Arthur cursed mentally. He had a massive headache after hearing Layla's report. Apparently, Morgana has already stolen pieces of a powerful magical artefact from the vaults of the 5 kingdoms. Once joined together, the Bloodstones which were what they were called will form one large ruby that would grant her fives times the amount of the magical power she already possesses.
There was no way anybody wanted that.
He lifts his head only to make eye contact with Layla who had also explained how she came to know this. Queen Greer sounded like a good person despite having a husband like Lot reminding Arthur to make a mental note to keep Gwen away from Essetir's ruler.
The blonde king irritably rubs at his temples, he also needed to tighten up security better. Not only because of this incident but because Layla had confessed to breaking into the vault to check if the vault still had its BloodStone and indeed it didn't.
Layla looked calm despite the entire situation. Why? Morgana was about to make all of Albion her rule if nobody stops her.
"Why didn't anyone wake me up?"
Everyone turns to see Merlin rushing in looking more dishevelled compared to usual.
"Arthur you prat! You-"
Merlin just stops the moment he sees Layla, his jaw literally drops. After a full minute of silence, Gwen made the introductions and Merlin awkwardly bowed in respect.
"Layla, will you accompany my men and I on this journey? You know more about this than I do."
"No"
Arthur frowned, turning to Merlin, "What is your problem?"
"With all due respect Arthur, she isn't your subject and we don't know much about her. How can we trust her?"
"I know her and I trust her."
Gwen nods her head in agreement, "I have met her before too and her child as well. I don't think Miss Layla here is a bad person."
Merlin was so confused, when in the hell did this ever happen?
"Your Highnesses, I have no ill will towards you or your kingdom. I have no reservations in accompanying you and your men on this journey to stop Morgana Pendragon from achieving her goal."
"Morgana?" Merlin repeated, alarmed.
Layla waves him off and spoke calmly, "Would you mind directing me to the Physician's Quarters? I wish to restock on my medicinal herbs before we leave."
Merlin wasted no time in taking the opportunity to speak to his wife in private, "I can take you. Follow me then."
Layla bows to Arthur and Gwen politely before leaving with Merlin who looked extremely agitated causing the Royal couple to look on in puzzlement.
What's with him?
In the Physician's Chambers
"I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU KEPT THIS FROM ME!"
"Keep your voice down!"
Merlin cursed, he lowered his voice as he spoke to his wife but obviously still very angry.
"This is too much and you know it! How could you not tell me any of this?!"
"I didn't want to stress you out! You've been different since Morgana reappeared, how could I possibly tell you about any of this?!"
"You are my wife! There is no excuse for not telling me something this important!"
"So you admit you've been different then? You didn't deny it." Layla answers hotly.
Merlin scowled and his wife returns the expression with the same intensity, neither backing down.
"Layla, you can't just do things or know things like this without telling me. We're in this together aren't we?"
The brunette frowns, noticing that his anger was still visible in his eyes.
"You won't talk to me about why you been acting so queer."
Merlin's demeanour lightened up, seeing his wife look so dejected and upset.
"It's just...Morgana is crafty and merciless. She may not win in the way she intends to but she wins one way or another. I hate her winning anything. I'm just more cautious and weary of my surroundings that's all."
Layla sighs deeply, crossing her arms, "Merlin, I am your wife. Your burdens are mine too. Surely, you could share your troubles with me, if not me then who else?"
The warlock felt his heart actually tighten in his chest at the sight of a tear on his wife's face. He immediately pulls her into him, kissing her hard on the mouth.
"Please don't cry my love. Please."
More tears flowed and Merlin hugged her tightly as she kissed him back hard.
"I'm sorry I kept the whole Arthur thing from you...I just..I wanted to milk the opportunity I have to get to know him you know?"
Merlin blinks, finally understanding his wife's actions.
"What a fool I've been, I should have guessed. It makes sense now why you kept it from me. You know I wouldn't like it but you couldn't help yourself because of the connection you have with Arthur."
"Yes"
Merlin kisses his wife affectionately on the forehead, "I forgive you."
"I forgive you too my love."
Merlin grins and kisses her making his wife giggle softly against his lips. When she breaks away from him smiling, Merlin undoes the knots of her jacket and stripped her off of it before she could protest properly.
"M-merlin...Arthur is waiting for us..."
"Don't speak another man's name in front of me Layla dear."
Before she could protest, Merlin picks his wife up and sets her down hard onto the worktable before stripping her forcefully waist down, eliciting loud moans from his beautiful wife as he leaned in to ravage in her. She was at his mercy.
One Hour Later
"Hurry up you two!" Arthur shouts from where he stood with Gwaine and Mordred on the Palace Square grounds.
Layla cringes as she quickens her pace to a jog together with Merlin. She was sore after what happened with her husband in the Physician's Chambers. Now, Arthur was yelling at her to hurry up.
Damn
"What took you two so long?"
"I couldn't find all the herbs she needed. They were herbs Gaius doesn't use that often because of its strong potency."
Layla somehow resisted the urge to look at her husband in surprise at how smoothly he blatantly lied to Arthur.
Arthur sighed, "Fine. Layla come with me, let's get you acquainted with your horse for this journey."
Merlin watches them go until he realises that Gwaine was giving him a questioning look and so he justs turns to him and shrugs casually in response causing his friend to frown. Mordred comes forward, curious as well why Merlin seemed so calm that Layla was in Camelot.
"Merlin, surely you-"
Mordred stops short the moment he touches Merlin's shoulder, his mind filling with images of Merlin and Layla.
Layla, throwing her head back in pleasure with her husband at her feet.
Merlin's hand yanking on Layla's brown hair.
Layla's long legs wrapped around Merlin's naked waist.
Merlin's squeezing his wife's ample bosom.
Mordred finally drew his hand back as if he had touched hot coal, his face as red as a tomato.
"How much did you see?"
Mordred cringed at the smooth and low tone Merlin spoke in.
For some reason, he had a feeling Merlin already knew exactly what he saw.
"I didn't mean to-"
"If you ever look at her in a way that I deem inappropriate, I will punish you Mordred. Are we clear?"
The former druid gulps and nods his head vigorously. Satisfied, Merlin heads onward to his horse. Mordred immediately turns to Gwaine.
"I am not saying anything. Forget it Gwaine."
The handsome knight pouts, unhappy.
What did Mordred see?
