Shunsui frowned as he felt Nanao's reiatsu flash angrily. "Going to have to change that." Nanao's glare softened as her daughter left her field of vision. She then couldn't help but giggle at the thought of what was about to happen.

"What's so funny today?" Shunsui tucked a strand of hair out of Nanao's face. He caressed her cheek as she smiled at him.

"Nothing in particular." Nanao leaned her cheek into Shunsui's large, calloused hand. "Shunsui, promise me you won't freak out."

Shunsui furrowed his brows at the question. "What would I freak out about?"

Nanao bit her lip as she gave up the longest secret she had ever kept form Shunsui. "Our daughter, Sakura...she didn't die at birth." Nanao dropped her eyes in shame.

Shunsui was shocked to say the least. Other emotions also popped up, but he couldn't throw them at his sweet Nanao-chan. He refused to. "Why did you lie? Did you think I couldn't protect our little family?" As hard as he tried, a bit of anger leaked into his voice.

"No!" Nanao glared at him, but her glare died as she looked into Shunsui's hurt eyes. "She wasn't safe with us. Central 46 trying to get their hands on her. Your family doing the same. I couldn't stand to see my daughter in such a position." Nanao was in near tears. It was almost as bad as after she had left Sakura in the world of the living. "So, I asked Urahara to hide her. That way she could be safe...and have a normal life. No politics, no plotting, no danger. Even if that meant we would never see her." Tears leaked from her eyes as she buried her face in Shunsui's chest.

Shunsui hugged Nanao tightly. He understood why she had done what she had done. But it didn't make it hurt any less. His eyes traveled to the door of the room. He could still faintly feel the reiatsu of the woman Jushiro was with. His eyes darkened as he recognized pieces of its signature. "Nanao-chan, is the Sakura that was here...our Sakura?"

Nanao easily recognized Shunsui serious tone of voice. "You noticed her signature?" She felt him nod his head on top of her own head. "She has more of you than me. Even personality wise." She giggled as she remembered their conversation before the men had shown up.

Shunsui smiled as he hugged Nanao. His eyes then turned and glared at the door.

Nanao sighed as she felt the shift in her husband's reiatsu. "Shunsui, don't freak out."

"And why shouldn't I?! My best friend was just making out with my daughter. In front of me even!" Shunsui was struggling internally. His fatherly instincts told him to chop Jushiro into little...tiny...pieces. But the rest of him was holding him back. He couldn't kill his best friend. Hurt maybe, but not kill.

"Is that really what is bothering you?" Nanao laughed a bit at Shunsui's reaction. "She is old enough to chose who she dates."

"But he is old enough to be her father! Jushiro is even older than me!" Shunsui was quickly trying to find a way to break up his daughter and his best friend.

Nanao sighed as she watched the gears in Shunsui's mind turn. "May I remind you, I was a child when we first met. So you are also old enough to be my father."

Shunsui smiled at Nanao as waved that fact away. "But this is different." Shunsui kissed his wife's brow. "I'll be back in a little bit." He began walking to the door as he located two specific reiatsus.

Nanao sighed as she watched her husband leave. "Don't do anything rash." She called out to her husband as he turned the corner and was out of sight. "Poor Jushiro. Hopefully Shunsui doesn't go too hard on him."

Jushiro covered his mouth as another sneeze passed through him. "Someone is talking up a storm about me."

Sakura giggled as she hugged Jushiro's arm. She had to admit that this day was improving. She stopped when she felt a slightly angry reiatsu coming closer to them. Sakura noticed that Jushiro had also moved his focus to the fast approaching shinigami. "Seems like daddy-chan isn't happy."

Jushiro looked at Sakura with puzzlement. He knew the reiatsu heading towards them very well. He had spent a plenty of centuries with the man as his best friend. And to feel it slightly angry and heading towards them, didn't bode well.

Shunsui's landed in front of them and smiled from under his tilted hat. "Hello again."

Jushiro gave his friend an uneasy smile. "Shunsui, what's wrong?"

Shunsui looked between his friend and his daughter. "Sakura-chan, can daddy borrow Ukitake?"

Sakura noticed Jushiro stiffen as her father spoke. She looked from Jushiro to her father. She guessed it had something to do with her. She sighed as she gave her father a smile. "Alright. But make sure to bring him back." Sakura turned to Jushiro. She stood up on her toes and placed a kiss on the shocked man's cheek. "Sorry." She whispered as she took a step back.

Jushiro was still in shock as Shunsui wrapped an arm around his neck and dragged him away with a shunpo. All he knew, was that he was at the mercy of his best friend. Because he was dating his daughter.

Well that was fun. Poor Jushiro. Shunsui even referred to him with his family name. Shunsui protective father mode, activate!
