Chapter Thirty-four: Planning
Rachel and Missy finished showing the mechanics of the Revolution how to build and install the energy and weapon systems in a little under a month. They spent the next few days watching over the mechanics shoulders to make sure that they didn't do anything to blow the island up. Zoro and Law were always hovering in the background. Only once did someone ask the two women for a date. Before anyone knew what happened the two men were in the hospital. One was covered in various cuts and bruises. The other had his arm severed and reattached to his head. The men that had once been looking at them in appreciation stopped after that. They were too terrified of sharing a similar fate.
Now that the Revolution was well on it's way to becoming a force to be reckoned with, by modern standards, Rachel and Missy could continue on their adventure with Luffy and the others. Two nights before they're scheduled to leave the two converged in Rachel's room on the Nunya. Making sure that no one was listening, the two started a meeting. "So we're going to do this?" Missy asked. "You do realize we'll be in deep water?"
"Water?" Rachel let out a laugh and stared at her. "I would have used a more explicit term for Law and Zoro getting pissed at us. Either way, I think that it needs to be done. The only problem is getting the Nunya when no one else is on board. The second problem is making sure to outrun Law and the sub."
"You're not worried about outrunning Luffy and the Sunny?"
"They have to rely on their sails and the speed of the wind," Rachel pointed out. "If we start off by sailing into the wind instead of with it then that will hamper their progress in following us. Sure they could use the paddle wheels, but they won't be anywhere near as fast as our propeller. On top of that, the Nunya cuts through the water with ease. Neither the sub nor Sunny have that advantage. Also, the Coup de Burst the Sunny has is kind of unreliable. They can only point and shoot. If the Nunya veers course then they have to turn around and try again. They can only do that so many times. My only concern is when they catch up," Rachel worried her lip then.
"I, personally, look forward to it." Missy was smiling as Rachel was giving her an incredulous look. "Think about it girl, our guys are going to be mad as hornets when we pull this off. Of course they're going to start yelling at us when we reunite."
"You're not giving me a good reason as to why you look forward to it."
"Think about the make-up," Missy grinned.
Rachel stared at Missy in silence, blinking every now and then. "MISSY!" Her sudden shout startled Missy from her daydream. "ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT YOU AND LAW HAVE...?"
"What? No, I'm just saying..."
"You're saying you're thinking about it, perv."
"You haven't?" Silence was Missy's only answer. "Hah! Don't go pointing fingers when you did the same."
"I didn't voice it," Rachel pointed out. "You're just sick."
"Pot calling the kettle black."
"Let's get back on topic here," Rachel cleared her throat. "We need to find a time when not only is the Nunya vacant of all except us, but when Law and Zoro aren't paying attention. It's true that they've relaxed a bit now that the men on this island pay more attention to Nami and Robin. We just need to find a way to convince them to let us out of their sight for a few minutes longer than normal. Getting Ace away is easy, he spends most of his time with Luffy and Sabo. The catch is getting everyone away for Nunya to build up speed for a get away. It would so help if we had fog cover."
"I think I've got it," Missy suddenly said. "When you're in your workroom doesn't Zoro usually go and train or something?" Rachel nodded to Missy's question. "I know his weights are still on the Sunny so he has to go there to train. When I hole up in my workroom Law reads in the medical room. If there isn't anything for him to read he has to go to the sub and get the things he needs. Both the Sunny and sub are on the other side of the dock. There's at least fifteen ships between us. We can start the Nunya without them knowing what we're up to. By the time they realize what's going on we'll be a good distance from the harbor."
"We need a better plan than that," Rachel said. "First off, Law can use his ability to instantly travel great distances. He could cover that distance really quick. The second problem is Sanji. He can use that technique of his and jump on air to catch up. That is, if we don't bribe him first."
"We need some decent material for that," Missy commented. "That or blackmail."
"I happen to have a picture with me that can seal the deal," Rachel grinned. She pulled out a picture of Nami sunbathing. She was laying on her stomach, letting her back tan. The most noticeable feature was that the strings of her bikini were untied. "I'm willing to bet Sanji would kill for this picture."
"Nami will kill you if she finds out you gave it to him," Missy added. "Also, why the hell do you have that type of picture?"
"She has to find out first," Rachel said. "Then she'll have to pry the information out of Sanji, if she doesn't kill him first. I happened to take this picture, foreseeing the possible need to get Sanji to do our every bidding."
"Good point," Missy agreed. "That takes care of the Sanji problem. We still need to figure out what to do with Law and his ability."
"Another easy one," Rachel waved dismissively. "The weakness of all devil fruit users is the sea or a sea prism stone. You just have to plant one of our stones in his pocket. Small enough not to make him feel weak. I'm thinking one of the bullets I use in my hand guns will work. Anything else might be too large and he'll notice the weakness. A small one and he could just chalk that up to fatigue."
"You're devious," Missy deadpanned. "You had that planned all along, didn't you?"
"I never come up with pranks on the fly," Rachel smiled. "You should know that a good prank takes time and consideration. I even have the full layout of this little excursion we'll be taking. It's going to be so worth it."
"Who do you have going to start the broadcast?" Missy asked.
"I got Bortolomeo to do that," Rachel grinned. "I explained to him what we plan to do and he's more than eager to help. He's excited to give them a little hell. Even if it's just a little prank."
"There's nothing 'little' about this," Missy argued. "We're sneaking into Marine Headquarters and into the Fleet Admirals office. This is not going to be a simple task."
"Details, who needs them?"
"We do at least this once."
"Anyway, Bortolomeo will hole up in the docking system tomorrow until he notices that we're leaving. Then he can move around more freely. Just as long as Law and Zoro don't think that he's alone with us on the ship. From there we'll make our move and head off to the Marine's new island HQ. These Revolution spies really do their homework."
"How did you get the location from them in the first place?"
"I gave them a discount."
"Should have known."
~Rachel and Missy were both in their respective workrooms. Missy was busy sorting out the things that she would need to bring with her on the sub. Rachel was busy working with her gun powders, creating more bullet shells. As the two expected Zoro had gone off to the Sunny to train. Although, he was probably wondering somewhere on the other side of the island by now. Law had gone to the medical room to read some of the books he had stashed there. When he got there, he found that they were gone. He went to Missy and asked about them. She told him she was sure that he had one of his crew come and get them when he didn't think that he would need them anymore. With a scowl Law started heading towards his sub.
When Law disembarked the Nunya Missy went to Rachel. "He's gone to the sub to get a few books," she announced.
Rachel looked up from the novel she was reading. "Then it's time for me to get some fresh air," she smiled. Both the women went topside. On the deck they separated, Rachel went to the dock lines and began to unhook the Nunya from the dock. Missy went to the bridge and waited for Rachel's signal. Once everything was ready and the two were sure that Law was a fair distance away Rachel waved to the bridge. Missy started the engine and put the ship in reverse. Once there was enough room, she turned the boat around and started forward.
Rachel kept an eye on the shore. When the call went out that their ship was leaving Law came running out of his sub. An evil smirk appeared as she watched through her binnoculars that he was trying to create his 'room' and failing. "Go faster girl!" she called out. "I think you're man is about to find out that he's been tricked." Without another notice, the Nunya sped up. The sound of yelling drew Rachel's attention. She looked for the source and found Zoro on the roof of the Headquarters. Of course they were too far away now for him to see it, but Rachel blew him a kiss. "I promise we'll be right back," she whispered.
Bortolomeo came out of his hiding place. "Are you sure it's okay to leave Luffy-senpai and the others like this?" he worriedly asked. He was chewing on the corner of his plum colored coat. "It almost feels like we're abandoning them."
"Sanji knows what we're doing," Rachel said. "Sort of. He'll tell the rest of the crew that we're not jumping ship, just running an errand. You don't need to worry so much."
"You said that you had an important role for me," Bortolomeo reminded. "Just what is it that you want me to do?"
"When the time is right I need you to put on a comedy act."
"What?"
