Nunya Bizniz

Chapter Eighteen: Solar Power

Sanji had insisted that everyone eat over at the Sunny. After that days events, neither Rachel nor Missy really felt like cooking so they accepted. Although, they didn't exactly spread the news that they preferred their own cooking. Once that was done the crew of both ships started to either explore the Nunya with permission, in Luffy's case with escort *cough* Ace *cough*, or go about their own thing. Missy and Rachel were on the bridge.

"We only had a little bit of sunlight to recharge," Missy pointed out. She was tapping on the energy gage meter. "It should make it through tomorrow if all we're going to do is travel. I wouldn't recommend spending much more energy beyond that of cooking though. We'll have to explain that we'll need a day to recharge fully."

"At least we can travel tomorrow," Rachel sighed. "Dressrosa is still too close for me to relax completely. Though it sucks that we won't have anything to stay busy with tomorrow. I was kind of hoping to work in my shop."

"It can't really be helped," Missy shrugged. "We want to make it the whole day right? I'm sure once we've spent another day traveling the others won't mind that we let the batteries charge for a day. If no one else, I'm sure that Law will understand. He knows what it's like to have a ship that runs on Solar Power after all." After agreeing on telling the others in the morning that they'll need the following day to charge the two women retired to their rooms for the night.

Ace was showing everyone that was interested around the Nunya. He would explain the things they didn't understand the best he could. Though, some things he still didn't get. Missy and Rachel had tried to explain when he asked. Sometimes the information was too much and it went over his head. When the tour was over, Ace led Sabo and Hack to the Medical room. He apologized and said it was the only beds they had available besides the one cot. The accomodations didn't bother either male, they had been dealt with worse. Luffy had stayed, wanting to spend as much time with his brothers as possible. After a while, Nami had Zoro go and drag Luffy back to the Sunny. Once everyone was settled for the night, the noise died down and sleep passed through the two ships.

The morning found Rachel and Missy busy in the kitchen on Nunya. Ace, Sabo and Hack were sitting at the table. None of them noticed the visitor that they had. Luffy volunteered to get everyone when Sanji declared that breakfast was nearly done. Luffy started looking for the Nunya's crew on the bridge. He didn't get much further though. The buttons that he found there were much more interesting.

"Luffy is taking a long time," Chopper pointed out.

Usopp let out a sigh as he stood. "I suppose it's up to me to go and let them know that breakfast is nearly ready," he said. "That and find out what kind of trouble our captain has gotten into." He stopped in mid-step when the sound of motors running from the Nunya drew everyones attention. "They're not going to leave, are they?"

"That doesn't sound like the main engine," Law observed. He was already heading out the door, followed by the others. When they emerged they saw that a mast was being raised in the middle of the deck. The sound of motors suddenly stopped when the mast was only half way up. Not another sound was heard.

In the Nunya's kitchen, the group was just getting ready to eat when the mast motors drew their attention. Rachel turned to look at Missy. "Is it malfunctioning?" she asked.

"It can't be," Missy responded. "I'm always running diagnostics and checks." The motors then stopped and the room went dark.

"This can't be good," Ace's voice was heard. The sound of footsteps moving away could be heard. The door to the kitchen opened, after a grunt and someone saying not to step on other peoples toes was heard. Ace's hand filled with fire, lighting the room. Only Hack, Sabo and himself were still in the room. "I suppose we should go and find out what happened," Ace stood.

Rachel and Missy felt their way to the deck. Once outside, the sight of the mast halfway raised was the first thing they noticed. As one, the two looked towards the bridge windows. Luffy was there with a look of awe on his face. "I'm going to kill him," Missy muttered.

"Get in line," Rachel hissed. She started cracking her knuckles together.

On the Sunny, Robin put a hand on her chin. "Oh my," she started to say. "It would appear that our captain is in trouble."

"So who wants to be the ones to save Luffy?" Usopp asked. He looked back towards Zoro and Sanji. The two of them gave him a look that spoke 'you're insane if you think we're going to stop two pissed off women'.

Ace choose that moment to get in between the two women and the bridge. He didn't know quite what happened yet, but his sisters looked like they were out for blood. Since he hadn't been called he assumed it wasn't another pirate ship or the navy. That only meant that it had to be someone from the Sunny. The only one that was stupid enough to mess around with the Nunya would be Luffy, according to Ace's reasoning.

"Move flameboy," Missy snapped. "I have a rubberband to destroy."

"Now hold on you two," Sabo spoke up. He was just as quick as Ace to figure out who they were going after. "Why don't you tell us what happened first?"

"Straw Hat drained the power," Rachel supplied. She pointed an accusing finger up towards the bridge. "We had enough energy to travel the whole day, but nothing else. Now he's up there, playing with buttons. He activated the motors to the mast, which drained the last of the energy that we had."

"If you had power for the whole day," Hack put in. "Then why would that little a thing drain it completely?"

"The motor for the mast is different than the motor for the propeller," Missy explained. "It's working against gravity for crying out loud. Not to mention the energy supply was initially built for the propeller. The mast was a modification we made when we realized we would be making frequent trips to Fishman Island. I hadn't gotten around to modifying the power cables to handle the energy surge since someone else keeps adding more guns."

"Don't blame this all on me," Rachel cut in. "You've had plenty of time to do that in between my modifications. You just spent all of your time reading your books."

"So what do we need to do?" Sabo asked.

"We have no choice now," Missy sighed. "With our reserves completely drained we need to take time to build more. Without energy, we're stuck here anyway. So we'll just have to raise the solar panels and start charging the main battery." No one noticed Zoro slip past and into the bridge of the Nunya.

"How long will that take?" Nami asked from Sunny.

"It'll take a whole day," Rachel answered. She closed her eyes, anticipating complaints from the news.

"You hear that everyone?" Usopp asked. He and Chopper grinned at each other. Together they cried out, "BREAK TIME!"

"Why are they not more upset by this?" Hack asked.

"We're a go with the flow kind of crew," Sanji answered. "We like to take things at our own pace. You need a day to charge your ship, that's fine with us. We'll just go and do our own things until you're ready to set sail again."

On the bridge, Zoro was tapping the hilt of his sword against Luffy's forehead. "So now they're stuck here until they get more power," he lectured. "Because you're too curious we can't move forward. Both Rachel and Missy are upset over it."

Luffy's shoulders slumped in defeat. "I didn't know that would happen," Luffy defended.

"Then you shouldn't have played with it," Zoro returned. "For all you know, you could have fired one of the guns we've seen them use. What would you have done if it hit the Sunny? You need to be more careful Luffy."

"Okay," Luffy looked up with a grin. "I'll go and apologize."

"What about the fact we're stuck here?" Zoro asked.

"It's not a problem," Luffy said. "It's my fault anyway, so I can't complain. But a day to do what ever we want sounds great." He then rushed out of the bridge.

Zoro shook his head and followed. "Baka, we always do whatever we want."

After Luffy apologized, along with receiving two new bumps on the head, Missy and Rachel proceeded to open the solar panels and get the charging process started. Once finished with her end, Rachel went to the mini generator and started that. It would keep power going to the fridge to keep their supplies fresh.

It was the middle of the day. Rachel and Missy were laying on the deck watching the clouds, bored out of their minds. Rachel suddenly sat up and looked at Missy. "I've finally figured out a plan," she grinned.

Missy sat up a little more slowly. A slow smirk spread across her face. "So you know how we're going to get revenge?"

Rachel gave a short nod. "It'll take both of us though." She stood up and headed below the deck. "We should talk where there's no prying ears." Missy was quick to follow, right down to the dock and next to LB.

On the Sunny, everyone was doing their own thing. Robin had engaged Ace in conversation over tea. "I have a question Ace," she started. "It's regarding those two boats that are in the dock of the Nunya. I believe that you called them BB and LB."

"What about them?" Ace asked.

"Well naturally they're not the typical kind of sea craft you find here," Robin started. "Right now, however, I'm more interested in their names. How in the world did they come to have such odd names? They're not even names really, just letters."

"It's been shortened," Ace informed. "Missy was sick of calling them speed boat and wave runner. She wanted them to have shorter names." Ace thought back on that day, not too long after he arrived from Marineford.

Rachel was giving Ace a tour of the Nunya. The last stop was the dock. Missy was tagging along out of boredom. "These two are our other modes of transportation," Rachel was saying. "The bigger one is called a speed boat. The little one is called a wave runner."

"That reminds me," Missy cut in. "It's been years since we got here. Calling them by what they are is getting a little old. We should give them names, like proper sea vessels. It was pointed out to us once before that a vessel with no name is bad luck."

Rachel stopped in her explanations and thought about it. "Oh, Jade!"

"Jade?" Missy asked. She squinted her eyes in thought. They widened once she finally made the connection. "What about the football with legs?"

"I had a nickname for her," Rachel said. "I think that it fits here, in both cases. You remember, I called her Lil Bit. That's what we'll call the runner from now on. Or LB for short. Since the speed boat is bigger, but not as big as Nunya we'll call it Big Bit, or BB for short."

"Calling it Big Bit implies it is as big as Nunya," Missy pointed out.

"Not at all," Rachel disagreed. "The 'Bit' kind of puts a cabash on the thought process of it being as big as Nunya."

Missy thought about it for a while. What Rachel said made sense. It was better then calling them speed boat and wave runner all the time at least. Missy nodded her head in agreement and that was that.

"It sounds like you have a lot of fond memories with your sisters," Robin smiled.

"It's never a dull moment," Ace laughed. "You can't let your guard down for an instant." He grew silent and started looking around. "Which brings me to the next observation. The two of them have been awfully quiet."

"Is that bad?" Robin asked.

"Only if you're the one on the receiving end."
