Okay so just to get it straight, flying at night while crying is not a good idea. It's dangerous. D.A.N.G.E.R.O.U.S! Especially when in some stupid dress with a stupid hair-do and stupid heels that you had to wear to some stupid wedding. Me crashing into that giant tree was all stupid Fang's fault, not mine. Apparently the giant tree knocked me out though, so when I woke up I was in some unfamiliar house and all was quiet. The position of the sun that I could see from the window on the wall closest to me told me it was about midday. My head was pounding like crazy.
"Nice of you to finally wake up, Max," an almost identical voice said warmly. I whipped my head around to see the pregnant Maya standing at the originally unnoticed doorframe with a mug of what smelled like hot chocolate in her hands. She came to kneel down beside me and handed me the mug of hot chocolatey goodness.
"So, where the hell am I?" I asked after taking a few sips.
"Well you crashed into a tree after taking off and were missing for a few hours. Fang and Holden found you eventually with a massive bruise on your head and one of your wings broken. Judging by the injuries, you won't be able to fly for at least a month." Maya said with sympathetic eyes.
"Alright, I'll call my flock to come pick me up." I said, trying to get up off the couch I had woken up on. I quickly gave that up though when I found that any movement whatsoever sent a flash of pain through me.
"No way, Max. We already talked to your flock and you're staying with us till you recover. Don't worry, we won't be around much since Ratchet, Kate, and Holden are going back to school while Star and I are working the new shop. In fact, Fang will probably be the only one around most of the time." Maya said, running off on her own train of thought.
"There is no way in hell that I'm staying here."
"Oh yes there is, even your mum said you should." An annoyingly familiar voice said darkly from the door frame, I could practically hear the smirk in their voice.
"Screw that, I'll take a train back home."
"With the way you broke your wing you won't be able to hide your wings without damaging them more." The stupid voice said.
"Well you know what, Fang? I'd rather never fly again then spend at least a month living with you." I snarled out harshly. My statement had obviously fazed Fang since he stepped out of the shadow of the door frame with almost sad eyes.
"You don't mean that, Max. I know you don't." Fang said quietly.
"I do Fang, I really do." I said again harshly.
"Guys, stop arguing! The babies can hear you." Maya whined with a pout as she put her hands on her belly.
"You mean the next generation of Tall Dark and Emo? Let them hear me!"I said before forcing myself up and trying to brush past Fang so that I could find a way out of this hell hole.
"Where do you think you're going, Max?" Fang barked angrily as he looked at me as I stumbled down the hallway, a stricken Maya in his arms.
"Anywhere but here!" I screamed as I began stumbling down the staircase I had found. Eventually I found the front door and left the house to wander the streets of god knows where, sticking to the alleys to hide my wings. As I was wandering a dizzy spell came over me and little black spots starting dotting the edges of my vision. I tried fighting it, but once again I passed out from the massive head bruise.
Eventually I woke up again in the same room on the same couch, but this time it was dark outside and the only source of light was from a small table lamp beside my head. I didn't even have to open my eyes to know all this, I could simply tell from the feel of the room. I could also sense that Fang was sitting in a chair across from the couch with his head in his hands, thinking I was asleep and couldn't hear him.
"Max, I know you aren't happy about how things are. I'm not either. Maya is carrying my twin babies, but they were pure accidents. So much has happened in the past 3 years and I've missed you and the flock so much. I just wish I could go back to the day of Total's wedding, or at least to the night I got Maya pregnant." Fang said softly before quiet heaving sounds came from him. I kept my eyes shut tight and pretended to sleep so that Fang would continue on.
"I still love you so, so much. But now that Maya is having my babies, I just can't leave her. I'm so sorry, Max, so very sorry." Fang finished before getting up and leaving the almost completely darkened room. It wasn't until I heard the door shut that I let my eyes flutter open and have a wave of excitement hit me. The babies were accidents! But that wave was quickly destroyed by a sudden thought. What could have possibly happened that would make Fang and Maya erm…reproduce by accident? I tried to think about it further but I was quickly stopped by another dizzy spell causing me to pass out that came with a dream.
"Hi mommy, how are you feeling?" A little girl who looked very much like me asked brightly.
"Erm, confused I guess. Wait, why'd you call me mommy?"
"Oh well you won't be confused for much longer! And because you are my mommy of course!" The little girl exclaimed happily.
"Are you sure? If I'm your mommy then who's your daddy?"
"Heehee I'm not allowed to tell you that yet!" The little girl said happily before skipping away. I tried going after her, but for some reason I was stuck.
The next morning I woke up wondering who the little girl was. I was also greeted by Maya again, this time Star was with her.
"Max we were just about to head down to the shop. We were wondering if you'd like to join us." Maya greeted me warmly. Thinking about how I had nothing else better to do I nodded in agreement and let them help me get ready to go out.
"Mom, what is this? Please explain! What's this about wings, little girls, accidental babies, and Total's wedding? Who are all these people!?" Dawn exclaimed frustrated at her mother whose eyes were fluttering shut for a nap.
"In all good time, Dawn, in all good time." Max said with a small smile before letting sleep come over her.
