I should apologize. What with working and my sister needing a place to stay and my grandmother dying, I haven't found a good time to write in a while.
Disclaimer: Sadly, my life is to hectic right now to think of owning DC Comics, DCU, or DCAU.
Wally's POV
The media just had to make a mess out of everything! No one was hurt, but that apparently didn't excuse that the Justice League fired a giant nuclear cannon at Earth. And, yeah, Wally could see where that was coming from, but still!
The red head sighed and turned the TV off. (It was too slow anyway.) He'd been given a day off from League business, and he was really, really, really bored out of his mind. The kids were at school, so he couldn't spend time with them, and crime had finally slowed down. That's mostly because the Rogues hates hurting my kids, though.
He frowned at the thought. It was good, but Hartley seemed weird the last few times Wally saw him. It was like the guy was afraid to play his flute too much. That just didn't sit right with the Speedster. The other man was his friend, had been since Wally had started sixth grade after he moved in with his aunt and un – his parents. Their homeroom desks were beside each other.
They weren't friends right away. Hartley was a rich band geek, while he himself was a science geek. They found a mutual friend in James, who sat two rows away, but that was it. That was until their science teacher started teaching about sound waves and vibrations. The two boys would end up spending a lot of time talking about it, and soon became close. They became really good friends after he found out that the other's parent would ignore him (sometimes hit him) for not being the kind of son they wanted. They even tried to have another kid, so they could disown him, but that never happened.
That friendship had never faded. They still met up every once in a while to have lunch and talk. Wally talked about whatever was on his mind that day, and Hartley described whatever new charity he was donating to. James rarely joined them, but sometimes when he was in the mental hospital again, they would all play darts. Wally had even set the other two up on their first date.
Back to the issue at hand: Hartley was acting strange. The Speedster stood up and went to his room to get ready. He had a friend to talk to.
-LINE BREAK-
He was really glad that Hartley didn't like his office; it was hard on the guy's ears, what with their super hearing and all. He didn't have to come up with an explanation if he just arrived at the mansion. Likewise, his friend didn't have to pretend to be surprised that he was there. Does he ever get surprised at all? If he can hear everything that's going on, then…
His thoughts were interrupted as their subject walked downstairs. The other red head looked worn and tired. His hair was in a mess, and his face showed obvious fright, but his usually bright fern colored eyes were blank and dull with resignation.
"Why are you here, Wally," the other man asked in a tired voice.
TBA…
I know it's short. Next update will be longer. Promise! The plot's already in my head and everything!
