Wow; writing this was harder than I thought. Sorry for the extremely late update. I've been really busy.
Disclaimer: No DC, DCU, or DCAU for me.
Wally's POV
Sitting in the living room, Wally stared at his friend. He had just finish explaining why he was worried about the other redhead, and Hartley was quiet. He seemed to be thinking, the he sighed and started explaining.
"I've been having weird dreams lately," the villain began. "At first, I didn't think much of them. I haven't been to Iron Heights in a while, but I've heard enough stories about how Wolfe treats his prisoners to know what it's like in there right now. Plus, I kept dreaming that I was accused of my parents' murder. They've been dead for years, so there was no reason to take any stock in the dreams. They started to affect me, though, when I dreamt that I was arrested for Bart's murder."
Wally clenched his fists. Just the thought of his oldest dying felt like his heart was being put through a meat grinder. He listened to his friend some more.
"In the dreams, I'm handcuffed to James," Hartley smiled with pain in his eyes, "and he's a total homophobe. We escape and spend weeks together. Eventually, Deadshot, you know, that mercenary, tries to kill me. James ends up dying instead, as does Deadshot."
The Scarlet Speedster nodded and tried to speak, only to be interrupted. "One day, I was eating lunch when I was suddenly transported to another planet. A man, I think he said his name was Darksied or something, said that he had been giving me those dreams. He… he said he would really have James killed in front of me unless I used the Anti-Life Equation. I didn't know what he was talking about, but he kept taunting me, and, and, I KILED HIM WALLY!" Tears started running down the musician's cheeks. "I just… I thought playing my flute… I was just trying to make him stop, but his head just… it exploded, and…" He broke down, sobs wracking his body as he held his head in his hands.
Wally spent a few seconds objective time to think of what to do. He then got up and walked over toward his friend. Putting his hand on the other man's shoulder, he began to speak. "I know who you're talking about, Hart, and he is, was, bad news. You did everyone a favor by getting rid of him. You're not a bad person, not really. You just protected the person you loved and possibly saved the entire planet. You're good." Even though the ends don't justify the means in the League's eyes. Ah, what they don't know won't hurt them.
-LINE BREAK-
Thad's POV
Thad walked into one of the school's bathrooms. He saw his brother come in here limping. (But why was he limping?) He saw Bart sitting in the far corner of the room, bruises and tears marring his face.
The older speedster tried to stand when he saw the other, but nearly feel. Thad raced over to give Bart a shoulder to lean on. No words needed to be exchanged; Thad had heard rumors about his brother: he ate too much to be normal, he was just too smart, he never seemed bothered by wounds he got the day before, etc. The most incriminating thing about him, in the other students' eyes, was that Bart seemed to like boys more than girls. (Well, duh, he two! Nobody tends to show an inclination towards the opposite gender at that age!) The blond did suspect that his brother might be gay, but that really didn't matter to him.
Plus, he wouldn't mind having Tim as a brother-in-law.
TBA…
Poor Hartley. I'm pretty sure this happened in the comics, but I could be off on a few details. I love the guy, though. And Trickster. I ship them. And TimXBart.
Suggestions are always welcome. I'll update when I can.
