Chapter Three: Loguetown

It took two days to reach Loguetown. Missy tied the boat off at the dock while Rachel moved the runner a little further from town. They didn't want people messing with it after all. Missy took a look around, wondering where the shops were so they could stock up on some food and water.

Rachel cut the engine to the runner and just stared. Docked a ways from the town was the Going Merry. "Who's sick twisted mind thinks this is an idea of a joke?" she growled. Rachel looked around, hoping to find somewhere else to leave the runner. To her dismay she couldn't find another spot. She could try to go to the other side of town, but that could draw attention and take more of her precious time. Decision made, Rachel moved the runner into the shadow of the Going Merry, hoping to remain unnoticed. She tied the runner up, left the jacket on the seat and then ran into town. She kept an eye on the Merry out of the corner of her eye. No one appeared to be on board. Now she had to find Missy, get their crap and get out of there.

Rachel skidded to a stop as she started to pass a sea craft shop. Her shopping list had a log pose and an eternal pose to Alabasta (if she was lucky to find one) on it. She put the search for Missy on hold, duty came first. It wasn't hard to find a log pose. A bit on the expensive side, but still a neccessary evil. She browsed the shop for a bit longer. Rachel got lucky to find that they had one last eternal pose to Alabasta. It was grossly expensive, but they should be able to make up the cost once they reach the Grand Line. Rachel headed for the clerk when she spotted some prime steel tubing she could use in her guns. 'I suppose Missy will have to make due without me for a little while,' she thought.

An hour later Rachel came out of the shop. She was weighed down by the pipes, wood and other material she needed for her guns. She backed out of the door with a grunt. As she turned around she bumped into another person. Her bags fell and spilled onto the ground. "I'm really sorry about that," she said. She didn't even look at the other person as she began to pick up her purchases.

Rachel's hand froze when she heard a low chuckle. She looked up to see Roronoa Zoro bending down with a smirk. He started to help her gather her spilled material. "This seems familiar," he joked. Once everything was repacked he stood up with the bags under his arms.

"Thank you for your help," Rachel said. She moved to take the bags back, but stopped when Zoro shook his head.

"Just lead the way," he said. "I can't let you take these yourself. You might run someone over that won't be able to handle it."

"You've just labeled me haven't you?" Rachel asked. She sighed when all Zoro did was smirk at her. "I'm never going to live this one down." Rachel started to lead the way back to the docks and the boat.

"We never introduced ourselves back at the bar," Zoro commented. "I'm Roronoa Zoro."

"I can't believe that you even remember that," Rachel pointed out. "At any rate, my name is Rachel."

The two quickly found themselves in front of the speed boat. Missy was on board, organizing her purchases. She stopped when she saw a shadow. "It's about time," she chided. "I didn't think you would dock the runner so far away from town." She turned to see that Rachel wasn't alone. Once again, Rachel's face was bright red. "You bumped into him again, didn't you?"

"Shut up."

Zoro jumped into the boat and started putting the bags down. "Where is your main ship?" he asked.

"For the moment, you're in it." Missy put one hand on her hip as she stared at the man. She was practically daring him to say something about it.

Zoro looked at the two of them in shock. "You came all the way from that island in this little thing?"

"In a manner of speaking," Rachel said.

Before Zoro could say anything the three heard his name being called. A teen in a red vest, shorts and a straw hat came up. "I'm glad I ran into you," he said. "I've been trying to find the square for ages now. I found it, but got chased off. I want to go back, but I'm really hungry now."

Zoro nodded as he got out of the boat. "It doesn't surprise me Luffy," he said. Zoro then turned to Rachel and Missy. "The two of you should come with us."

"Say what?" Rachel snapped her head to look at Zoro.

"Are they friends of yours Zoro?" Luffy asked.

"You could say that," Zoro said. "I met them a few years back. Around the same time that I met Johnny and Yosaku." Zoro put his hand on Rachel's shoulder. "This is Rachel and that's her older sister."

"My name is Missy," she said as she got out of the boat. She said it as much for Luffy as she did for Zoro. "But I'm afraid that we should really be heading out. We've got a long trip ahead of us and we don't want to waste the daylight."

"There's always time to eat," Luffy cheered. "Food always tastes better when you eat with friends. At least that's what Sanji says." He put his arm through Rachel's and started to run off with her. Zoro was following not far behind.

Missy stood by the boat, mouth wide open in shock. She shook herself out of the stupor and started chasing the two men kidnapping her friend. "Hey! Come back here with my little sister," she yelled.

At the restaurant Rachel was seated in between Luffy and Zoro. Missy had no choice but to take the seat across from her. "Are you two bounty hunters then?" Luffy asked with his mouth full of food.

"Not at all," Rachel answered. She turned to look at Missy. "I wouldn't call us merchants, but I wouldn't say we're anything else. We build everything that we sell."

"What do you build?" Zoro was now curious about the two.

"Tools that make home life more convenient," Missy spoke up. "Cooking and cleaning tools, lighting that's better than any lamp you can find."

"What do you mean, how does that work?" Luffy asked.

"We take energy that the sun gives off and use that to power our gadgets so that people don't have to do as much work," Rachel explained. She ignored the horrified look that Missy was giving her.

Luffy nodded his head as if he understood. "So they're mystery tools." Rachel caught Missy's eye and smirked at her. Zoro just let the conversation drop, he wasn't that interested in something that didn't involve fighting.

A while later Luffy was finally finished eating. "That was great," he cheered.

"It's a good thing I ran into you Captain," Zoro said. "I ran out of money and didn't want to ask that witch for more."

Luffy snapped to attention. "What do you mean you have no money? I don't have anything to pay the bill with."

"How do you expect us to pay the bill?" Zoro demanded. His eye twitched when Luffy turned puppy eyes to Rachel and Missy. "Don't ask them to pay the bill idiot. We invited them to eat with us, we should be paying for them."

"What are we going to do Zoro?" Luffy whined. He was in the midst of a panic attack when a change purse was dropped into his hand. "Oh, nevermind." He took out the needed change, thinking that someone was being kind to him and paying for their meal. It never occured to him that someone might have dropped it in the midst of a fight that was taking place behind him. He dropped the purse back into the hand of the person that he thought paid. "Thanks for the meal," he cheered. The person in the dark cloak was too busy to notice what had happened at the table behind them.

Rachel and Missy followed Zoro and Luffy out of the building. "That was great!" Luffy cheered once outside. "Now where's the square." He took off running down the street before Zoro could stop him.

"That moron," Zoro growled out. "He's going to get lost again." He started to run down the street to try and find his captain. "I'll see the two of you later." When he turned the corner he went in the opposite direction as Luffy.

Rachel and Missy waved their hands absently as he disappeared. "There's not going to be a later right?" Rachel asked Missy.

"Not a chance in hell," Missy turned to head back to the dock. "Of course, if there is a later, I assume it will be much later."

"You thinking another two years?"

"One can only hope."

"So here's a question," Rachel made idle conversation. "Why are you so against interacting with the main people of this world?"

"Are you kidding me?" Missy stared at Rachel with wide eyes. "We have inside information. If we give too many details, hints or anything else it could change the course of everything. They wouldn't be the Straw Hats we know and love if we started changing how they go about doing things."

"Point to you," Rachel conceded. "Alright, I'll go get the runner and we'll make a hasty get away."

"Where is the runner anyway?"

"I don't really want to say."

"Rae," Missy's tone took on a threatening quality.

"You know that doesn't work on me, right? We're not really sisters and I never listened to my actual sister to begin with."

"We might not be sisters, but we are cousins as well as best friends. I believe that gives me a certain amount of authority."

"Not really."

"I'll call grandma."

"First off, do you even have her number? Second, what phone do you have that can make interdimensional calls? Third, I bet the bill is through the roof."

"Damn you." Rachel took off running before Missy could do anything else. Missy could only glare after her, but started to get the boat ready for launch.

Rachel was untying the runner when she heard voices. "Don't drop it Usopp," was heard by a male voice.

"Could I possibly run into anymore set backs?" Rachel asked herself. She then smacked her forehead. "Of course I probably just jinxed myself." Rachel studied the runner for a moment, deciding which would be the faster way to board it. Calmly and carefully lower herself or jump into the water and climb aboard? Out of the corner of her eye she could see two men carrying a large fish heading in her general direction. "Water it is," she spoke. Rachel jumped into the water, without her life jacket on yet. That was still sitting on the seat of the runner.

Rachel started to climb on the runner when she heard Zoro's voice talking to the people that she had just barely got away from. She was zipping on her life jacket when a female voice called out from the Going Merry. "Are you alright?"

Rachel closed her eyes, hoping that she hadn't been spotted. She looked up and there was Nami looking at her from the stern of the ship. Her question had drawn the attention of the men that were beginning to head off to look for Luffy. Zoro and Sanji looked just enough to see Rachel there.

"What are you doing there?" Zoro asked.

"You know her?" Nami interrupted. Zoro only nodded his head.

Rachel sighed and continued to get ready to leave. "I didn't want anyone messing with my mode of transportation so I had to dock it here. Now I'm just on my way to meet back up with my sister," she answered. "We've got to get going ourselves."

"How do you plan to go on that thing?" Usopp asked.

Rachel inserted the safety key and then smirked up at the two. "Very carefully," she cryptically answered. Rachel started the engine, stood slightly and gunned it. She went around the Going Merry and headed for the docks. She noted that it was also the same direction that Zoro needed to go to head back to town. She wasn't too surprised when she saw him and Sanji running after her in the rearview mirror.

Rachel was nearing the speed boat in a manner of seconds. She knew that Missy would be able to hear her approach. The high speed was anything but quiet. She wasn't too surprised when she heard the deeper motor of the speed boat revving up. Rachel veered off towards the open ocean, slowing slightly so that Missy could pass her and lead the way. Once the boat passed, Rachel was once again gunning the engine.

~A few minutes earlier with Missy. She was just pushing the boat away from the dock when she saw Usopp and Sanji carrying a fish in the direction Rachel ran off. "Well now I know where she docked," Missy hissed. "I'm going to have a few words with that girl." Missy started the engine, just in case she needed to move fast. She wasn't too surprised when she heard the high pitch whine of the runner's engine when it's being pushed. Missy eased the boat away from the dock. Once she was at a safe distance, she pushed on the throttle a little bit more to the max speed she would allow while towing the dingy.

She spotted Rachel veering away from town as well as slowing slighty. Missy didn't hesitate to pass her, she knew she could catch up. Using the map, Missy started heading towards Reverse Mountain. It was true they didn't have an actual guide to it, but she could remember enough from the show. She just hoped that not much was different from what they were going through now.

~Zoro and Sanji were running towards the town. They were on their way to find Luffy and get out of there quick. They were also watching Rachel on her little boat. Zoro wasn't too shocked when Missy's boat started moving in the same manner that Rachel's had. The two of them were gone before the two men were moving past buildings. "We need a boat like that," Sanji said. "It would make the trip a lot faster."

Zoro grunted as they ran deeper into the streets. His thoughts were now on the previous conversation with the two women. "I think that they built them," he muttered. "Luffy and I were talking with Rachel and Missy earlier. They said that they build useful tools and sell them to people."

"The two of you better not of insulted two beautiful women," Sanji threatened.

"Relax you crappy cook," Zoro said. "It's none of your business what exactly we did or didn't do."

"You damn moss-head," Sanji snapped. "You better pray that I don't hear about you mistreating any woman."

~Usopp's mouth was touching the deck of the Merry and his eyes were bugging out. Nami hit him upside the head to snap him out of it. "Worry about two strange boats later," she ordered. "We need to get the ship ready to sail. There's a bad storm coming and we need to get away from the dock."
