Chapter Twelve: Dressrosa

Rachel was in her room, getting ready to head to town. Missy had just announced that she spotted the island. Not knowing what they were going to face it was agreed that it would be better to be safe rather than sorry. So the two women agreed to wear the clothes they had specially made. Rachel wore black, ankle high boots that hid her new knives quite nicely. She had on black slacks that were a little baggy at the ankle to better hide her knives. She had on a cornflower blue tank top. A holster for two of her handguns was placed on her shoulders. Over that a black coat that gleamed blue hid them. A black leather belt with blue gem studs was around her waist. Clipped to the belt was a small, square pouch that held a set of binoculars she and Missy had made. She had a large knife on the other side, the blade made out of sea prism stone. Rachel also took her hair out of it's customary up style. She let it fall down to her shoulders, putting some styling product in it to keep it from curling and fizzing out further than it already did naturally.

Once she was dressed, Rachel headed up to the bridge. "I'll take over docking," she said to Missy. "You go ahead and get ready yourself." Missy stood off to the side, hand still on the wheel. She only let go once she knew that Rachel had a good grip on it. She then disappeared below.

Rachel guided the ship to the harbor. The mast raised and sails lowered to give it the appearance of a normal ship. Rachel cut the engine once they were close enough to just drift in. Ace, in his own disguise, was on deck. Once they were close enough he tossed lines to the dock workers to tie it off. The ship came to a gentle stop. Ace made a show of 'raising' the sails when Rachel nodded to him that she was ready.

Ace was dressed in a red button up T-shirt that he left open. On his head was a black hat that had a similar appearance to his favorite, only this one was more formal and didn't have a set of goggles or the neck strap. He also wore a pair of black jeans with his black boots. His belt was red, like his shirt. A black pack was on his back.

Missy came up to the deck just as Rachel left and locked the bridge. She was wearing a similar outfit to Rachel. She wore black pants and high heeled boots, about an inch higher than Rachel's. Her tank top was purple instead of blue. The jacket she wore had a purple shine to it in the right light. She also had a pair of binoculars on her belt, however it was more towards the back. On either of her hips sat her bladed fans, in a closed position. The tips gleamed the dark blue of a sea prism stone. Missy had taken the time to straighten the curls out of her hair, unlike Rachel who fully embraced the wild nature of their hair.

"So I've noticed we have a theme," Rachel joked. "We're all wearing black except for our shirts. You could almost say that we planned it."

"Go figure," Missy laughed slightly.

"No kidding," Ace held a smirk. "One would think that I actually like you two by dressing like you."

"Damn it," Missy muttered. She then leaned closer to Rachel. "He's catching up to us, you know that?"

"I know," Rachel nodded. "We need to get some better come backs."

The three then left the ship. "We need to get things settled first," Missy started. She held a piece of paper. "It'll be more expensive, but we need to get some copper here. Thanks for that, Rae. We should also get some more food and other daily items."

"I need more gun powder," Rachel put in.

"You just bought some," Ace pointed out.

"Torpedos?" Rachel put a hand on her hip.

"You know," Ace shook his head. "For a couple of girls that don't want to associate with pirates you're sure heading in the right direction to becoming some. The Nunya is so well armed she could practically take out the entire Marine Corp."

"You're damn right she can," Rachel boasted. She was proud of the work that she poured into the ship. "I still have a few things I want to do though."

"Vetoed!" Missy shouted. "You're not doing anymore upgrades until we've completed ten orders for energy."

"Ah man."

"So here's what we'll do," Missy continued. "I'll go and buy the food stuff. Rachel, you go get the copper and powder since I know you're so finicky about it."

"Picky," Rachel corrected.

"Same thing."

"Not even close."

"Anyway," Missy looked to Ace. "Can you go with her and make sure that she doesn't get into any trouble? Also make sure that she doesn't mention those things that we shall not name."

"You're no fun," Rachel pouted.

"I'm on it," Ace agreed.

The three went to do their shopping. It didn't take Missy long to find the market that she was looking for. Rachel and Ace, however, had a hard time finding a place where they could get their hands on some gun powder. The did talk casually as they walked.

"We should be back at the Nunya before shit hits the fan," Rachel whispered. "I don't want to be in the middle of the chaos that's going to go down."

"You said that the people will start killing each other because of Doflamingo," Ace reminded. "You would really abandon them to that?"

"'Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil.' It's a saying from where I'm from. It means to keep yourself away from that which would be considered morally wrong. Do not see it, do not hear it means to stay removed from it. Do not speak it, well that's pretty much self explanatory."

"So you plan to pretend it's not happening? That's pretty cold, even for the two of you."

"We've already changed the history of this world by saving you," Rachel said. "We would do well not to risk too much more."

"I don't agree with that," Ace said. "You've already gone this far, why not just do what you want to?"

Rachel opened her mouth to speak when she was stopped by screaming. It was coming from down the street. A woman was looking at a man and pointing. "What's up with that?" Rachel asked. Then more screaming could be heard around them. Rachel and Ace looked at one another then around them. Rachel jumped to the side when a toy that had been next to her started acting strange. The next instant it was a human woman.

"I think we may be a bit late," Ace pointed out. "If you want to stay out of it we should head back to the Nunya, now!" He started running back the way they came.

"I ain't heard no fat crab sing," Rachel called to him as she too started running.

"Enough with the crabs, you're obsessed with crabs."

The two were nearly to the docks when the bird cage came down. "Well shit," Rachel cursed. She received a wide-eyed look from Ace. "What?"

"Did you just swear?"

Rachel gave a shrug, "It happens."

Ace turned back towards the city. "I guess we have no choice but to help the people. It might be better to split up."

"You trust me on my own?" Rachel smiled innocently.

"That all depends," Ace answered. "I trust you to not get killed. I also trust you to be able to help any people you come across. I don't trust you to stay out of trouble."

"What if I promise not to go looking for it?"

"It would still find you."

"True." Rachel put a hand on Ace's shoulder. "I'll leave you to find your brothers though."

"Don't you mean brother?" Rachel gave Ace a meaningful look and he paled. "You don't mean... Where?"

"I'm not sure exactly where at this point," Rachel said. "I do know he was fighting in the tournament before all hell broke loose. According to the information from my home world, that is." Ace took off in a random direction, leaving Rachel alone. She shrugged and started looking for her next victi...er next mission.

Sabo saved Rebecca from falling and getting hurt after he ate the devil fruit. He raised his hand to look at his new abilities. Instead of fire, like he expected, a gush of air rose around his fist. "That isn't right," he said. He was more confused than he had been in a long time.

Koala was soon at his side, giving her report. "When I saw the fruit that you were going to eat I thought it was strange," she added. "It had the color of the Flare-Flare Fruit. It also had similar swirls, but the shape was slightly off. I'll look into it when we have a bit more free time."

"You do that," Sabo agreed. "In the mean time." He punched downwards and a gush of air sped towards the ground. The power and speed with which it hit caused the ground under the ring to collapse and all the remaining contestants to fall underground.

Missy was on her way to the ship when the screaming started. She let out an annoyed sigh and found a place to hide her goods. She then started on her own mission to help the people of the city. It wasn't like she could ignore the situation now that she could hear and see it. It wasn't long before she spotted a familiar face. She tried to turn around, hoping that she wasn't spotted.

"SUPER seeing you here."

"Well crud," she cursed. Missy turned around with a smile. "Franky it's good to see you." She stopped and stared at him for a moment. 'Must pretend the look is surprising,' she thought. "Is that really you Franky?" she asked.

"That's right," Franky started to pose. "This is the SUPER ARMOURED ME!"

"Ain't that just peachy," she muttered.

"I could use your help," Franky came up. Without waiting for Missy to give her consent, Franky picked her up and sat her on his shoulder. He then started running through the streets again.

"Why me?" Missy asked the sky. They continued through the city, despite it shifting it's shape to protect the pink flamingo scum hiding in the palace.

Rachel was going around, cutting the strings of the people that were possessed by Doflamingo using her sea prism knife. She watched in horror as a man chased a boy inside a building. Rachel raced after, concerned that the boy wouldn't be able to escape from him on his own.

On the roof, the man had the boy cornered. Both had tears streaming down their faces as they cried. "Someone stop me," the man pleaded. "I don't want to hurt my son."

Hearing that, Rachel reacted as fast as she could. She swiped her blade just above the man's head. He dropped the weapon he was holding and fell to the floor. "It's alright now," Rachel said. She was looking at the small boy. "He's not going to try to hurt you like that again."

The boy ran to his father and the two embraced emotionally. Rachel turned away, not wanting to think about her own parents. Not being able to go back was too painful. It was easier not to think of the past. The two thanked Rachel and rushed down the stairs to the streets below.

"I wonder where the others are," Rachel mused. She went to the ledge, hoping that the height would give her a better view. As she was looking around the ground started to shake. The building she was on shifted. Rachel went to her knees to keep from falling over the side. It proved fruitless, once the building started to shift up on a hill. Rachel grabbed the ledge and held on. Once the shaking and shifting stopped, Rachel was hanging several hundred feet in the air.

A glance to the side showed Rachel what the cause was. Pica had emerged as a guard on the path to the palace. Rolling her eyes, Rachel felt now was an appropriate time if there ever was one. She cursed as she would when she said 'ah man', but instead she said, "Ah stone crab."
