Stop This Song- Paramore
Can someone stop this song, so I won't sing along?
Can someone stop this song, so I won't sing?
Your lovesick melody
is gonna get the best of me tonight
But you won't get to me, no
You won't get to me 'cause I won't sing
Castiel wandered around the Art museum gift shop, waiting for Meg as she perused the shelves of items. Meg had only been mildly interested in the Art they were looking at. Castiel suspected the only reason she'd agreed to go with him was to keep her days from blurring into each other. She had been with a while and she still gave no sign of leaving. That in itself was surprise, normally, by now, she'd be cagey, like a jungle cat. Pacing back and forth and ready to pounce at the first chance she got.
She had also been more affectionate than she'd been in quite a while. Grabbing his hand, intertwining her fingers with his at almost any chance. At night in bed, she'd snuggle close. All things should make Castiel feel good, and they did but he couldn't help thinking about Danielle.
Danielle…he was happier than happy that he'd finally had a chance to forget all the drama going on around them to just be near her..be close to her. He hated to leave her but he'd given Meg his word. And in turn, he'd given Dani his would he'd return later that evening.
He turn his attention to Meg as she moved slowly from section to section, sometimes pulling a book or an item from the shelf, sometimes merely tilting her head to read a title. He watched her gestures waiting for some stir of the old love he used to feel for her, waiting for it to overtake him, the way it used to, like ocean waves. Now all he felt was a familiar warmth…the same he felt for Dean..or Jo..or maybe even Sam.
"Hey Clarence, what are you staring at?" she asked slightly humored tone.
He shook his head to clear the fog of his thoughts and smiled "Nothing really, just watching you pick up everything in the store."
She stuck her tongue out at him. "What's with you?"
He looked at her surprised "Um..nothing?"
"Nothing, huh?" she asked eyeing him suspiciously "You've been moony all day."
Castiel's eyebrows crashed together "Is that even a real word?"
"Yeah, it's a real word. It means head in the clouds and you've been moony," she snapped as she walked towards him.
He shrugged as she reached him and together they began to walk out of the shop"And you've been kinda moody. What's going on with you?"
It was Meg's turn to shrug "A lot on my mind, I guess."
Castiel waited before asking "Do you want to talk about it?"
Meg inhaled deeply before finally saying "Yeah, yeah I do."
Castiel turned toward her in surprise. "Ok, shoot."
She stopped in the middle of the museum. "Cas, I need your help. I need you..to do something for me…to help me..it's the only way…"
"Of course, Meg, you know if I can, I will."
"You can, Cas, you just have to say yes," she pleaded softly
"To what, Meg?"
Taking his hands in hers, she took a deep breath again and said "I need you to be with me."
For years, longer than he could even remember, Castiel had wanted Meg to say those words to him. But now that she'd said them, he didn't know how to respond. His voice was hoarse when he said her name "Meg, I…."
"I know," she said laughing nervously "That timing..it's bad. I just…I need you…to help me..I have a daughter…"
"A daughter?" he questioned, raising his eyebrow in surprise.
"Yes," she replied in a husky voice, tear pricking the corner of her eyes "Maisie. And Crowley…he won't let me see her..."
"Meg, why didn't you tell me?" he asked but she put her hand up to stop him "I didn't say anything because I didn't know how you'd react."
"Meg, I'm your friend, you know…"
"No I didn't know," she insisted "But I see now and that's why I need your help…"
"How can I help?" he asked hoping she wasn't about to ask him to help her kidnap Maisie.
"I have to settle down. Get my life straight so I have a chance to get my daughter back and I can't do it it alone…"
The air left Castiel's lungs. He knew what she was going to say before she said it.
"I need you to be with me, Cas. You're my guardian angel, my savior. We can settle down and be happy," she insisted, the tears finally making their way down her cheeks.
"Meg, I don't know…I mean..I have school…"
"You can finish, Cas, I can get a job. We can get an apartment together or maybe a small house somewhere in the suburbs. We can go back to Lawrence." she continued.
"I can't just pick up and leave her..my friends are here, my life..." he said softly and added "Dani."
Meg closed her eyes at the sound of the girls name. "Please, Cas…I'm begging. It's the only way…"
"I have to think…" he replied, thinking about what she was asking. It was too much, but could he really say no? "Can I have some time?"
"Sure Cas," Meg said wiping her tears "You can have some time. But please know, if you help me, I'll devote my life making you happy. Promise to just consider that."
"I promise, Meg."
