"Elijah, you need to give me some of your blood! Now!" Klaus stirred in the bed. He inched his way closer to the edge.
"Niklaus, you've already said that it doesn't work." Elijah turned away from the window to face his brother.
"Brother, I'm part werewolf. Caroline was not. You're either going to need my help or we are going to have to put up one hell of a strong front. Either way, we need to risk it." Klaus kept his voice even and level, but it was hard not to show his urgency in the matter.
"Rebekah?" Elijah was rolling up his sleeve, but clearly was on the edge about the matter.
"Elijah if you do this, you need to put your blood into something for him. We can not risk you getting this sooner than needed." Rebekah grabbed a cup from the nearby nightstand. "Nik does have a point. We can give it a try."
Elijah bit into the palm of his hand as Rebekah held the cup underneath him. He squeezed his fist into the cup, praying that this idea would work. "Are you sure about this?" He eyed up Klaus.
"As sure as anything right now brother." He inched over enough to swing his legs to the floor. Caroline was still unconscious next to his spot on the bed. He tried not to bump into her the best that he could. He could see her shaking ever so slightly as it continued to fight the virus.
Rebekah handed her brother the cup. She looked back at Elijah. "We're going to need a plan b. We need someone on the outside to start researching. We need answers and we can't go out to find them. We can't be responsible for spreading this."
"You are right Rebekah." Elijah rolled back down his sleeve and pulled out a handkerchief to wipe up the remaining blood on his already healed bite. "And I think I have just the person for the job."
"Who?" Rebekah asked as she watched her brother hold out his hand as he pulled his cell phone up to his ear.
"Cami?" He clarified of the voice on the other end.
"Do not involve her brother!" Klaus aggressively snapped. A twist of protectiveness and frustration filled his words.
Elijah eyed up his brother for a moment before leaving the room to finish his call in silence.
"Rebekah, she's a mortal. Human. This is way too dangerous for her." Klaus was clear with his words.
"Cami can take care of herself, Nik. She's been trained. She's probably the safest option for this job. Whoever is doing this is human. They are only going to trust a human." Rebekah justified Elijah's decision, but she herself still had some worries about the matter.
Camille O'Connell had proven herself multiple times over everything that they all had been through. She was the local bartender that knew about the supernatural beings and had a history of family either fighting them or keeping the peace. She would be perfect for the job and would have only their best interests in mind.
"But if there's someone else…"Klaus was cut off.
"There is nobody else Nik! We don't exactly do well with none-supernatural beings!" Rebekah snapped. "You don't usually keep them alive for very long."
"So this is my fault?" Klaus was growing frustrated. He stood up to stand in front of his sister.
"I didn't say that…" Rebekah quickly justified.
Klaus walked toward her strongly. "Then what, my dear sister, are you saying?"
"Forget what I'm saying Nik. You're walking!" She changed the subject as she noticed for the first time of the new improvement.
Klaus looked down at the ground and back up at her. He backed away and took a few more steps to test everything out. He wasn't in nearly as much pain. It was much more manageable. He remembered Caroline coughing all of the blood up that he had given her. He wasn't doing that. In amazement he looked from Rebekah to Matt and back. "I'm walking! It's working."
Rebekah reached up and touched her brother's forehead. "You're still burning up Nik." She commented and pulled her hand back. "But this could work."
"It has to work Rebekah." He put his hand on her cheek. "Stay with Caroline. Protect her."
Matt stood up straighter as Klaus walked toward him.
"We are going to have a little chat with our trespassers." Klaus said clearly as he nodded to Matt. "Think you're still pretty good with that rifle?"
"If I don't have to kill anyone that I know, I'll be good." Matt nodded and began following him.
"Keep him safe Nik." Rebekah called after her brother before moving closer to check on Caroline.
"Your quarterback will come back in one piece sister." Klaus smiled at her worry. Tyler wouldn't let anyone hurt his friend and Matt wouldn't let Tyler do anything to get himself killed.
Elijah joined them at the base of the steps. He had just hung up the phone. "Good to see you walking Niklaus." He commented.
"You ready to greet these bastards, Elijah?" Klaus glanced at his brother before putting a hand on the doorknob.
"I was born ready Niklaus." Elijah fell behind the two. "Cami's going to look into our current problem and will let us know what she can find." He put his hand on Klaus's shoulder. "She assures me that she'll be cautious."
"She better be." Klaus said clearly as he opened the door. He took a few steps out to the silence of nobody in sight. He took a few more steps forward and stood tall. "Show yourself Lockwood." His voice was strong and intimidating. He was game for a good fight if that's what it came too.
Tyler stalked forward and stood a few yards away from the original hybrid. "This needs to be stopped Klaus. We don't need anymore to be infected."
"Is that what you told your volunteers when you recruited them? Did you tell them how you're already infected and now they are too?" Klaus watched for any uneasiness in Tyler's stance. He wanted to find a weakness. A breaking point to stop the young hybrid from doing anything foolish.
"They know the risks and are willing to take them. They have friends that they want to keep safe too." Tyler didn't flinch. His words were strong and forceful as well.
"We all have friends and family that could be infected. That means that we should be doing our best to keep from infecting others with this horrible virus and work on finding a cure. You infecting others, Tyler, is foolish and unfounded." Elijah stepped forward and spoke his peace.
"This started with Caroline, Elijah. We can't keep her alive to spread this to more." Tyler said clearly. His words clearly showed his confidence in his solution.
"This virus did not start with her. You can be assured of that. We have our sources out checking on the originality of where this started. All you can do is go home and stay put. It will do everyone a world of good." Elijah spoke clearly. His words showed his sincerity. He also had a knack with words.
Tyler shifted in his spot. "For how long Elijah? How long do we really wait before we're all dead and this spreads more?"
"Rebekah's dealt with this in the past. We just need to be assured that we can find a cure. If you have any sources that can't get the virus, then I encourage you to reach out to them and we find out exactly where this began and how to stop it." Elijah stepped closer to Tyler. "Will you join us in finding a cure and stopping this or will you stand against us and face the wrath that I can guarantee will come your way?"
Tyler looked at the three men carefully. He was trying to choose his options carefully. Should they wait? Should they proceed with their original plans? He looked back at the hidden supernatural creatures that were waiting on his decision. He looked back at Elijah. "We'll wait. For now. But if we catch anyone leaving the property that could have the virus we will put them down. We'll give you time, but not much."
"We'll take it. Now get off our property, Lockwood." Klaus growled at him. He could feel some pain inching its way back into his knees, but he wouldn't give his enemy the satisfaction of seeing it. They'd take advantage of the extra time. It was all they had for now.
