Hime: I do not own Merlin! Enjoy! :)
Gwen and Arthur turned to see Merlin there, leaning casually against the doorframe. Merlin's expression was unreadable.
"May I ask why is it the King and Queen had decided to grace me with their presence in my bedroom?" Merlin asked, trying to sound nonchalant.
It was obvious that Merlin was mocking politeness and was still very angry but before any of them could say anything, Merlin spoke again.
"Or is there something you need help with? I thought I was given the day off today? Or am I wrong?"
Gwen took a deep breath before speaking; George was right, the angry Merlin was very intimidating, "Arthur is here to apologize to you."
Merlin raised an eyebrow at her in response, "You know milady, your husband is not the only one that owes me an apology? But you as well?"
"Whatever for?"
"You picked up my drawing journal."
Gwen's eyes widened and Arthur finally spoke, "Just how long were you standing there?"
"Long enough" was the man's short reply.
A guilty expression came upon on Gwen's face then, "Merlin I am so sorry. I should never have touched your things especially when I was chiding Arthur about it yesterday when he told me about the locket."
Merlin opened his mouth to reply but Arthur interrupted.
"Merlin. I-" Arthur saw how Merlin was looking at him and he took a deep breath before continuing. "I am sorry, I am truly sorry for damaging your locket and I'll be really more than happy to pay for the repair. I-"
Arthur was cut off when Merlin raised his hand to quiet him.
"I've already fixed the locket."
Merlin reached into the slightly open neckline of the blue shirt he was wearing and pulled out the Lovelace necklace. Gwen and Arthur looked at it, astounded by it's shine. not a dent in sight!
"How-?"
"It's a trick taught within the family" Merlin answered as he hid the necklace again in his shirt.
"Merlin, we-"
Merlin shook his head, "Enough, I accept your apologies."
Gwen blinked her eyes in surprise, "Really?"
Merlin nodded, "Yes and I would very much appreciate it if your husband would return to me my journal."
It was only then did the couple realize that Arthur was still holding on to the journal. The blonde man looked sheepish as he returned the journal back to his manservant.
"Thank you Arthur"
Arthur looked up to see Merlin smiling like his usual self. It was the smallest of smiles but still a smile nonetheless and that was enough to put Arthur at ease. Gwen saw this as well and sighed with relief.
"So shall we go?"
The royal couple blinked, "Go?"
Merlin was shocked, "Don't tell me you forgot!"
"Forgot what?" Gwen asked.
"It's Lottie's birthday today!"
"Lottie?" Arthur looked absolutely clueless.
Gwen & Merlin resisted the urge to facepalm themselves, "Leon's daughter?"
Arthur's eyes widened, "We've arranged for a present to be made for her right?"
"Yes by me in fact. It's all gift-wrapped and ready."
Arthur breathed a sigh of relief, "Merlin I really am glad that you can sometimes prove to be a sufficient servant."
"Oh please, you wouldn't be alive today if it weren't for me you stupid Prat."
The banter between king and manservant started then, causing Gwen to smile.
Things were normal again.
Lottie squealed when she saw Merlin enter after the King and Queen, "Uncle Merlin!"
The little girl was about to run off and greet her uncle with a hug but her mother stopped her, "Charlotte! Greet the our King and Queen first!"
Lottie turned and pouted at her mother, causing her father, Leon to chuckle whereas his wife looked down at his daughter with a stern expression.
Gwen looked over at Leon's wife, Mirabella (Bella for short), to admire her beauty. For some reason, women of noble birth always were of great, astounding beauty.
Bella had long, sunrise-gold hair, carefully groomed and shining; her mane flowed down towards her shoulders to where it it ends, with perfectly cut tips. She had a soft-jaw line, a kind face and brilliant leaf-green eyes. When she smiled, you could see her shiny, halo-white teeth.
Bella had on this gorgeous full-length, midnight blue, velvet gown with metallic gold gimp trim details. The gown featured a velvet bodice which showed off the woman's curves nicely and an upper gather on the sleeves of the gown giving it a more feminine look. On her head, Bella wore a gold and blue twist rope circlet headband.
Gwen was glad Leon found himself a good, sweet wife instead of being arranged to marry some dreadful, snobby noble.
Gwen's husband, Arthur meanwhile was looking Lottie, Leon's daughter who had just turned two. She was an adorable little thing; no one could deny that, heck even Arthur had to admit to it.
Little Lottie was definitely her father's daughter, with her brown hair and blue-green eyes there was no mistaking it. But she did inherit her mother's looks, she had her mother's sweet features; the cute-button nose, full pink lips and small ears.
Lottie was currently wearing her medium-length, straight, leaf-brown hair down with several stands of her hair was tied in French braids. She wore this deep gold dress featuring ribbon-tied sleeves with ruffled cuffs, a wide ruffled hem and a sheer gold trimmed purple overskirt. The look was completed with a metallic gold belt around the waist. On her feet, were purple slippers.
She's going to grow up to be a beautiful child, Leon is going have a hard time with the suitors...
Arthur chuckled at the thought causing Gwaine to elbow him.
"Whatcha thinkin about there princess?"
"Nothing of importance to you."
Gwaine raised an eyebrow at him but Lottie caused him to change his focus.
Lottie drops a curtsy and says politely, "Thank you for coming your Majesties."
Gwen smiles, "You're very welcome sweetheart."
Arthur holds out the present, "It's rather big."
There was sparkles in her eyes as Lottie looks at the present, "Thank you."
Gwen nods as Leon takes the gift from her husband's hands to put it on the present table.
"So Merlin, what do you have for my daughter this time?" Bella asks as she picks up her daughter.
Percival blinked, surprised, "What did Melin give last time? Because I don't remember-"
"A bunny doll" Bella answered.
Gwaine smiled, "The one the little Missus plays with all the time?"
Leon nodded, "However, Lottie tore it in an accident and lost it a while ago."
The little girl nodded confirming it, a sad expression forming on her face.
Merlin laughed, "I remember when she came to my door, crying and asking for my forgiveness."
"It's not funny!" pouted the child.
"Oh it was"
Mordred smiled, "So Merlin, what are you giving her this time?"
Merlin grinned and went over to Bella who had Lottie cradled in her arms.
"Close your eyes."
Lottie pouted again at the man and shook her head.
"You won't get your present if you don't"
Lottie relented then and closed her eyes. Merlin reached into his jacket and held out the present.
"You can open your eyes now."
Lottie did as she was told and gasped.
IT WAS DOLL!
Lottie clapped her hands with glee and took the doll from Merlin, smiling widely.
"Her name is Emma."
Emma was an adorable and cute handmade, little doll. The doll had long, brown hair with a fringe and pigtails with red ribbons. Emma wore a lovely yellow short-sleeved dress that had a red rose pattern to it. A red ribbon was tied below the supposed bust of the doll and a lace pattern at the bottom of the doll's dress. Emma wore simple brown slippers on her feet.
Emma was made with a pearl white fabric and her eyes consisted two black beads. The doll's hair was made with light brown cotton yarn which could be easily combed. Lottie found that Emma's arms were button jointed meaning Emma's arms were movable.
"It's perfect! Thank you Uncle Merlin! It's the best present over!"
Lottie kissed him on the cheek causing Merlin to grin.
"You might change your mind after you've opened our present to you Lottie" Arthur puts in, not wanting to lose to his manservant.
Lottie turns and smiles at him, "We'll see then!"
Bella puts down her daughter and the little girl hurries over to the big box. She begins to tear off the wrapping paper. Bella shakes her head disapprovingly while her husband smiles, amused as their daughter opens the box.
Lottie gasps when she finally sees what's inside the box.
"It's-"
