Rebekah ran down the steps to the front door. She opened it up with an intense speed. She didn't wait until she was sure things had calmed down. There was no time to wait. "Nik! I need you!"

Klaus turned around with a glare. Interrupting something so crucial could have been detrimental. At least business had just been completed. He marched back to the house with his eyes glowing. Tyler had that affect on him, as was he sure that the young hybrid probably was walking away with the same eye color change and irritation. He walked up to Rebekah dangerously. "What do you have to say that's so important sister that could not have waited for something as delicate as this situation to have abated?"

"It's Caroline. She's awake and…" Rebekah began, but couldn't seem to find the right words to say next.

"She's what sister? Do tell me." He said irritably.

"She can't see anything. She's blind Nik." Rebekah's eyes filled up with tears. "I haven't seen that as a symptom before. She's scared Nik. She's asking for you."

Klaus rubbed the tears that had unexpectedly filled his eyes as well. He pushed passed his sister and ran up the stairs. He could feel hot irritation shoot up his legs. Caroline was more important than his pain though. He needed to get to her. He needed to be by her. Nothing else could possibly compare to her or her safety.

"Klaus! Klaus!" Caroline's voice screeched out. It echoed from the walls in desperation. "Where are you?" She quietly moaned as her body sunk down in the nearest corner of the room. Tears stained her face.

Klaus reached the room just in time to see Caroline huddling in the corner. He hurried over to her. "I'm here, love. I'm right here." He sat down next to her and pulled her onto his lap, cradling her as close to him as he could.

"Hold me close Klaus. Don't let me go." Her body shook under the pleas. "Why can't I see you?"

"I don't know love, but I'll fix it." He kept his voice strong, but his inner core was shaking in uncertainty and fear. Fear that he didn't think was possible to feel. Fear of uncertainty and helplessness. He always found a way to help those that he loved, but with not being fully well himself that feat was becoming increasingly difficult. That was a feeling that he did not know well.

"Klaus, what's happening to me?"

Klaus's heart ached. "I don't know, my darling. It's a virus of sorts."

"Is it affecting you too?" She hesitated with her question as if she already knew the answer.

"Not as quickly, but it is." He could barely swallow the truth.

"It's just like my dream." She hardly could breathe out.

Klaus looked at her more clearly. "You're dream?"

Caroline nodded quickly. "That's why I had come to see you this morning. I couldn't stay away. It's a nightmare that I can't get out of my head. I haven't been able to sleep for a month without seeing it."

"What's the dream Caroline?" Klaus couldn't hold back his interest. It could hold something in it that could help them. Rebekah and Elijah stood in the doorway listening just as intently.

Caroline swallowed hard. "You were human, but something wasn't right. You were too pale. Your breathing was too labored. I was scared. Every night was the same dream, even more vivid than the night before with more detail each time. Something took your power and you have so many enemies. I didn't think you could make it through. You were dying."

"What happened to me, Caroline? Was it a virus?" Klaus asked intently. He needed to know if there was more unveiled truth.

"Perhaps, but the beginning was always fuzzy. It didn't make any sense. It just scared me." She replied as her body began shaking more. She fought back a moan, but it slipped through anyway.

"Caroline?" Klaus questioned her. His senses were peaked to her body and any changes.

"Something doesn't feel right Klaus. Something doesn't feel right…" She moaned again as she arched her back in pain. She began to scream. There was no way to hold the cries back.

"Rebekah?" Klaus shouted at his sister. "Rebekah, what's wrong with her?"

Rebekah was right next to them in an instant. She watched Caroline for a moment before feeling her head and slowly sliding her hands over her body – feeling for anything that didn't feel right. "I don't know for sure. Get her on the bed Klaus."

With every ounce of energy that he could muster he pulled himself up and set her on the bed. "Stay with me love."

Caroline's neck arched as her body tensed up. She let out another helpless cry.

Rebekah stopped checking her over and looked up at Klaus. "She's transitioning back to a human, Nik. She might not survive this."

"We have to do something. There's got to be something!" Klaus yelled helplessly. He looked up from Caroline and back to his sister. He searched her eyes looking for any form of deceit. He couldn't find any. He knew she was telling him the truth.

"We can only wait. There's nothing that we can do." She backed away a few steps. Tears dripped down her face. "I'm sorry Nik."

He pulled his attention away from her and over to Elijah. His voice was desperate. "Have we heard anything from Cami? Has she found anything?"

Elijah shook his head. "She hasn't had enough time Niklaus. It's happening much to quickly. We have to find a way to make Miss Forbes comfortable and find a better way of controlling this."

Klaus stood up from his spot on the bed. "Control this? Brother, we do not know anything about this. How the hell are we suppose to control this?"

"Brothers, she needs rest. Take this discussion somewhere else please." Rebekah told them forcefully as she moved closer to their patient.

"Come on Niklaus, let's go downstairs and talk about a plan." Elijah waited for his brother calmly at the edge of the room.

Klaus lingered next to Caroline a few seconds longer before making his way out of the room. Each step was growing more painful and hard to do. His stubbornness was still in place though and he was not about to yield to the pain until forced.

The men made it down the stairs and into the kitchen. Elijah pulled out a chair for Klaus and walked to the other side of the table that was centered in the middle of the room.

Matt had already helped himself to some food out of the refrigerator. He eyed Klaus up carefully. "You're not looking very good Klaus." He noted on the hybrid's paleness.

Elijah stood up from his spot across the table and walked over to feel his brother's head.

"I'm fine Elijah!" He snapped. He didn't need another problem on their hands.

"You are not fine brother. You are burning up." Elijah stared at his brother with deep concern creasing his forehead.

"I told you already brother, I am fine." Klaus reminded him, but his body was clearly weakening.

Elijah turned away from his brother and walked to the other side of the room. "How did Miss Forbes react when you gave her your blood?" He turned on his heels and watched for any reaction in his brother.

Klaus immediately knew where he was getting at. "I am not just a vampire, Elijah."

"That is not what I asked you brother. How did she react?" Elijah waited patiently. His brows were furrowed together.

"She spit it all up and worsened faster after she had the blood." Klaus swallowed hard. "Is that what you want to hear brother?"

"Niklaus, I'm not trying to put you on the spot or make you feel uncomfortable in any way, but reality needs to be addressed here. I need to know everything." Elijah folded his arms in front of him.

Matt piped in as he looked to Elijah for answers. "Are you saying that any form of supernatural blood is a accelerant for this virus?"

"Yes, that is what I'm saying." Elijah sighed. "How are your legs Niklaus? Do not lie to me."

Klaus's jaw tightened, but he answered his brother. "They are growing worse brother. It is much faster than before."

Elijah wasn't surprised by the answer. He looked away for a moment as he linked things together. "So we know that blood accelerates the virus, as well as spreads it. We know that the virus takes away vampirism and turns the supernatural back to being mortal. We do not know how it affects hybrids or werewolves, but seeing how it's reacting to you my brother, I would venture to say that it affects them as well. We know that it had to have been started by a human that has to have some degree of knowledge on the supernatural along with biology and genetics. Who do we know that hates our kind that much with that kind of expertise?"

Klaus stared at his brother as he weighed the question out in his mind. There had to have been someone. There had to have been someone that they knew that had that kind of capability. They'd have to be working near to where they lived in order for it to be this affective.

"They'd have to have some knowledge in the medical field right?" Matt questioned quickly.

"To some degree, yes, they would. Do you know of anyone fitting that description Donovan?" Klaus questioned keenly and smiled. "Maybe you can earn your keep after all."

Matt gave him a look of displeasure, but didn't comment on the shot at him. "I don't know anyone with that degree of knowledge, but Dr. Nielson might. She works at the college."

"Do you have this good doctor's number by any chance?" Elijah already had his phone pulled out.

"Actually, I do. She was a friend of my mother's and insisted on checking up on me over the years." Matt pulled out his own cell phone and repeated the number to Elijah.

"Good work Donovan." Klaus said approvingly. He focused back on Elijah as his brother left the room with the phone up to his ear. "We might just have a link to whomever started this finally."
