Author's Notes
To JP-Rider, there had to be casualties in this war, a fight between the vigilantes and villains and this mysterious "Argus". More detail about them will come in the next few chapters, such as who they are and their endgame. As for your thought about Raven becoming "aggressive" to Animal Man in the shower, that won't be happening - I've roughly worked out the ending and that part won't be on there. Remember, this is a Rae/Ravager story.
To shadowyshadow, this part of the story will definitely have more violence and fighting than the first half - you'll get to see quite a bit of action in this chapter.
To minerbuilder12, this is a conspiracy, whatever is happening to the metahumans - just wait for the next few chapters and the conspiracy will build up even further.
Now, let's continue the story.
At the halls of Belle Reve wear the walls looked fainted because of the old paint, Ravager is seen painting the walls into a new color. She has five cans of paint around her; the color was grayish green. She scrolls the paint roller onto the wall of old beige color as she chews some tobacco she forcefully stole from one of the Flash's Rogues(Heat-Wave was his name). She has been in the painting job for months and she is getting good at it, honestly. She came in 2nd in the arts and crafts 5 years ago, beaten by Prism. Of course she kicked his ass after he gloats about it. Belle Reve never had arts and crafts after that incident.
Ravager has been thinking about her relationship with Raven over the past years since the demoness first came. She and her have so much in common that it felt like they're soul mates. Daughters of evil men, both outsiders of society and the law, but have different paths. Raven chose the side of good despite her demon heritage, as Rose Wilson followed her daddy's footstep and she ends up locked up with no chance of parole.
Still, despite all of that, she wish to be with Raven once she gets out in six years. Damn life sentence and damn her father. Raven was like her Thelma, and she was her Louise; one is the helpless, and the other her protector. Ravager scoffs as she finds this idea sounding more like a love novel. But Raven is hers and hers only, so she has to make sure that Raven...
Footsteps.
Ravager's senses started up as she sense footsteps coming. She knows that somebody is near and that somebody shouldn't be here. Wondering who could it be she reacted fast. She picks up her empty paint bucket as she held her paint roller in position. She has many thoughts on who could it be? She has a lot of enemies in this prison: Prism, Count Vertigo, Peek-A-Boo. Prism. Volcana, Firefly...Prism.
She hears the footsteps coming closer. It's coming in to the left side of the halls as she readies her paint bucket as she is prepared to hit her assailant. Paranoia starts to run through her as she hears the footsteps coming in closer in the darkest halls of the prison. Step by step, she heard, making her sweat drop. Whoever he or she was, Rose will get them first.
But as she readies to strike, her one eye saw one foot stepping into the shadows. The foot ends up belonging to a silhouette of a guard as he steps out of the shadows of the halls. He noticed Ravager holding the bucket of paint as he asked. "What are you doing, Rose?" his voice was familiar to Ravager as she recognize the guard as she calms down her paranoia.
"Just painting, Norman." Ravager answered as she keeps painting.
"Well, keep up the good work, Wilson." Norman replied as he notes how good Rose is at painting. If only they continued that arts and crafts program for the prisoners. "Man, they should change the bulbs on that section of the halls over there. Gotta use my night vision goggles to see."
"You know it, Norman. Makes it look more sinister than what the prison is already is." Ravager chuckled.
"Yeah, well better head to the break room." Norman respond as he whistles a tune as he passes by. Ravager can hear that he is far away so she continues to paint-
WHACK!
The silver haired girl falls onto the floor as she drops her paint roller. She was hit in the head with something blunt as standing over her was her assailant. The perpetrator bangs Ravager's head onto the floor as all the platinum haired girl falls into unconscious.
"You know, they should change the light bulb in this prison." Killer Frost said as she held a bottle of laundry detergent that is filed with rocks, which she used to knock Rose out as she gives a sinister smirk. "I guess that makes me the toughest chick in prison now, bitch. Rather, that makes your birdy bitch, my birdy bitch." she sneered as she turns around to run away to head back into the laundry room.
As she makes it there, she meets up with Rouge who is folding some uniforms. Rouge truthfully hated this job as she turns around to see Frost catching her breath. "So, did you do it?" Rouge asked as she cross her arms.
"Yep. Knocked her out like you said, Rouge." Killer Frost replied as she finds herself against the wall as Madame Rouge twist her arm.
"It's Madame Rouge to you, ice bitch. Remember that." Rouge snarled as takes pleasure to twist Frost's arm and hear her scream. "Now, we shall proceed to plan. Get the demon bitch and have her be our bitch for the rest of her miserable years." she said as she lets go of Frost's arm.
"Yes." Frost replied as she feels her arm swollen.
Back in Jump City, the Titans were continuing their investigation into who killed Lt. Jim Grant. Unfortunately, they were rather bereft of leads in this investigation, even with the Argus card they found. They still had no idea what Argus was, or what it meant, and who would put it on Grant's body after he died.
As a result, the Titans decided to take a little break from their investigation in order to get a new angle on the case, or possibly some clarity from a sudden realization. All they knew was that whoever killed Grant had been part of the conspiracy that killed countless others, such as Isabel Zavalos, Bushido, Pantha, Control Freak, Plastic Man, Atom, and more. Already too many of them had died, too many had paid the price for one group (or one person)'s ambition.
For their break, the Titans decided to go out for pizza, which remained a rather significant part of their diet.
Now in the T-Car, the four Titans were on their way to pick up a slice at their preferred table. In the car, Animal Man asked, "So, we've got a marksman, a knife expert, Harley Quinn, and others as part of this conspiracy. Who would they be working for?"
Nightwing replied, "That depends. First, we need to know who the hell they are. There are billions of people on Earth, and likely thousands that fit the potential descriptions. Realistically, we're no closer to finding them than when we started."
Starfire remarked, "Well, what about the pattern of killings? It seems much too random."
Cyborg added, "Yeah, Star's right. There is no pattern, stabbing, strangulation, shot, hung, poison, and going from villains to heroes and back to villains again. It just doesn't make any..."
Before Cyborg could continue, he quickly saw a bazooka heading towards the T-Car. Shifting the car into reverse, Cyborg tried to get the car away from the rocket, hoping to avoid any damage.
However, that proved too little, too late as the rocket struck just underneath the engine of the T-Car, flipping it backwards, spinning in the air before crashing on its roof.
Groaning in pain, the four Titans managed to get out of the wrecked T-Car, trying to locate who had sent a rocket their way, trying to kill them. Looking around the nearby vicinity for any trails of smoke from the rocket, they had no clue as to where the shooter could be. As they searched around, none of them saw an unknown figure lurking in a nearby window, aiming a sniper rifle at Nightwing's head.
Just as the figure pulled the trigger, sending a high-caliber round his way, Cyborg's enhanced hearing detected the shot and immediately placed himself in the line of fire as the bullet impacted on his back. He yelled, "Ambush! Get to cover."
Immediately, the four Titans rushed towards a nearby alley, trying to get out of the line of sight of whoever was trying to kill them. Cyborg was helpful in providing cover as his mechanical parts enabled him to take significant amounts of damage, though the impact of such a high-caliber round was definitely going to hurt in the morning.
Once the other Titans got into the alley, they looked to make sure that they were out of the sniper's line of sight. As they took a breath of relief, they knew they needed to get out of there. Animal Man inquired, "How are we getting out of here with at least two people trying to kill us?"
Cyborg added, "And not to mention, the T-Car's toast. I don't know how many more bullets I can afford to take, either."
Nightwing realized, "We need cover. I'll toss smoke and then we run. Ready?"
The other Titans nodded and Nightwing tossed a smoke bird-a-rang in the direction of the sniper, hoping to obscure his view long enough for the Titans to retreat and then regroup.
Once the smoke popped, the four ran to another alleyway, taking a corner to make sure their attacker couldn't see them.
However, this plan proved to be a massive fiasco as Nightwing received a flying kick to the head and fell onto the ground. As their leader got up, the Titans stared at their attacker.
The attacker looked to be a young female, perhaps a child. She was clad in entirely black, with her suit appearing to have been crudely stitched together as the seams were visible. The suit even covered her head, leaving only two eyeholes so she could see and one for her nose so she could breathe.
Animal Man turned into a leopard and charged towards the girl. Just as he got ready to bite, she grabbed one of his legs before sending an uppercut to his throat, sending him sliding towards a nearby bus station pole.
Shifting back to human form, Animal Man coughed as he nursed his swollen throat. That girl was far tougher than she looked.
Nightwing shouted, "Titans go!" and the other Titans quickly moved to engage their female attacker. Starfire threw a barrage of starbolts at her, most of which she managed to avoid. However, Star did manage to land a few hits on her. Unfortunately, she brushed them off as if they were nothing, not even flinching. The girl then launched herself in the air to latch onto Starfire's boot.
As the Tamaranean tried to shake her off, Cyborg aimed his sonic cannon to knock her down onto the ground. Taking note of the cannon aimed at her, the attacker leaped off of Starfire and onto Cyborg, climbing onto his back.
Staring at the half-robot's mechanics, she found herself without a single of clue of what everything meant. Confused from the machinery, Cyborg was able to grab her and throw her off onto the ground.
Quickly getting on her feet, the girl then noticed Nightwing heading her way and then slid right under him as she delivered a strike to the back of his knee, sending him kneeling on the ground.
Managing to recover from the sudden blow, Nightwing threw a bolo in order to ensnare her, but by the time the bolo went in the air, she already had a knife pulled out and cut through the rope like butter.
Keeping her knife out, she readied herself against the Titans leader, so Nightwing pulled out his combat batons and charged right at her, trying to knock the knife out of her hands.
However, she ducked one of the batons and thrust her knife into Nightwing, scratching his hip, causing him to scream in pain. This also left her wide open to be blasted away from the former Boy Wonder by Cyborg's sonic cannon.
Sheathing her knife, the girl pulled out several spent shells and sent them rolling towards Animal Man, who had just about recovered from his first impact. Upon noticing the shell casings headed his way, he morphed into a hummingbird and flew away as the shells detonated. The Titans had to admit, this girl was very crafty and very dangerous, perhaps more dangerous than Slade or Trigon.
Nightwing again lunged towards the girl, not holding back on account of her age (or size). Preparing a kick to her head, the girl delivered a kick of her own to the rear of his knee, causing quite a bit of pain and causing his kick attack to collapse.
That was definitely going to hurt in the morning and probably impede his ability for some time. Now, as he tried to figure out his next move, the girl punched him in the head, striking his nose and then repeated for several seconds, sending Nightwing bleeding and crashing down onto the ground.
With Nightwing temporarily down, the other Titans had to take their attacker down. Starfire launched another barrage of starbolts in an attempt to force her to yield, but she bore the brunt of the damage and didn't even slow down.
Realizing that her starbolts would have no effectiveness, she decided to go with her super-strength and pound her. Just as she prepared to strike, the girl swept to the side and grabbed the alien's ear before she could adjust her course. While this wasn't the most painful attack she could deliver, it was definitely tactical as she used this to slip behind the Tamaranean and take her as a hostage, pulling out her knife and pointing it at her throat.
It was pretty clear to Cyborg and Animal Man what she meant, even though she didn't say a word: Back off or she dies.
Animal Man asked Cyborg, "Duck and bait?"
Cyborg replied, "Yep." The duck and bait was a new move the changeling and the half-robot have been developing in the four years since Raven was arrested. However, while they had the basic concept down, they had never tested it in combat, especially in a situation like now.
But, then again, nobody would know their attack. Cyborg covertly pressed a button as he kept his sonic cannon trained on the girl holding Starfire as a hostage. As Cyborg kept the girl's eyes trained on him, Animal Man snuck behind her as a mosquito, intending to bite her, distracting her so Starfire could break free from her restraint.
Before the girl could even realize it, Animal Man bit her in the neck.
Unfortunately, she barely flinched at it, but it was enough for her senses to detect that the changeling was nearby and swung her knife towards him. Animal Man barely eluded the blade as it tried to slice him open.
This did, however, create an opening for Starfire to break free as she regrouped with Cyborg. Animal Man soon followed, and the three desperately tried to figure out their next strategy. Their opponent could take repeated hits from starbolts and barely feel anything, injuries that could compound and potentially kill a larger person. She was a knife wielder and an expert martial artist, and had excellent marksmanship. What could her weakness be?
Animal Man whispered to Cyborg, "She relies on her sight. We need to sneak attack. It's our only chance."
"Agreed."
With that, Cyborg opened fire with his sonic cannon, their only weapon to have some sort of impact on her. Animal Man ran over to Nightwing, who gave him a piece of cloth as he tried to stop the bleeding on his side.
The sonic cannon blasts forced her behind hard cover, which allowed them to buy some time for them to take their shot at stopping her.
Animal Man moved like a monkey, moving quickly and with agility in an attempt to sneak up behind her and blind her. As for their attacker, she stayed behind a big blue mailbox, opening it to see if she could find any improvised weapons.
Finding one, she tossed a small box at Cyborg, which bounced off of him and landed on the ground, revealing itself to be filled with lacy lingerie. Looking for another object, preferably a harder one, the girl was surprised by Animal Man jumping on her and tying the blindfold around her eyes.
While she was blind, she was able to promptly whack Animal Man off of her, sending him to the pavement.
Returning to human form, Animal Man retreated to Cyborg, Starfire, and Nightwing. The team's leader realized, "We're not going to win this. We need to fall back. We need to get back to the Tower."
The other Titans said as one, "Agreed."
Starfire grabbed Cyborg while Animal Man turned into a pterodactyl to carry Nightwing. As the girl removed the blindfold over her, Nightwing sent several piercing smoke grenades towards the attacker.
Once the girl stripped away the blindfold, she was met solely with smoke, unable to see the Titans. When she ran out of the smoke, all she saw was the empty street.
The Titans had escaped with their lives.
Now, she was going to go back to her master with a failure.
Meanwhile back in Belle Reve Raven was finishing her shift at the infirmary after fixing Ferret's long snout of a nose. She learned a few things about the patient she and Mustrave treated who was a Bang Baby from Dakota as he was sent here after he unintentionally killed Talon. She pitied him for it so she gives him her condolence since he'll be getting out in 3 more months, hoping to start a new life out of prison. Raven wondered where Ravager is as she usually meets up with her before recess, hope she's okay.
Unknown to the empath, she is being tailed by a French lunatic and ice partner.
"This is it, she's going all alone." Frost spoke as she looks at Raven's ass and wants to kick and fuck her hard.
"I shall go and put her back in the pecking order. You shall stand still until I give out my orders, iz that clear?" Madame Rouge asked the ice villainess.
"Yes, Madame Rouge." Frost agreed as they followed Raven silently.
It was recess time at Belle Reve as the prisoners were at the courtyard for some exercising. It was at the time the ice bitch and her mostly insane French cellmate slowly stalk one of the prisoners that they've set their sights on. Madame Rouge looks at the pale skinned girl with a sinister smile inside of her, she's been waiting for this for four years. She and Frost wanted to make Raven their bitch again since they couldn't due to Ravager. Now the tables have turn for their favor as Raven is seen meditating alone as the other prisoners just ignore the empath to not have their dicks bite off by Ravager.
Right now, Raven sat in her meditation position as she blocks out her mind from the world. Images of her memories with her friends as she can remembered. She misses Robin, Starfire, Beast Boy, and Cyborg, she also misses the other Titans like Aqualad, Bumble Bee, Speedy, Jericho, Kole, Herald, Jinx, Kid Flash, Argent, Melvin, Timmy, Teether, and Bobbi. Just thinking about them made Raven feel like she has lost her connections with them. She was a totally different person, being in this prison changed her.
As she meditates in a seemingly defensive position, Madae Rouge was ready to strike. The French freak sneaks up behind as she jumps on top of the empath. Raven fell down to the floor face first as Madame Rouge flips her over to face her ambusher.
"Long time no see." Madame Rouge chuckled evilly as the prisoners looked at the scene before them. "Where is your protector now, bitch?" Rouge then looks at Raven's face; it wasn't a look of panic, but more like what she usually expresses.
A deadpanned, no-nonsense expression. (If you want the optimal experience, play Bad Reputation's theme for the scene - JP's suggestion)
Raven didn't say anything as she kneed Rouge off of her as she quickly gets back up. Angry, Madame Rouge charges at her with a swinging fist. Raven blocks her fist with a cross guard defense as she lowered her opponent's fist down and use her free arm to gut Rouge in the stomach. Rouge backs away as she looks at the empath, thinking it's impossible for her to defend herself.
"You can't fight!" Rouge screams as she charge at her again. Raven kept her stance as she dodge Rouge's fist as she punches the woman's sides as Rouge kicks her using her own knee to the empath's stomach. Rouge seems to have the upper hand as she grabs Raven's arm and began twisting it as she grabs her collar and throws her to the ground. The prisoners looks at the fight with interest, hoping to see Rouge wins since she is the top assassin of the Brotherhood of Evil. Rouge steps towards the empath as she grabs her hair as she spoke. "Not so tough, aren't you?" she then is ready to punch her in the face, but to her surprise as well as the prisoners watching this, Raven caught her fist before it reaches to her face.
Before Rouge could comprehend what was going on, Raven grabs the arm that grabs her hair as she pushes herself to give Rouge a head butt. Rouge lets go as she backs away, she has never felt a head butt this hard. She looks at Raven who gives her the finger, which angers the French woman as she proceeds to charge at her. Rouge attempts to grabs her shoulder, but Raven blocks it as she blocks Rouge's punches. Rouge seems to got her in the upper hand at first, but then Raven decides to throw in some punches. The tide have turned in favor for Raven, as she kicks Rouge in the stomach. Rouge backs away as she tries to attack her, but then switch to defense as Raven throws her own punches towards her.
'Impossible! There's no way she could fight back, unless...!?' Rouge thought as she is punched in the face by Raven. The empath then did an uppercut as she strikes Rouge's chin. The madame stumbles back as she spits out three teethes from her mouth. She is then punched in the shoulder by Raven's knuckles as another punch is sent to Rouge's chest.
Watching the fight and Rouge losing, Killer Frost just stood there in shock. There was no way someone like Raven can fight like that. She then decides to join in as she brings Rouge away from Raven and decides to fight her.
"Go away! This is between me and her!" Rouge barks at her cellmate.
"She was my cellmate first, bitch! I should have first taste in her!" Frost shouts as she raise her fist towards the empath. Raven dodges it as she swings her leg to kicks Frost's stomach, which flips her down to the floor. Raven just looks at her with the same deadpan expression which pisses off the ice bitch. "Wipe that face off, bitch! YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAVE THAT FACE JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE RAVAGER'S BITCH YOU THINK YOU'RE FREE OF BEING THE PRISON BITCH!?" she didn't get a respond from the empath, as Killer Frost wish she has her prohibitor color off so she can freeze Raven to death from the inside out.
"So that's why you hit me?"
Frost froze as she, ironically, felt a chill running down to her spine when she heard the familiar voice behind her. She looks around as she thought 'No way! She can't be around here! I fucking took her down in a single hit!' she looks at Raven as she narrows her eyes, but then she finds her head wrapped around and is taken down to the floor. She got a glimpse of Madame Rouge, who was already down to the floor with a swollen lip and a bloody nose, twisted arm and her knee broken.
Frost is then bashed in the head by Ravager's fist, causing most of her teeth fall out, about six teethes broken. She is then dragged by the hair and is thrown on top of Rouge, as Ravager kicks then repeatedly as Raven joins in with her arms crossed, looking at them pitifully. She looks at them the same way she would look at Beast Boy when he does something stupid or ridiculous; it was a dry look.
As Ravager finished beating the gruesome twosome, she turns to Raven and ask. "Want a peace of them?"
Raven thought about it, but then she respond. "I got another way to beat them. Words."
"Go for it." Ravager replied as Raven looks at the two as Rouge and Frost looks up to the empath about to say something.
"Louise Lincoln, you are the most unoriginal villain in the world. You think you're special just because you have ice powers? So what, Mr. Freeze, Icicle and his son Icicle Jr, Captain Cold, and Minister Blizzard are ice villains. Plus that blue bathing suit you wear makes you look like a slut. If you have any guy to have sex with you, you know their penises will break off due to your extreme level of coldness in your body. You're a C-list villain who is just another villain who takes the mantle of Killer Frost after like, what two other Frost's? And you, Madame Rouge, or should I say Laura De Mille, you are the worst I've seen. You have an estrange daughter who hates your guts for joining the Brotherhood of Evil. You and your Brotherhood never win because you are all idiots for underestimating the Titans. You're not the only one who has elasticity for powers since Elongated Man, Rubberband Man, Plastic Man, and his son Offspring are better at elasticity. Plus you have a bad haircut and horrible uniform, what are from the 60's spy era? As for both of you who waisted your time plotting to make me your bitch again, wow you've waisted time on that. So to conclude with a final insult: both of you are worthless of my time, this is so…pointless." she said in the most rapid fire way that the prisoners are shocked at the jabs she just inflicted on the two villains who gave her a hard time in prison the most. All in one breath.
Getting up, Rouge and Frost were about to retort, but backs off when they saw Ravager's death glare. They retreat away from them as the prisoners laughed at the humiliated mad woman and her ice bitch.
"Well, that was unexpected." Ravager comments.
"I've been holding that in for four years since I've been here. Six more years and I'm out." Raven replied as she walks to her spot as Ravager follows. "So, wanna meditate during the rest of recess?"
"Sure, I'm game." Ravager replied as both get in their meditation position as they meditate for the rest of recess in peace. No one bothered them anymore as Raven went from prison bitch…
…to a prisoner of war.
After making it back to the Tower, the Titans went into the infirmary to check just how badly they had been injured by their attacker. Cyborg checked Nightwing first - he had several bruises on his back, inside of his leg, and side, as well as a stab wound on his hip. Making sure the injury was only superficial, Cyborg put a bandage over it to stop the bleeding. Then, came Animal Man, who had swelling over his throat and a number of scratches on his back. Starfire had a slight cut over her throat, but it would heal while as for Cyborg, his armor had quite a bit of damage from the repeated bullet impacts.
It'd take a few days of recovery for the Titans, but there shouldn't be any lasting effects. However, they still had bigger issues at hand. Their attacker knew how they moved and odds are she would attack again. However, there seemed something familiar about the girl's weaponry.
Cyborg took video footage of the fight and began to upload it to the main screen. Hopefully, something would strike them and they'd have their first definitive lead in some time. They figured the girl likely did not kill Lt. Grant as she wasn't big enough to strangle somebody, but she was definitely connected to whoever did.
Playing the footage from the time they saw her, they watched everything all over again, being reminded of their absolute failure at beating her. Well, absolute may have been a bit strong, it was still not a good day for the Titans.
As they went through the footage, Nightwing said, "Stop it" upon seeing a startling image. Cyborg paused it at the point where the girl first pulled out her knife. Cyborg zoomed in on the knife and asked, "You think that's the knife?"
Using his keen eyes to examine the distinct features of the knife, Animal Man realized, "Yeah, that's the knife that killed Isabel Zavalos and Bushido. Serrated knife."
Starfire added, "And the angle of the wounds on Zavalos would match a child stabbing her."
Nightwing disturbingly noted, "So, one of our killers...is a child? We definitely need to contact the Justice League about this."
Going to the main computer, Robin opened up a connection to the Watchtower to brief the League on their newest development.
Appearing on the screen was Captain Marvel, who greeted, "Hello, Titans! Why are you calling?"
Nightwing remarked, "Hello, Billy. Could you please put Bruce on? We may have an ID on one of the killers."
"Okay. I'll get him." The Titans watched as the Mightiest Mortal walked off the screen to get the Dark Knight and bring him to talk with the Titans.
After a moment, Batman appeared and began, "The list of dead just added a few names. Steel was found suffocated in Baltimore, Catman was shot while on safari in Tanzania, Toyman was blown up with one of his own toys just outside of Metropolis, and Black Lightning was electrocuted while on duty in Barcelona. Four more bodies within thirty-six hours. It's becoming way too much for us to handle."
"And we almost joined that list today. Somebody tried to kill us."
"Do you know who?"
Cyborg began, "We don't have a face, but from what we can tell, our attacker was a young girl, likely no older than thirteen, but that doesn't mean she wasn't dangerous. She could predict our attacks before we could throw them. She took a number of direct hits from Star's starbolts without flinching, and she can handle high-recoil weaponry. She sent a bazooka at us and fired a high-caliber sniper rifle as well. I'm sending the data now." With that, Cyborg uploaded the data from their fight up to the Watchtower for the Justice League to analyze.
"Captain Marvel told me you had an ID on one of the killers. How does this relate?"
Animal Man commented, "The girl used a knife, almost exactly the same as the one used for a number of the murders, including Isabel Zavalos, Kyd Wykkyd, and Bushido."
"This has definitely taken a turn for the worse. If she killed Zavalos, she would have had to been eight when that happened. Could somebody have been raising a child to become a killer?"
"Bruce, I have to admit that it's definitely possible. I just hope it isn't true."
Suddenly, a beeping came from the Argus card file they had. They had been running a decryption program to see just what Argus meant.
"So, did you find anything on Argus?"
Starfire explained, "Argus was a government program that was abandoned close to ten years ago due to lack of funding."
"So how do they factor into this?"
"They don't." The Boy Wonder continued, "The organization behind this isn't Argus. It's CADMUS."
"Cadmus Research Labs. If they're behind this, we need to act now. We'll start a search for Cadmus facilities and then you're going to have to find out just what they've been doing, hopefully before it's too late. If we get inside, we may have an idea of just who's pulling the strings, and how everything connects together."
"Got it, Bruce." With that, the connection between Titans Tower and the Justice League Watchtower was severed. Now, it was clear just what this had become - a fight for their own survival.
Changing the location to the snowy mountains of the Himalayas, where there's a facility up at the mountain top. It is evident that this facility was not supposed to be there as it is cloaked from the outside world to see.
Inside the facility is a dark room as a man in his early 40s with gray hair, a face that would make people mistake him for Harrison Ford, and wears a black suit as he makes a video contact. The man looks at the screen with a neutral expression as he is being scolded for his failures. At the screen there is no picture but an unknown symbol.
"Your operative failed the job, David." the figure berates as David narrows his eyes. "She was supposed to kill the Titans just as ordered, but instead she has failed to do so."
David defends. "She only failed because she was outnumbered. But she has received the necessary intelligence on each of the Titans. We can use this in our advantage and if the timing is right, the next time the Titans would die."
"You better hope so, David. For both your sake and hers." the figure told as David signs off from the conference.
David sigh as he walks out of the room as he heads down to the hall. He steps down the halls as he picks out a cigarette and lit it up, he was tired from this ordeal. For the past four years he's been sending his operative to do some assassination jobs. It's sickening that he has to send her out to do the killings at a young age, but it's for the better.
He then stops by the room as he looks at his operative. She was resting on the mat in her futon as she held her sword near her. David looks at her with a grim expression, he has trained her from a young age and already she's about as good as the first Tigress, for a young girl going through puberty.
The black haired girl suddenly woke up after smelling cigarettes. She yawn as she gets up and notice David standing by the door looking at her. She gave a blank look like usual as she sees the man before her stopped smoking.
"You're wide awake, aren't you?" David asked as the girl nodded. He knew she couldn't speak anything since she is mute due to something traumatic in her life he dare not mentioned.
It was mostly his fault anyway.
"Alright, now get dressed up and bring your weapons with you." he told her. "It's time to come for your next assignment... Cassandra."
Okay, our first major revelation. Expect more to come in the next four chapters as the truth behind the string of murders.
