I Don't Love You- My Chemical Romance

Well, when you go
Don't ever think I'll make you try to stay
And maybe when you get back
I'll be off to find another way
And after all this time that you still owe
You're still the good-for-nothing I don't know
So take your gloves and get out
Better get out
While you can
When you go
Would you even turn to say
"I don't love you
Like I did
Yesterday"

Castiel waited patiently for the band to wrap up and move to the dressing area backstage. It seemed as if they were taking their sweet time.

Charlie saw him approach and threw her hands up. "No, Cas, now is not a good time.."

"A good time for what? I need to talk to Danielle," he insisted as he moved forward.

"She doesn't want to talk to you right now.." Gilda added softly.

His normally calm demeanor was gone. "I just need to explain..You've got to let me talk to her.."

Gilda looked at him sympathetically but Charlie crossed her arms across her chest "Cas, you can't."

"Charlie, c'mon..I don't know what Meg told her but whatever it was..it's not… it's not..true," he insisted.

"Well maybe you should put a leash on that…" Charlie spat but Gilda cut her off "Cas, I'm not sure what's happening. It's obvious you aren't quite sure what's happening but you need to give her some time."

"You've got to be kidding me," Castiel muttered under his breath as he ran his hand through his inky dark hair.

Chuck moved forward and placed his hand on Cas' shoulder "C'mon man, let's go find Dean," he said as he steered him towards the bar.

As they moved toward the front of the bar, Meg was lounging gracefully on a barstool, smiling.

"What did you tell her?" Castiel demanded, his voice low and rough.

Meg's eyes widened with innocence "What are you are talking about?"

"What…did…you…tell her?" his voice took on a menacing tone and his normally serene eyes became an intense blue.

Meg's eyes narrowed as she chuckled slightly "I told her the truth."

"What truth?" he demanded.

"Cas, man, you need to calm down," Chuck said calmly placing his hand on Castiel's shoulder again.

Castiel brushed off his hand and moved closer to Meg "What truth?"

"That I love you," Meg said with a slight grin on her face "That we are finally going to be together."

"Why would you do that?" he demanded but she didn't waver.

"Because she needed to know. I needed to make her see how much I wanted to be with you."

"I told you," he said raising his voice a bit "that I needed to think about it."

Meg rushed up to him taking both his hands in hers "What's to think about, Cas? You love me, I love you..we can make it work."

He pulled his hands away roughly "And what? We play family…you want me to give up everything to play house with you and your daughter, who as far as I can tell you haven't even seen since you've been here with me and live happily ever after?"

"That's not fair," she replied, anger leaking into her voice at the mention of her daughter "Crowley won't let me see her…."

"Yeah, I know," he retorted "You need me to help you…and I would have..somehow….but I wanted it to be my decision, not yours. Not something you forced me to do, something you guilted me into doing. I just wanted some time."

"I don't have time, Cas," she yelled exasperated.

"Meg, you can't..can't go around hurting people to get what you want."

"Who did I hurt, Cas?" she laughed "Dani? Don't you think you've hurt her enough stringing her along all this time. I did her a favour."

"That's not true..I didn't…I never meant to.."

"Of course you did!"Meg laughed again "You brought me to her apartment, you left me to stay there..and she took me in because she thought it would win brownie points with you."

"She took you in," Castiel explained through his clenched teeth. "Because she's a good person." Something you couldn't possibly understand, he added in his head but didn't say aloud.

"Castiel, I just…wanted us to have a chance. I want to be with you. Is that so wrong?"

Castiel shook his head to try to clear some of the anger. He rubbed his temple with his hand and then ran it over his face. Blinking a few times, he tried to refocus.

"Let's go home, Cas," she said softly, trying to take his hand.

"No, Meg,"he said firmly pulling his hand away

"What?" she said through a nervous laugh.

"I said no. You can't come home with me. I need time alone," he emphasized.

"Where am I supposed to go, Cas?" Meg threw her hands up in frustration.

Castiel looked embarrassed but he soldiered on "I don't know, Meg..I just don't know. I do know that you really crossed the line this time and ..I can't…I gotta go."

He moved toward the door as she fell into stride with him.

"Castiel, don't do this. I love you," she pleaded, seeing her plan falling apart.

"I love you too, Meg, maybe not like you want me to but maybe in time…"

"Castiel, you can't do this. I don't have anywhere else to go," she argued as they approached his Mustang.

That stopped him in his tracks and he felt guilty but he persevered, something he'd never done before. "Meg, you hurt Danielle for no reason but to get what you wanted. You can do whatever you want to me but when you start hurting innocent people that's where I draw the line. Go back to the apartment. Stay there…if you want…I just can't..I'm not coming home with you."
