muttered. "I'm not all that picky of place, but please. Let's not do it in front of everyone," she purred to the young man.
As for the um…lucky man, he only blushed at what the nurse meant.
Shimada was getting up, but very scared at seeing the otaku blow up.
'I'm beginning to think, he is most dangerous one here!' thought the man, knowing how outclassed he was.
But there was another site that made him scared. Various walkers were hitting for them.
"They're coming back with reinforcements!" Shimada warned every one of the threat.
This made them swear.
"Oh come on! Can't we get a break?!" Takashi screamed at seeing the walkers coming at them.
As Kohta, he waited for one of walkers to get close.
Toshimi was about fire an arrow, but.
*Slash*
Kohta slashed the walker, but he didn't stop there. His body seemed to drawing in the remains of the walker into his body.
Everyone winched at seeing it slowly dissolve into Kohta's body.
"I don't know if I get used to seeing that," muttered a sick Shimada.
"It's not enough," Kohta muttered, feeling the effects of consuming that walker.
Even though he was fully healed, he could tell that he needed more biomass. He spotted a group of walkers coming at him, an idea came to him.
He switched his arms to their tendril form and launched a black hole at them. As soon they landed together. He ran into the remains, consuming this small group slowly.
"Why is he consuming them?" asked Takashi, seeing the prototype's unusual act before them.
"He must be collecting biomass," Saya answered.
"Why?" asked Kazuyoshi, trying to get up. "I don't see any reason for it?"
Kohta didn't seem to notice what his group was talking about. He only wanted to collect more biomass. He noticed a group of 'them' coming to him.
He noticed they were slower than the walkers. Kohta simply switched over to hammerfists and moved closer. When close enough, he used the hammerfists.
The ground shook around him, attracting even more. But he didn't seem to care, Kohta kept on slaughtering 'them' with no regard.
Claws, tendrils, spikes, he used every one of his armaments, killing dozens with no stain at all.
"Hirano, you need to stop," Takashi called out the otaku, hoping it would stop him.
But, Kohta kept attacking the group.
"Not good, if he keeps this up. He will make every walker and 'them' come here," Kazuyoshi said seeing what the otaku was doing. He was still blushing a bit from his ordeal.
Saya watched this and become scared.
"What's wrong Saya?" asked a concerned Takashi, not liking this look.
"I think he's…snapped," Saya muttered out with taking a step back.
This statement made the group worried.
'What can I do,' thought Toshimi holding her hands together, not knowing what to do.
"Hirano, please stop," Takashi pleaded again to the prototype, hoping this would snap him out it.
Kohta stared at teen and asked, "Why?" Seemly confused at the plea the group's leader gave to him.
"Huh?" Takashi replied lost at the question.
"You can go, I'm staying here and cleaning this mess," Kohta answered Takashi.
After that statement, Kohta went back to killing the undead legions.
"I say we leave," Rei stated. "He's more than capable to take care of himself."
The group looked shocked at Rei's coldness. Toshimi almost glared at teen, but was more concerned for her crush.
Shizuka suddenly had idea.
"Alice, let me borrow your bike," the nurse requested to the young girl.
Alice nodded while handing over the bike.
Shizuka hopped on the bike and rode toward the out of control otaku.
Kohta stopped what he was doing to see what the nurse wanted.
"That's enough solider," Shizuka ordered to Kohta firmly with frown.
Kohta looked stumped at the order, even his group looked lost.
"Huh?" the otaku muttered comically.
"Don't huh me. You can't be acting like this!" Shizuka exclaimed to the confused otaku.
Kohta stood attention, "Yes ma'am!"
Shizuka nodded, pleased. "Excellent, we have to help our civilians get to safety."
Shizuka pointed to their group, more importantly. Toward Alice and Toshimi, hoping this would calm him down. As those were the ones who he seemed to care about more in there group.
"Yes ma'am," Kohta replied following Shizuka's orders.
Kohta moved on to where his group, all sighing in relief he stopped his little rampage.
Shizuka also followed, also letting out a sigh, glad that this act worked on the otaku.
'But, for how long will it hold,' thought the nurse, knowing this would only do so much.
There still is a chance he could snap again; her own schooling didn't cover this sort of thing.
The group rushed off to escape before anymore undead of any kind arrived.
But, there was one who walking away from the group, it was Shimada. He wasn't sure about following that group, not after seeing how powerful Kohta was becoming.
'That…kid is too unstable to be around,' thought the man, seeing how he snapped.
From what he could see, there would hardly be anything that could stop him. So with that, he started walking in a different direction of that group, as it would seem to be a little safer for him.
Sadly for the man, a couple of walkers were walking behind him.
Shimada suddenly heard a noise, he quickly looked behind him. He screamed in fright at seeing the walkers coming at him!
Before he could do anything, the walkers had dogpiled on him.
"Get off of me!" Shimada screamed while trying to free himself.
*Bam*
One of the walkers sloppily hit him on the head. It was effective as it knocked him out.
With their query, the walkers started back to their hive. They needed to increase their numbers; they had much going against them already.
(Later-on the mall's rooftop)
"Damn it!" exclaimed Hiro, seeing various 'them' coming up the fire escape.
They were safe from 'them' coming from inside, but not on the outside. With their luck it would seem they knew where to go.
They already made a barrage that was holding, but not for long. They were sloppy climbing over it and pushing it apart slowly.
"Come on!" ordered the young woman to the business man. "Don't just stand there! Help us!"
The business man grunted at the lady's order. But helped with his sheers, decapitating one of 'them' who climbing over the barrage.
Hiro heard a loud noise, turning around. He could see seven helicopters in the area.
"We're here," he screamed to the vehicles while waving his arms, hoping to get their attention.
It wasn't long before the rest of his group also waved at them.
"Commander," a pilot said over the radio. "I see a group people on a roof top, orders sir?"
One of the passengers in the helicopter looked though an imagining device, showing that they were alive.
"Striker five, move in to help secure civilians off rooftop," the commander ordered.
"Roger," replied the pilot, now following his orders to help the people.
"They're coming!" cheered the lady relieved.
As soon she said that the helicopter closest to them started firing at them!
Various members of the group screamed at seeing this, lucky for them. The bullets only hit 'them' and no one else. They also destroyed the fire escape.
Then the helicopter hovered above them. It lowered various ropes.
"Do they expect us to climb up there?" asked the man not sure about climbing those ropes.
It wasn't long that he got his answer. Armed man slide down the ropes, they landed on the rooftop and pointed there weapons at the group.
"W-wait, I thought you're here to help us!" screamed the lady, waving her arms.
"Everyone, get down," he ordered to the group while clicking off his safely.
As soon he said that the group hit the ground.
The soldiers opened fire on all the undead, killing them.
"Launch a RPG at that fire escape," ordered a solider.
"Sir," replied a solider, aiming his RPG at the spot.
He fired it, hitting the mark. Destroying 'them' while stopping there trudge.
"Is anybody else in the building?" asked the one in charge.
"No one, it just us," answered Hiro.
The soldiers looked at the doorway to down stairs, it was empty.
"Don't worry about the entrance," said the lady, who was getting up slowly. "It was sealed."
The soldiers lowered their weapons, knowing it safe up there for now.
"It must have been hard getting here," replied the blond man bring out a cigarette, but groaned. That police officer had taken his light.
Talk about bad luck.
One of the soldiers smiled while handing a light, which the man used.
"We were at air carrier close-by, so it wasn't too much trouble to get here," replied the solider.
"We're not talking about that," said the lady. "We're talking about is that EMP attack from earlier."
The solider did look surprised at the answer, but understood. With everything shutting down, it would be oblivious there be an attack of some kind.
"Was there anyone else that we need to know about it?" questioned one of soldiers looking around.
The group looked sheepishly at the question.
"Well there was a group here, but…"
The solider stared at the lady.
"They don't need help, especially with that guy with them," she answered timidly.
The soldiers raised an eyebrow at hearing this. Confused as to what they were talking about.
"Striker five, we have incoming," a pilot warned on the radio.
"Where from?" asked the solider answering the warning.
"At your seven, but there running on rooftops," replied the unsure person.
"Rooftop?" replied the confused solider.
His men also looked lost at the warning, but the mall survivors looked spooked.
"He can't be coming back, I mean. Hirano wanted to stay with his group," Hiro muttered to himself at hearing this.
Everyone looked in the direction to see two persons running on rooftops toward the mall.
"There are more, of him running around," said the blond man, confused at seeing someone else have the capabilities of Hirano.
The soldiers looked confused at the mutters, but readied for anything. They heard about bases being attack by an unknown group with strange powers.
It may sounded stupid, but with everything that has happened…better to safe.
"Attention," a voice called out one of helicopters. "Stop right there are we will open fire."
This warning scared the mall's survivors. However, the two didn't seem to care about the warning, they only kept running toward the mall.
After a few seconds, one of gunships fired a few shots in front the duo. This did stop them.
It seemed that only of them was going to let out a yell. Which he did let out with his arms spread out.
This yell was heard by everyone.
"Why in hell did he do that?" questioned one of the soldiers, confused at this action.
He got his answer. Two brawlers had answered the man's call.
"Oh shit!" muttered a scared Hiro. "Those look like that monster we saw."
The rest of his group nodded, clearly scared at seeing another monster.
As for the soldiers they raised their weapons, not knowing what to expect.
The brawlers master pointed to one of helicopters. As soon they saw that they grabbed anything and threw it them!
The helicopter tried to dodge the fragments of roof, but failed. One of them hit the back rotor.
"Mayday, mayday we're hit! We're going down!" screamed the pilot, trying to stabilize his craft.
*Boom*
All the humans were now even more scared at seeing the helicopter bursting into blames.
"This is bad," muttered the lady, clearly not knowing what to do.
"We have a boogey!" screamed another pilot.
The group looked to another helicopter, seeing the other person on the aircraft's wing.
He hopped off, slashing at the top rotor with his sword-like arm.
It wasn't long before the aircraft noised dived.
As for the man, he glided away not caring about falling craft.
That soon crashed into the ground.
There were shots being fired at the two bawlers jumping for the two helicopters, hitting them. But as soon they got close enough. They exploded into a mass of tendrils, bringing down the aircrafts.
"What in hell are those guys?" muttered a scared solider.
"I don't know, but we have get out of here," said there commander.
"What?" replied a different solider, wondering about the order.
The commander looked at his subordinates, "Whatever those two are. They are too much for us and we can't risk the civilians here."
The soldiers nodded in understanding. So they ordered there helicopter to pick them up, even if it was risky move.
"As soon as the copter is here, get on," the commander ordered to the group.
They nodded at the order. It was best to get out dodge with how it's looking right now.
*Bam*
Everyone heard the loud noise, looking to see what caused it. They saw Ryu landed on the rooftop with his whipfist out.
"Oh no," muttered the man, dropping his cigarette at seeing the evolved.
Ryu slowly walked toward the group of humans.
"Now's a good time for us to get the hell out of here," said the lady scared, knowing what this person could do to them.
After all, she has seen what one could do to a monster. They wouldn't be that hard to kill for this guy.
Lucky for them, the helicopter hovered behind them enough to hop on it. The wind would make a tad difficult to get on, but under the circumstances.
It was worth the risk!
"Everyone, let's go!" screamed the commander while waving an arm.
They didn't waste any time. They all ran toward the aircraft, hoping to get away from the evolved.
Ryu launched his whipfist at them, trying to stop the helicopter.
"Ekk!" screamed the lady, as the organic weapon almost hit her!
Instead it hit the inside of air craft, making a dent in the wall.
"Damn it!" muttered one of the soldiers, seeing the weapons reach and power.
With quick reflexes, he started firing at the evolved with his semiauto.
Ryu simply jumped into the air and harpooned the solider, who screamed in pain at being impaled by Ryu.
"You're in the way, human," Ryu stated to the solider coldly.
The solider was about to reply, but didn't have a chance. Ryu simply threw the man away. He landed far away from the rooftop. There was a crunch from his landing on the ground.
"What for me!" the business man yelled while trying to get on the helicopter.
However, he stopped in pain. Looking down, he could see part of Ryu's whipfist in his shoulder.
Everyone else, but evolved turned blue at this indifference.
Ryu simply reeled in his catch, who tried to stop it. But couldn't, Ryu was too strong for him.
"Go, go, go!" screamed Hiro in fright, knowing that if they don't leave now.
They were toast!
The commander give the order seeing everyone that could be saved were on. He floored it. The other two helicopters also started retreating.
"Wait!" screamed the business man, seeing them leave without him. "Don't leave me you bastards!"
Ryu looked ready to dislodge the man to chase them, but stopped. It would be a waste of time when he has that he needed.
The business man looked at Ryu, trying to look intimating to the evolved.
"You better put me down," he ordered. "You don't know who you're dealing with."
Ryu only stared at the man.
Everyone in the copter was breathing sighs of relief.
"Man, I didn't think we could see another one like that kid," commented the man sitting down exhausted from the ordeal.
The commander looked at him, firmly, "What are talking about?"
The man looked at the commander, seeing that he was about to answer him.
"Nooo!" screamed the lady.
The group stiffened at why she screamed looking at her they could see the problem.
When Ryu tried to grab her, he unknowing ripped her skirt, exposing her dark blue panties that had lace roses.
She looked to see every male looking at her, more specify. Her underwear!
"Stop looking at me and give me something to use!" she screamed while trying to cover her undergarment.
They nodded dumbly while one solider handed over a couple of vests. That the lady grabbed and used them, with some trouble, but made it work.
'I don't know if I should thank that guy for this lovey site,' thought Hiro with silent tears of joy.
The helicopter kept on its way.
As for the evolved, he was joined by his partner.
"I see you got a snack or it is something else?" asked Bokuden, seeing the captive man.
"It's both," Ryu answered.
"What are you talking about?!" asked the struggling man.
Ryu didn't have a verbal answer, but his body was spouting out tendrils. Before the man could say anything more, he was consumed. There was nothing left of him.
Ryu held his head, sorting through the memories the man held. After a few seconds he found what he wanted, making him frown.
"Did you find out what happened here?" asked Bokuden with his arms crossed.
They were sent here on orders from Pariah; he noticed various infected were killed in unusual way from the hive mind. Like they were consumed, along with that new infected that he wanted to create. It would serve as a demolition expert.
"I did and it would seem that so-called evolved that we're to recruit may not be an evolved," Ryu stated to his partner.
Bokuden's look become serious, "Are you saying that Hirano fellow isn't an evolved, but like Mercer or Heller."
Ryu nodded, "Yes, he consumed a juggernaut and gained its hammerfists. We can only get two abilities. Where he is gained more than that and is evolving at a fast rate."
"That's make things more complicated," replied Bokuden, knowing how much a game changer this was.
He may not all that strong right now, but if he is a prototype like Mercer. There is no telling what he could do.
"I'm going to check the mall," Ryu said. "I need to make sure, also. There seemed to have been a fight over there," Ryu pointed to a spot.
Bokuden looked at the spot, "You think Hirano fought over there?
Even though it was a question, it was more of a statement. Ryu only nodded his answer while hopping off the building.
Bokuden went off in the direction of Kohta's battle. Looking around, he could see various signs of it. The various corpses of walkers with slash marks, stretched to the breaking point, and impaled.
Bokuden hummed while looking at holes in the ground. He even touched it to get a feel.
While this was going on, one of 'them' was slowly moving toward the evolved. His target didn't seem to notice it. It was about to bite down on his new meal.
*Slash*
*Thud*
"Get lost failure," Bokuden stated with his swords out. "I'm not in the mood for beef jerky."
The fallen 'them' didn't do anything, as it slashed down the middle on the ground.
"Man, Ryu is right. Those holes look close to what the crazy Naoe can do. I'm unsure about that patch of biomass over there," Bokuden commented while looking at the spot.
It wasn't long before Ryu made his appearance.
"So all the clues seem right about him being different from us," Ryu replied to this partner.
"Right, any idea what's with that biomass looking like that?" Bokuden asked while pointing at the spot, where Kohta unleashed his Devastator.
Ryu took a look and frown, "That's from a Devastator."
Bokuden's eyes widened, "A Devastator! That means Hirano consumed that new infected being made here! He is gaining more power, if he continues unchecked."
"He can be a big hindrance to us," Ryu answered dead serious.
"And we could be on his hit list. If he were to consume each of us, no telling what he could gain," Bokuden commented tightly.
"I agree we don't know enough of what his goals are. For all we know, he might turn out like Heller and we know how that ended for Mercer," Ryu stated.
"We better spread the word. Of this prototype," Bokuden stated dead serious.
"Yes, no time to waste," Ryu agreed with it.
The two evolved left the area, off to warn there group of this discovery.
(At alleyway)
Shido started to wake, he moaned while trying to rub to eyes. He did rub them with trouble; it would seem his arms were a little constricted. Also, it would seem he was lying against something cold.
"What…what the hell is this?!" screamed the man, as his arms were cuffed with a tall sign in the middle.
It would seem he was placed here for some reason.
"Awake I see," commented a cold voice.
Shido looked to see Loki, calmly sitting down on a car. He seemed to be writing on a notepad to pass the time.
"You," spat out Shido with a glare.
Loki didn't seem to care about the man's reaction; he only stood up looking at him.
Shido wondered what the man had planned for him.
Only silence remained, so much that Shido couldn't take it anymore.
"What are planning for me?" Shido asked/demanded to Loki.
"Easy simply," commented Loki. "You see that clock up there."
Shido was confused at the mercenary pointing to atop the sign. He looked up to a windup clock wired to various pieces.
"What is that?" questioned the tied up man, feeling that it was bad news for him.
"That is an alarm of my design," stated Loki. "I was making a kind offer earlier, but you didn't take it. So what that alarm will do is alert every undead thing here."
Shido turned blue, knowing that being the way he was. He would be an easy meal!
"No! You can't do this!" screamed the former teacher at Loki, who didn't care.
Loki turned away and said, "Good luck, you might live longer if you get before it goes off. That's if you can reach it."
The mercenary kept walking away with no care.
Shido cursed the man, but stopped as it was useless. Desperately, he could see the clocks hands getting closer to the sat time.
"I'm not going to die here!" Shido screamed while trying to climb the sign.
He slipped a few time as it was so slick. With the next try, he made up to the top.
"Yes!" he exclaimed in victory, but screamed in angst when he grabbed it.
The damn thing was a dud! Most of the parts were just junk and the clock. It didn't have the hammer to ring the bells!
"That bastard, he played me for a fool!" Shido screamed while tossing the device to the ground, which broke apart from the fall.
Shido soon landed on ground, as he was able to free himself of sign, but not his cuffs.
"When I find that man," Shido ranted. "I'm going to kill hi-!"
Shido couldn't say anymore as a walking corpse came up from behind and bit him.
Shido looked to see various corpses coming for him. He couldn't get away as the first one had a good grip on him. The frantic man tried to pry it off, before the others could join him.
But alas, it was for not. Like as it has been done many times when 'them' grabs their normal prey.
They always win.
As for Loki, he was simply retrieving his payment from Shido. His entire noise making did the trick, like he predicted it would.
'Such a predictable one,' thought Loki. 'Thinking he's invincible because of having a cult. He should know when not cross a person of my caliber.'
From what he could tell about that man, he thought that nothing could hurt him. When in reality, he was just a coward that used everybody for his own ends.
The mercenary didn't give it anymore thought. He already got what he wanted, time for him to move out, very quietly.
After all, he wasn't dumb like some people.
