After the black stealth jet from the X-men appeared Professor X asked the Master Chief to join one of them in the medical bay, to where he was escorted to by Natasha Romanov, or Black widow. He left Cortana with the Avengers on the Bridge on her own request, trusting her judgement.
"So, how long have you had this armor Chief?" Natasha asked in an obvious bid to occupy the silence that had formed between them.
"A few days." was his only response, the silence between them grew until it was cut by another question.
"What did you do in those few days to put that suit in that condition? It looks tougher than anything Tony could make, but it looks like it's been through hell and back."
"I fell from orbit, saved Earth, stopped galactic genocide, and defeated a galaxy consuming parasite capable of consuming all sentient life."
"Oh, well that explains it," Black Widow smiled, "We're here."
Inside the medical bay there was a tall woman in an armored Kevlar jump suit with bright red hair and a young woman who looked barely out of her teens with a white streak in her hair, behind them both was a wild looking man with spiked hair in an armored suit with yellow highlights. When the door opened all of them turned to stare at the Master Chief in what seemed to be awe. Finally after the brief pause the red hair woman introduced herself.
"Hi, I'm Grey, it's nice to meet you Chief." She extended her hand and John shook it, mindful not to crush her petite hand under his gauntlet. He caught her use of his moniker, maybe she was more than a simple doctor.
"Hiya, I'm Rogue," the young lady with white streaks in her hair said with a smile.
"You can call me Wolverine, Tin Can," the wild man said waving his hand nonchalantly, which now had knives protruding from between his knuckles. The blades gave John pause, as did the Tin Can comment.
"Master Chief Petty Officer Spartan 117," John offered his hand to Wolverine and made sure to apply some of his lethal grip to his shake when they shook hands.
"Christ, that's some shake you have there." Wolverine said, rubbing his knuckles after.
"Logan!" Dr. Grey said, arching her eyebrow in a warning manner, "Chief, Xavier told me you have a broken finger, internal bleeding and a whole litany of other issues, is that correct?"
"Yes ma'am." He nodded.
"Alright, then I'm going to need you to remove your armor."
"That's not possible ma'am, I don't have the required tools to remove it."
"Well just guide me through removing it, I'll use my telekinesis to undo the fasteners."
"I think it would be better if I just helped," said an aged man that had just walked in, carrying a deep red metal helmet.
"Magneto," Dr. Grey said tensely, as she addressed him, Wolverine extended his claws as Rogue put some distance between herself and Magneto.
" , you don't control metal, this is my area of expertise, not yours." Magneto said in a tone of voice that belied the respectful use of her title.
"Fine, but I'm warning you, don't try anything." Natasha spoke up, previously forgotten by everyone in the room.
"As the lady said, I won't try anything." Magneto assured in a sarcastic tone, "Stay still."
With that said, Magneto lifted the Chief up off the ground a half inch and began disassembling his armor. Fasteners and lock pins disengaged, letting heavy armor plates come off and float to the ground in a circle, finally the helmet was lifted off after a hiss of pressurized air. A face paler than any had ever seen before was revealed with old surgical scars marring the otherwise calm face and soon afterwards, the last piece of armor floated to the ground, leaving a seven foot tall, heavily muscled figure still floating above the ground. In essence, the man under the armor was the pinnacle of human physicality, not too muscled to the point of being bulky, but still athletic and lethal looking. Only Captain America compared to him in build, but even he was smaller.
"My dear boy, does that metal cover all of your skeleton, or just some of it?" Magneto asked, shocking everyone in the room.
"That's classified," John said without missing a beat.
"You might be the only human I've liked in a long time." Magneto smirked as he set the Spartan down.
Rogue stepped closer to the Spartan, mindful to not step on any of the armor parts, and beckoned Wolverine to her side. Without warning she grabbed the wildman and the Spartan a split second afterwards.
Both men fell to their knees as she closed her eyes and scrunched her face in concentration. Slowly she let go of Wolverine and he stood up and she placed her now free hand on John and together they both gasped. She started crying and saying "No" over and over again as if reliving horrible memories. Eventually she let go of him and started crying as she crumpled in a fetal position on the floor mumbling incoherently.
Wolverine grabbed the now standing super soldier by the neck in anger. He grunted when the Master Chief returned the favor picking him up off the ground effortlessly.
"You, what did you do to her, you bastard?"
"I didn't do anything. I don't even know what she did, all I felt was her touch and then I felt my injuries fading and disappearing, even the old ones."
A sharp whistle gathered the attention of both the men and Magneto who was watching in confused interest. They turned to the person that whistled to see Dr. Grey kneeling next to Rogue holding her head in her hands, her eyes closed "Wolverine, he didn't do this. It's not his fault, She accidentally absorbed his memories, I think, she's in so much grief and sadness that she can't comprehend it." The men dropped their hands from each others throats.
"What do you mean she absorbed my memories?" John asked in a cold anger, he was privy to highly classified information, not to mention his own memories of his family, his Spartans.
"She lost control of her power and it gave her a glimpse into your couldn't handle the pain and loss she experienced, and quite frankly I'm not far from her."
"What did she see?"
"A planet on fire, it has a haze of green debris around it with wreckage in orbit… There's so much pain in this memory. Do you know what she saw?"
"Yes, she saw the Fall of Reach."
