Allen didn't expect to feel so...intimidated when standing on the front steps of the reputable academy.
Sure, he knew that the building was big, holding nearly 60,000 students at once, but he wasn't quite as ready as he thought to actually go there.
His hands shook as he opened the doors to the noisy building, smiling lightly to the people who spared him wayward glances.
He was totally going to get lost here. Probably more than once. He couldn't help but bemoan the thought.
He went into the nearest men's bathroom and pulled out his phone.
he and Lavi had been texting pretty often since the day before. Nothing too specific or special, just random thoughts one of them had and just had to tell the other. Allen saw it as the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
He clicked on his and Lavi's conversation, swiftly typing out what he wanted to say.

The response came quickly enough, much to his relief.

Allen couldn't help but think it amazing that he found and befriended the one person with the best sense of direction known to man.
"Do you really get lost that often?" Lavi was laughing as they exited the bathroom and into the crowded and chatter-filled hall.
Allen swatted his arm, "Shut up," he hissed.
"Abuse!" Lavi cried, gaining the attention from a few around.
Allen slapped a hand over his mouth, leaning in to whisper, "Nobody will find your body."
Lavi squealed, turning to point an accusing finger at Allen, "That, young man, was a threat. Gentlemen don't threaten young ladies." h flipped imaginary hair his shoulder sassily.
Allen quirked a row, holding in his laugh, "Oh, a lady now are we?"
"You know it!" Lavi responded, continuing to walk ahead of him. Though his walk was more of a strut at this point.
Allen jogs to catch up with him, laughing.
"Anyway," Lavi said, dropping his act, "Lenalee's waiting up in the cafeteria in the B block. Kanda and Alma you won't get to meet until lunch."
"What're they like?" Allen asked, clasping his hands behind his back.
Lavi hummed, a grin spreading across his lips, "Kanda's fun. Grouchy. But fun. Well, to mess with mostly. Alma's his kid brother. Don't mess with him or Kanda might actually kill you, he loves that guy to death. But Alma himself is generally very sweet. He can be mischevious at times, but it's not too bad. I think you'll like him."
Allen nodded, "I can't wait to meet them."
Lenalee was an absolute delight to meet.
The second they walked into her line of vision she jumped up, taking my hands into her smaller and much softer ones, "You must be Allen! Wow, Lavi said you were hot but he didn't tell me you were gorgeous!" She squealed.
If Allen weren't into guys, he would have been drooling over how pretty she was. She had long turquoise pigtails with soft-looking bangs that framed her violet eyes. She for a black sweater that hugged her lithe frame beautifully, a matching black skirt that rested just above her knees with green leggings underneath, and pretty black heeled boots.
I rubbed the back of my hair sheepishly, send a side glance to Lavi who had, inevitably, formed a blush from his cheeks to the tips of his ears.
"It's good to finally meet you!" she continued, kindness exuding from her every pore.
Allen took her hand, bowing and pressing his lips to it, "The pleasure's all mine,"
She pressed her free hand to her cheek, "My, aren't you the charmer?"
Allen straightens, a breathy laugh escaping his lips.
"Hey," Lavi whined, pouting, "You never kissed my hand!"
Lavi stuck his hand out, his other hand resting on his cheek as he titled his head and fluttered his eyes.
Allen chuckled, bending down to kiss Lavi's hand and looking up at him through his dense eyelashes, "Better now, M'lady?"
Lavi blushed, coughing into his free hand and looking snatched his hand back from the laughing Allen, "Not fair." he muttered.
Allen just laughed harder.
They all sat at one of the cafeteria tables as people around them got their breakfasts and sat down, chattering about this or that.
"So, Allen," Lenalee started, "Why'd you move here?"
Allen swallowed the half of Lavi's sandwich he'd stolen before answering, "My guardian, Cross Marian, wanted a change of scenery." Yeah, that was a nice way of putting it.
Lenalee blinked curiously, "You moved countries because he wanted a change of scenery?"
Allen nodded, "Yeah...I know it's ridiculous..."
"'S actually kinda cool if you think about it," Lavi piped in, his cheek stuffed with bread.
Allen sent him a flat stare, "Don't talk with your mouth open, Lavi."
Lavi sent him a sheepish grin before swallowing, an audible gulp coming from his throat, making Allen and LEnalee cringe.
"Gross..." Lenalee teased lightly.
Lavi shrugged with a proud smile.
The shrill sound of the bell cut through the noise in the cafeteria and the three of them stood.
"I'll see you guys at lunch," Lenalee said as they separated.
Lavi waved back, sticking his hands into his back and casually strolling down the halls.
"Shouldn't I be going to my class?" Allen asked in confusion.
"We are," Lavi said surely, not sparing a glance in his direction.
Allen quirked a brow, "And how would you know that?"
"I got your schedule switched to mine," Lavi said, obviously proud of his planning ahead.
"O-kay..." Allen mumbled deciding not to ask any more questions.
When lunch time came around, Lavi practically sipped out of their classroom.
"What's got you so cheery?" Allen asked, trying to keep pace with the jovial redhead.
"Kanda's gonna be so happy to meet a new friend~" Lavi sang, grinning.
'From what you told me about this Kanda guy, somehow I have a feeling he's not going to be as happy as you say he is..." Allen said hesitantly.
"Ye have little faith!" Lavi insisted, grabbing Allen's arm and pulling him along.
As they entered the cafeteria, Lavi dragged him to a table on the far west corner of the room.
Allen immediately noticed a familiar head of hair.
Alen pulled Lavi to a stop, pointing to the teen seated at the table with another teen and Lenalee.
"Who is that?" Allen asked the redhead, annoyance slipping into his tone.
"Him? That's Kanda!" He stopped to look at the whitette, "You know him already?"
"Something like that," Allen muttered under his breath as they finished making their way to the table.
The second he and the girly dude-Kanda-met eyes, he knew they were going to have problems. And oh, problems did they have.
"You," Kanda hissed, clenching his chopsticks.
Allen pursed his lips, his silver eyes narrowing in on the irritated teen.
"Girly-boy," he drawled, snickering as Kanda's knuckles turned white.
Kanda stood, slamming his hands on the table.
The teen-whom Allen assumed was this famed Alma- Stood with him, putting a hand on his arm, "Yuu! Calm down!" the teen said, his blue eyes looking worriedly between Kanda and Allen.
Kanda gently pushed his brother out of the way, stomping toward Allen and fisting his shirt much like he did the other night.
Allen could see Kanda's teeth gnashing together and just smiled up at him, not flinching when Kanda raised his arm to punch him, "I won't walk away this time, you little shit-"
"Woah, Woah, Woah! Kanda, buddy!" Lavy intervened, putting himself in between up and raising his hands to placate the irate teen.
"Move, Usagi, I'm gonna plow his bitch-ass face into the ground," the teen growled, trying to push past the redhead.
"I'm scared," Allen deadpanned, his arms crossed.
His words angered the dark-haired male further, almost pushing through now Alma and Lavi together.
"Allen," Lavi whined, looking back at him momentarily, "You're not helping!"
"Please calm down, Yuu?" Alma pleaded, giving his brother his best puppy dog face, "For me?"
Kanda obviously had a hard time saying no to his baby brother and conceded, sending one last glare over Lavi's shoulder before turning and sitting back in his seat with an unhappy grunt.
Alma sent a wary/apologetic look to Allen before retaking his seat and patting his brother on the shoulder, whispering calming words that brought a smirk to his face.
Lavi took Allen's arm, sitting him down and sitting across from him, "What was that about?" he asked, picking up his packed lunch.
"I met this asshole that day walking home from the supermarket," Allen muttered, smiling and wiggling his fingers at Kanda when the long-haired teen looked away from his brother to scowl.
"Wow," Lavi laughed, "What luck, right?"
"Mhm," Allen agreed, snatching one of Lavi's chips-much to the redhead's chagrin.
"Why didn't you bring your own food?" Lavi whined, shielding his food from wandering grabby-hands.
Allen shrugged, "Part of my training. Can't eat solid meals til after class."
"Not even breakfast?" Lavi asked incredulously.
"A small one. Protein. Other than that, the rest of my calories come later in the day." Allen said, mentally cringing at his diet. He'd never really liked it.
Lavi scrunched up his nose in distaste, "Ew."
Allen couldn't agree more.
And, if anyone asked, he did not think Lavi scrunching up his nose was the cutest thing he'd ever seen.
