Here's the long awaited continuation. I know it's been quite awhile since I've had an update and hopefully I'll be able to keep you guys updated. Thank you for the comments and continued support! Now enjoy!
She was no longer the speedy vampire and Klaus the immortal hybrid that they each once were. They both were powerless and easy targets. How the hell were they suppose to defend themselves now? The tides had turned and all of their enemies would know soon enough.
Caroline couldn't pull herself out of the dreams that kept haunting her sleep. Her weakened body tossed back and forth. Her thoughts were running ramped with no way of stopping them. Her dreams kept putting her and Klaus in the same situation of being weak and immortal.
She couldn't lie to herself completely though. The idea of both her and Klaus being immortal and being able to have a life together different from their lives now had a rather tasty appeal to it. However, the thought of both of them being powerless was less appealing. She liked her power and part of what she liked about Klaus was his intoxicating way he flaunted his power. It was a turn off for a lot of people, but it brought her nearly to her knees seeing him wield that power like it was never to be taken away.
That sweet thought disappeared though as it was replaced by Tyler ripping Klaus to shreds because of his lack of power. Her body began shaking uncontrollably. She could feel tears sliding down her face. Hands grabbed her to still her body. They held her tightly in place until her thoughts disappeared and her body relaxed back into a deep sleep.
It wouldn't be long before a more violent battle would take its place inside her body and the sleep was all she could hold onto before having to fight perhaps the worst battle of her life. A struggle that would decide whether or not she was able to withstand being turned back into human and to whoever knows what after that.
Rebekah could see the struggle in the young vampire as she released her grip from her. She sighed and rubbed her forehead with the back of her hand. This was going to be a long day. Eventually she'd have to try to get Caroline conscious enough to get some kind of food in her body. She was going to need any and all the strength and energy that she could get.
She could hear the front door open and shut. Carefully she pulled Caroline's sheets up over her shoulders and rose from her position. She inched her way out of the bedroom and toward the staircase. She looked down the stairs to see both Elijah and Klaus walking toward another room in the house. She slowly walked down and watched Elijah lay Klaus down on an old sofa. It was an antique and rare to find. She had searched for decades trying to find exactly the one that she had liked.
"Is he bleeding Elijah?" She slowly asked her brother.
"Matt Donovan shot him when he went after Tyler Lockwood." He said simply as he got his brother comfortable.
"Really Elijah? You put him on the most expensive, rare piece of furniture we have." The annoyance was all she could do to keep her mind off of the issues at hand.
"I'm sorry for the inconvenience little sister." Klaus drawled out. He was clearly not amused with her sudden attachment to the couch. "I thought maybe the thought of your brother being shot and bleeding out would be enough for you to get over your obsession with this couch. We can always get another one."
"It's rare Nik!" Rebekah snapped back at him. "You really have no appreciation for the classics."
"Oh believe me Rebekah. I have an appreciation for the classics; just not when I'm not healing." He glowered at her. He was trying to keep his voice even to avoid yelling at his sister, but the pain in his knees was excruciating.
"You're not healing?" Rebekah watched her brother carefully. She held her breath waiting for his answer.
"Not like I should be." He said with irritation. "I'm a bloody original hybrid! No virus can keep me down and from healing!"
Rebekah let out her breath in a silent sigh as she made eye contact with Elijah. "This isn't good."
"No, Rebekah, it most certainly is not good." Elijah said slowly, his eyes drifting over his brother. He had been worried before by what his sister had said of the disease, but now… Now it was affecting their family. This was not allowed. It was not possible. "We need to find who started this."
"I know Elijah. But how?" Rebekah questioned hopelessly. Her eyes had already misted over. "I had tried for years."
"I will turn over every stone and then some to find the person responsible for this. We will find who it is Rebekah. I can assure you of that." His eyes were fiery in determination. His voice held a conviction and stubbornness that Rebekah had only seen during times of dire need. "I will not rest until we find a cure for our brother. We will fix this."
