The 6 foot angelic mamodo with blue, shining armor waved the insults off of him as mere words. "The name is Barron" The mamodo said as he folded his wings behind his back.
"Kano" The book owner said as he pointed at himself with his thumb.
"You villains will pay for your sins" Barron spread his wings wide apart, and he held his arms out, facing his palms towards Van and Shizi. "Kano!"
Kano opened his silver book, and the book glowed a bright white color. "Beruka!"
The same clear sound wave was sent towards us. Shizi quickly jumped to the left, and Van rolled to the right. Van closed the spell book, and Shizi changed back into the little girl she was at first. Shizi looked at Barron with an intense glare, and Barron looked back at her with a stern look. Van opened his spell book and quickly turned to the page he could read for the third spell. Shizi began to run towards Barron.
"Seiru!" Van shouted.
She jumped into the air, transformed into the beast and began to charge towards Barron. She was about to bite through Barron's helmet, but then Barron caught her beast form by her wolf's upper and lower mouth. Van stood in shock.
Kano smirked as he opened his book again. "Beruka!"
The sound wave blasted Shizi away while she was caught by Barron. She landed next to Van and changed back into her human form. Van knelt down next to her to try and make her stand.
"C'mon, get up, Shizi" He saw as he poked her.
"Oh, I'm fine" She said sarcastically as she covered her ears, probably because of the sound wave, "Thanks for asking"
Shizi slowly got up, and Barron walked towards both of them. Barron walked slowly, waiting to see if there was going to be some kind of trap. Van placed the book in his jacket's inside pocket, and he carried Shizi over his shoulders and ran. Barron instantly appeared in front of them and pushed Van to the ground. Shizi fell off of his shoulders and onto the ground.
"Sinners must learn their sins the hard way, it seems" Kano said as he closed his book and walked to Barron's side, "Even if it's from a lowly duo of sinners using a mamodo's spells for evil"
Those words got to Van. Van got up, clenched his teeth together, and he stared directly at Kano. "We're thieves, so what?"
He punched Kano across his face, and then Barron lifted Van by his shirt with one hand. Van still stared at Kano, who looked slightly impressed by Van's endurance. Kano wiped the side of his face and eased the pain of the bruise.
"We don't have anything to lose, no fame, no job, no friends, and no family either!" Van shouted.
Barron threw him to the concrete path of the park. That highly damaged him, but Van got up, determined to get his point across. Kano laughed. "What? Words matter nowadays?"
"Shizi and I only have each other to depend on, and we won't let our partnership fall apart!"
Barron push kicked Van back, and Van fell down next to Shizi. Shizi got up slowly and stared at Barron with rage. Van sat up. He looked at the orangish light coming from his book, unaware of what was happening to it. The book was glowing brightly, brighter than it would when casting a spell. After it stopped glowing, he opened it and scrolled through it. He found the new fourth spell that he could read. "Ganzu Seirudoruk!"
Shizi transformed into the same beast, but she looked even stronger. The wolf was bulky and a lot larger than Barron, about 12 feet tall. The horns were even larger, the bat wings were crimson colored and larger, and the razor sharp claws and teeth were sharper and black. The eyes glowed red. The transformation scared even Van. It was a true nightmare.
Barron held his palms out towards Shizi, and Kano read the strongest spell they had. "Gigano Beruga!"
The same sound wave, but a lot larger, pierced through Shizi. Shizi didn't take any damage and walked towards Barron. The ground shook as Shizi walked towards Barron and Kano. Both of them began to run. Shizi pounced on Barron only, clawing through the Barron like prey. Van looked at Kano, who was still running away, but out of nowhere, his silver book began to burn with white flames. Barron began to disappear slowly as the book burned.
Van closed the book and fell to the ground exhausted, even more exhausted than he usually would be. Shizi changed back to her human form and walked next to Van. Van held his hand over his heart and breathed heavily.
"Get up" Shizi said as she sat down.
"Just... Just give me a sec" Van said as he looked over to her. "What kind of spell was that anyway?"
"Does it matter?" Shizi said as she smiled, "As long as my book doesn't get burnt, we're good"
"Wait, I hear the cops" Van said as he tried to get up. He fell back down, but Shizi caught him this time. "We gotta get out of here"
"Remember what you said before that fight?" Shizi said as she lowered him, "'Save' someone and get cash?" She winked.
"Oh" Van said as he thought about it. "Oh! I get it"
By the time a police car arrived, they saw Van on his back, bruised from the mamodo battle, the battle they didn't witness. They saw Shizi kneeling on the ground in front of him, crying. The two police officers got out of the car and walked up to the both of them.
"Is he okay?" The fat officer asked.
"Yeah, we saw that... Giant thing and came over as fast as we could!" The skinny officer stated.
"H-He jumped in my way and took a blow for me!" Shizi said as she wiped the fake tears off of her face. "Please, you have to help him!"
Few weeks later, Shizi and Van were in the coffee shop. Van had black coffee, and Shizi had several caramel candies because of the recent fight. They were still laughing about how they got away with the event those weeks ago.
"200,000 dollars, minus the fees for a fractured arm by that angel dude, added to the bank account now, would you believe that?" Van said as he leant back in the chair. "Life's full of surprises"
"I know, now you don't need my pictures for a part of our profit" Shizi replied as she devoured one of the larger candies.
"I wouldn't get rid of that method so quickly" Van said as sipped the coffee.
Shizi choked on the candy as Van laughed harder. "NOT -cough- FUNNY!" She said as she stopped choking.
"If it's not funny, then why did you smile just then?" Van said as he chugged the rest of the coffee down. He stared at her with a smirk me waited for a response.
Shizi puffed up her cheeks and stared back at him. Van didn't change his expression at all. Shizi continued to try to keep a straight face, but then she began to burst with laughter. Van began to laugh too. Shizi laughed and then made a straight face afterwards.
"Really though, we're never doing pictures again" She said as she glared at Van.
"Fine, have it your way" Van said as looked out the window.
