"Miko?" He questioned, seeing her fists.

"I thought you weren't coming back," She murmured, looking away from him. "I thought maybe you gave up on helping me."

"I am not helping you," He responded, taking a step towards her. She looked up at him with sad eyes, ones that could rival the young kit's, and quickly continued his sentence. "I am helping us. And," He lifted his hand to touch her cheek, his pelt shifting on his shoulder. "This Sesshoumaru does not give up on what is his."

She smiled up at him, the sudden urge to hug him overwhelming.
