Chapter 19

The next day they all met up at the precinct and they were surprised to find Livie's mom and dad coming in together. "Uh oh Castle's coming to consult again" Esposito said from his desk "hey man" he greeted bumping fists with Rick who grinned "oh you can't have thought that I would really pass up on the opportunity to consult again did you" he asked "or spend more time with my daughter" he wrapped his arm around Livie who grinned happily stretching up to kiss him on the cheek "good to see you too daddy" she said and he grinned goofily.

"So do we have anything new" Hotch asked and Kate shrugged "couple of sightings, not much that holds up though" Hotch nodded "Emily and Rossi" he said "I want you to go talk to the family of the escaped prisoner Harold Wythe" he looked at Kate "do you want to send one of yours with them" he asked and Kate nodded "Ryan why don't you go with Emily and Rossi" she suggested and her detective nodded "JJ and Morgan you go interview Jon Marcus' family" Hotch said "Care to join us Detective Esposito" Morgan asked and he nodded leaping up from his seat, grabbing his shield and gun and the two groups headed towards the elevator.

Hotch looked at Livie and Reid "why don't you bring up a web conference with Garcia" he asked "see if she found anything" they both nodded and headed into the conference room. Hotch looked at Kate who was watching her daughter interacting with Reid with a small smile on her face. "She really loves him doesn't she" she mused. Hotch nodded "and he loves her" he said "she means everything to him" Kate smiled before she looked at him "how is she doing" she asked.

Hotch turned to look at her fully "she is doing great" he said softly "she is one of the best we have ever trained" Kate looked at him "really" she said "really" he confirmed "she thinks outside the box, she works well as a team and is great at getting into a criminal's mind" Kate smiled "she'll be great in the future" he promised "she is somewhat extraordinary" and Kate smiled before she looked at her daughter "yes she is" she murmured.

Livie popped her head back out "hey Garcia is ready" she said and Hotch nodded "come on" he said and Rick and Kate followed him into the conference room to see an image of a very bubbly looking young women "Garcia this is Rick and Kate Livie's parents" Hotch introduced and Garcia grinned "nice to meet you" she greeted "wish I could come join in I bet you have great stories about Livie's past"

Livie rolled her eyes "why is everyone desperate to hear embarrassing stories about me" she complained and Garcia smirked "because we all like a little dirt" she teased and Livie scowled.

"Did you find anything" Hotch asked and Garcia instantly "unfortunately Sir Hotch I got a while lot of nada when it came to Jeffery Danville, he has no family that would harbour him, they all left New York or denied being related him so I have nothing on where he might go"

"Do you have anything" Hotch asked "oh you doubt me my liege" Garcia asked "of course I found something I never come back empty handed. I found something on one of the other escaped prisoners Jon Marcus; he has a fiancée by the name of Tara Mycroft."

Kate frowned "she hardly visited him in prison" she said picking up a file "she did for the first few months and then a month ago she stopped visiting him and calling him. Uniforms questioned her and she told them she had called it off"

"Well I think she may have been lying as she did call him multiple times" Garcia said "I cross-checked every phone call I got and I noticed that twice a week on a Saturday and Wednesday at precisely 12am Marcus would get a call from someone all of whom are friends of Tara Mycroft. She hid her tracks by using her friend's phone numbers to hide the fact that she was calling"

"That certainly is suspicious" Kate said and Hotch nodded "how about we all take a drive over there" he said and they nodded heading down to the garage and slipping into their two cars. Livie rode with Hotch and Reid and continued to study Marcus' phone records with Reid as she did so "why are you riding with us instead of your parents" Hotch asked and she looked at him "what" she asked "we wouldn't be offended if you wanted to ride with them" he clarified and Livie smiled "my mom has had that car for longer than I can remember and the back seat has a really annoying bar that is in the wrong place and is really uncomfortable to sit on."

Hotch raised his eyebrows and Reid could tell he didn't believe her. He knew Livie was wary that her parents might guess her little secret before she was ready to tell them. "They are proud of you" he said and Livie smiled "I know" she said "I am proud to be their daughter, even though Rick isn't my real biological father I consider him my dad, he raised me, he took me in and cared for me after what happened to me when most people would have run for the hills when they saw a scared traumatised girl who freaked out if anyone ever touched her and had no memories of her life, I was terrified of my mom too. She was so patient with me most would have given up hope with how many times I fell back in my recovery. But no she stuck by me when I was terrified of her; I love them both and owe them so much. Everything I ever do I do to make them proud"

"Well you have succeeded" Hotch said looking in the back at her and Livie smiled at him as they pulled up outside Tara Mycroft's house after her mom and they all scrambled out "everyone wear vests" Hotch said and Livie pulled a face before covering it up and strapping on her vest trying to hide her discomfort.

Hotch eyed Rick as he pulled a vest out of Kate's car with 'Writer' written across it. "Don't ask" Kate and Livie said as Rick grinned cheekily before they all headed up to the front door and knocked.

It was a few seconds later when the door cracked opened and a young black haired girl poked her head around it eyed them cautiously. "Hi Tara Mycroft my name is Detective Kate Beckett NYPD" Kate introduced holding up her badge "this is Rick Castle a consultant and these are some FBI agents" Hotch nodded "Special Agent Aaron Hotchner, this is Agent Olivia Beckett and Doctor Spencer Reid" he said "what do you want" Tara asked abruptly "I answered the questions the other Officers asked me" "yes we have a few follow up questions that need answering" Kate said politely "it wont take long, may we come in."

"No" Tara said shortly "get a warrant, then I'll answer the questions." "Miss Mycroft we are trying to track down three dangerous criminals who have escaped from prison" Hotch said "refuse to help us and we can arrest you on the charges of hindering a police investigation and aiding a fugitive"

Tara's lip curled and she hesitated before she yanked the door open and marched down the hall. Kate looked at the others before she shrugged and moved slowly into the building closing the door behind them.

Tara marched into the sitting room and swung round to face them widening her stance defensively. "What do you want to know" she asked shortly "when was the last time you spoke to your fiancée Miss Mycroft" Hotch asked "the day I went and called off our engagement" she said "which is what I told your other officers" "now we know that isn't true" Hotch said and she narrowed her eyes at him. Hotch looked at Reid who opened the file and spread the call logs around on the coffee table. "These are Jon Marcus' phone logs" he said "all these highlighted ones are your phone calls" "those aren't in my name" Tara said "yes but they are all the names of your friends" Reid said "you used your friends phones to hide the fact that you were calling him, we have officers on their way to interview your friends and I am sure when we explain what obstruction of justice is to them I am sure they will be quite forthcoming with the information"

Tara had gone very still and her jaw was clenched "Miss Mycroft why did you feel the need to hide the fact that you were contacting your boyfriend" Kate asked watching her closely. At first Tara didn't speak, she just stared straight ahead until she suddenly blurted out "because he told me to." "Why" Kate asked "I didn't know at first, but I trusted him so I did as he asked" she said.

"Have you seen him since he escaped" Hotch asked "No" Tara said a little too quickly and they all shifted in their seats "are you sure" Hotch asked "yes" she said just as quickly and Livie frowned "is anyone else in the house" she asked and Tara glared at her "no I live alone" she said "not many people want to live with someone engaged to an alleged murderer" "alleged" Kate asked "you don't believe he did it" "no" she said defiantly.

Kate looked at her daughter and their eyes met before they both rose and peered around the corner trying to look for any sign of life around the house. "I think that is all for now" Kate said and Hotch nodded "thank you for your time Miss Mycroft" he said "and if you see your fiancée please call us immediately" he held out his card and Tara took it not looking impressed "whatever" she said "please leave."

Slowly they all walked out of the house hearing the door slam shut behind them. "Lying" Kate asked and Hotch nodded "lying" he agreed. "So where do you think he is" Rick asked and Livie looked around "did the officers check the garage" she asked and Kate shrugged "lets go check it ourselves" she said and slowly they made their way towards the garage. As they did so they heard the sound of an engine starting.

"Get back" Kate shouted and they all leapt out of the way as the door burst open and a motorbike came speeding out. Reid leapt clear against the wall with Livie pushing her back to try and protect her as everyone dodged the motor cycle before they all took off after it yanking out their guns as they fired at the tyres until eventually the bike spun sending the rider falling off of it

They all sprinted forward and as Marcus tried to run he was thrown to the floor by Kate as she rugby tackled him to the ground. Quickly she cuffed him and began to read out his rights "I'll go get Tara Mycroft" Hotch said and he headed back to the house. "Are you ok" Reid asked Livie urgently and she sighed and rolled her eyes in an exaggerated motion "I'm fine idiot" she said "quit worrying about me" she said.

"Oh he isn't the only one who worries about you" her mother said as she hauled Marcus to his feet "but he definitely worries out loud the most" Rick said and Livie rolled her eyes as Hotch came out with Tara Mycroft "lets get back to the precinct" he said and they headed back to their cars separating the prisoners between the two cars.

When they got back to the precinct they found Emily, Rossi and Ryan already back at the precinct and working in the conference room. "Hey I heard you caught yourself a fugitive" Emily said and Hotch nodded "one down two to go" he said.

"Yo" came a voice from behind and they turned to see JJ, Morgan and Esposito coming back into the precinct "we didn't get much from Harold Wythe's family unfortunately" Esposito said "but his father who doesn't really doesn't really seem proud of being the father at the moment said that there is a bar that his son liked to go to before he was arrested." "We went there and they said that they hadn't seen Wythe in years but they promised to call us if they did" Morgan chipped in grinning.

"Ok good work" Kate said "shall we get some lunch?" "Ooo I'll go" Esposito said "I'll help" Morgan said and after collecting some orders the two of them headed back out chattering away. JJ turned to look at the others "those two have really bonded" she said "they haven't stopped talking since we got in the car" everyone sniggered at that as they dropped into their seats.

They spent the rest of the day after lunch interviewing Marcus trying to ascertain if he knew anything about the other two escaped convicts and it transpired he didn't know much though he had some new information on Danville which they hoped would lead them to him.

As they had their coffee break Livie sat watching the two teams interact. It felt amazing to have her two families together as one. She loved seeing them all together, seeing them bonding together made her world feel complete. And to feel her baby growing inside her knowing that she was starting a family with the man that she loved with her family supporting her she knew that she wanted to do this with everyone she loved around her.

Her smile grew even more when Kaylee came bounding into the break room with a delighted grin on her face as she spotted the team again and she flung her arms around Livie excitedly. Behind her came Danny and Jake; Ryan and Esposito's kids and they both hugged Livie just as excitedly as Kaylee "Oh I have missed you two troublemakers" she gushed as she hugged them "it has been too long" they both laughed before greeting Reid who grinned at them.

It was about an hour later that they received a phone call from some officers saying that Harold Wythe had been caught trying to cross state lines and was being shipped back to Rikers as they spoke. "Well I guess that means we only have Jeffery Danville left to catch" Kate said "how about we call it a night since some of us have dinner plans" she grinned at her daughters who were sat side by side and they both grinned identical grins back.

"I agree lets call it a night" Hotch said and his team began to pack up "hey we have a reservation at eight at Maddison's restaurant" Kate said "she gave us special reservations" Livie grinned "definitely beneficial that your best friend owns a very fancy restaurant" she said and Kate nodded smiling.

"Come on Kaylee bear" Rick said tussling his little daughter's hair "lets go home so you can put something pretty on and brush that wild tangled hair" Kaylee pulled a face but hauled herself up and wrapped her arms around her sister's shoulders "see ya later Kaylee bear" Livie whispered kissing her sisters cheek before watching as she skipped out to her father. Livie smiled and rose to say goodbye to her mother who hugged her tightly "see you later Livie" she murmured and Livie smiled and the two of them parted and Kate smiled as she followed her husband and daughter out of the precinct. Ryan and Esposito left not long after with their sons leaving the BAU team to pack up themselves.

As they headed out of the precinct Livie caught hold of Reid's hand "you ok" she asked and he nodded "it is just that after we tell your parents… it is going to be suddenly so real" Livie grinned "indeed it is" she said as they headed up to the car after the others and hopped in as Rossi gunned the engine and they headed back to their hotel.

Once in the hotel room Livie headed into the bathroom to get herself ready whilst Reid readied himself in the main bedroom. As he did so he found himself staring out of the bedroom window staring at the passer bys. He saw a young couple walking down the street and in the young man's arms was a tiny child. A little boy of about eighteen months old who sat on his father's hip giggling happily. Reid smiled at the happily family imagining himself and Livie with a family like that some day. The thought of it sent shivers down his spine.

"Hey you ready" Livie asked and Reid turned to see her standing in the doorway to the bathroom wearing a loose fitting black dress. Her hair had been left down, curling round her shoulders framing her cheeks that glowed due to the pregnancy hormones.

"Yeah" he managed "you look great" he added. She smiled "yeah not much fits comfortably anymore" she said "but oh well" her eyes flicked over him "you look great too" she said reaching out to take his hand "don't worry it'll be fine" she promised and he nodded numbly.

"Come on lets go" she said "you got that star puzzle thing you won from Emily" she asked and he nodded patting his pocket containing the puzzle he intended to give to Kaylee.

Slowly they headed out of their room and headed down to the foyer where they found Emily, JJ and Morgan all having drinks.

"Hey have fun with the parents" Morgan called and Livie grinned "oh I am sure it will have interesting moments" she said and Emily and JJ bit their lips to hide grins. "What are you all doing tonight" Reid asked. "Well we are waiting for Rossi and Hotch to come down so that we can go get some food" Emily said "ah" Livie said "well enjoy yourselves and we will see you tomorrow"

"Good luck" Emily and JJ both chorused and Livie winked before she and Reid slipped out of the hotel to the parking lot.

It was raining outside so they dashed quickly to the car and Reid slid into the driving seat and pulled away.

"So do you know how you are planning to tell your parents" he asked as they joined the queue of traffic. Livie smirked "I was planning to let you tell them" she said and Reid froze "what" he squeaked and Livie laughed "I'm kidding" she reassured "um no I was just going to go with it" "ok" Reid said breathing a sigh of relief that he wouldn't have to tell them.

Livie sighed "I can't wait till they are born" she murmured running her hand over her small stomach "I know it is a long way off but I am sick of waiting already. I want to meet her"

Reid smiled "me too" he said "it certainly will be interesting" Livie laughed "and tiring" she pointed out "once baby is born I don't think we'll have a day off for about eighteen years" "mmmm sounds unmissable" he said.

Livie grinned as she looked over at him "you're gonna be a great dad you know" she said softly. He glanced sideways at her "you think so" he asked and she nodded "I know so" she confirmed "you'll be great, I can see you being such a great dad" he smiled awkwardly "but adults have trouble understanding me" he said "how will a kid cope."

Livie thought "I think that being a parent is going to change us both" she said eventually "I think we'll both adapt and learn as we go along, and you will be that kid's daddy; they'll understand you better than anyone I think, don't panic, and anyway with your help our kid will ace all their tests even if they aren't a genius"

Reid smiled "well I won't be able to do it without you" he said glancing at her as he stopped at a set of traffic lights. She grinned back at him and reached out to catch hold of one of his hands interlocking her fingers into his.

She looked into his eyes for a minute turning away from the window to face him before she whispered "well that is why we are going to do this together" she said and Reid nodded squeezing her hand as the lights changed and he moved off.

"Hey Spence" Livie whispered "Mmm" he said glancing sideways at her before screaming out "LIVIE" seconds before a car smashed into theirs.

Instantly they were sent spinning away as their tyres skidded on the wet tarmac. Reid found himself gripping Livie's hand tightly but then as their car smashed into something else he was thrown against the window and bright lights burst forth behind his eyelids and with the smell of burnt rubber in his nose and the sounds of horns blaring everything went black.
