Hello! I'm really sorry for making you all wait. Hope you enjoy this chapter and the more that will come!
"Arthur please let me explain!"
The blonde stares dumbfounded, Layla's face was reminiscent of Nimueh's but the deep grey eyes were definitely his father's.
"Morgana how did you notice her eyes? She wore a hood!"
The ivory-skinned woman rubs her hands together, trying to keep warm as she answers, "When her magic hit me, I got a glimpse of her essence like what she looked like, her twins-"
The manservant frowns in confusion as he helps Morgana to her feet, "Twins? Layla and I don't have-"
Merlin turns immediately to his wife in realization and Layla flushes, trying not to giggle at her husband's face.
"Yes my love, I am carrying twins."
Merlin looked like he wanted to say something but Arthur beats him to it, "Just how old are you Layla? You look almost Mordred's age!"
The brunette witch sighs, moving to sit on the rock. Deciding it was best to take off her cloak before she speaks as the weather was getting more humid, she proceeded to strip off her outerwear however she was almost painfully oblivious that everyone was watching her to reveal the black bustier she had on underneath. Mordred felt his face redden immediately, noting that Layla had a much bigger buxom compared to Morgana whilst Gwaine studies curiously all the love bites that seemed to cover almost the entire flesh above the woman's bust-line with his incredulous gaze. Merlin, thanks to keen sense of awareness; notices the men shamelessly stare at his wife's ample cleavage which causes him to irritably take off his coat and make her wear the coat on backwards.
"Stop looking at her like that. She's pregnant with my children for crying out loud."
"Speaking of which should you be wearing something that tight in the state you're in?" Morgana asks curiously.
Layla shrugs nonchalantly, unperturbed, "Well, it's not really an issue. I'm not due to show yet anyways. I wore this because I felt paranoid that I would show early and my husband Merlin would send me home if he were to find out."
The warlocks scoffs, unimpressed, "I'll punish you later, I'll make you air out that bustier tonight. You can bet on that."
Almost immediately everyone else felt awkward because Merlin literally just subtly hinted that he will ravage in his wife. Layla coughs, slightly embarrassed but gets even more shy when her husband pulls her into his lap so that he sits on the rock instead.
The warlock brushes a lock of her hair behind her ear as he speak, looking at his wife carefully, "Arthur to answer your question, it's a long story. so I suggest Morgana changes into Layla's cloak so that she can warm up more after Mordred here starts the fire."
Arthur wants to protest but seeing the rarely irked expression on the man's face, he obliges silently. Not missing a beat, Gwaine heartily agrees and volunteers in helping Morgana to her feet and insisting he takes her somewhere more private to change. With no one objecting, he drags Morgana along causing the blonde king to sigh.
Troublesome...
Mordred made a camp fire and Arthur watches from afar to watch Merlin doting on his wife that was presently sitting in his lap. The prince's manservant was sitting cross-legged on the ground while his brunette wife sat in his lap comfortably. They talked in hushed voices to each other much to Arthur's chagrin.
"They're a beautiful couple are they not?" interrupts Mordred.
Arthur sighs, unable to disagree, "I have never seen Merlin look the way he does now."
"Merlin had to hide himself, hiding a part of him for his safety and for his family's sake."
"What's the story with this Nimueh person?" Gwaine asks, coming out of nowhere with a more refreshed looking Morgana by his side.
"Actually, from what I heard Nimueh was killed years ago."
Arthur turns sharply, curious on how his sister knew but turns when Layla finally speaks up.
"It's true. My mother died years ago."
Arthur meets eyes with her, frowning.
"You are my half sister am I right?"
"Yes. I was 20 years old when you first met my mother."
"That makes you the oldest." Morgana surmised, realizing that Uther had relations with Nimueh before he was involved with her own mother.
"Yes, that is correct."
Arthur tilts his head curiously at the stoic brunette, "Do you desire a claim to the royal throne?"
"Of course not, I have no interest in ruling Camelot."
"Did Uther know about you?" Mordred inquires before Arthur could think of another question to ask.
Layla rests her head on her husband's shoulder before replying.
"He knew. My mother said he gave me a few little things like a blanket, a little bell and a necklace. However after he banished my mother, my mother burned them all so I don't have anything of Uther's."
Morgana deadpans, intrigued, "Why did Uther banish your mother?"
Layla turns to Merlin and the warlock sighs heavily and confesses to another burden he had been hiding from Arthur. Once Arthur had finished hearing his friend recount what he did; lying to his master and friend that actually Morgause was telling the truth that Uther used magic to bring about Arthur's birth. Gwaine and Mordred held back the man before he could rush forward in attempt to strangle the warlock.
"HOW COULD YOU!"
"Quit it Arthur!"
Arthur growls, glaring at Morgana.
"Merlin had to make lots of sacrifices in order to save you and the kingdom! He has his reasons!"
Morgana was the last person he would expect to defend him and out of caution, he squeezes his wife's waist when Morgana suddenly approached him.
"When you and your wife lifted the spell, I realized what Morgause did with my body at that time. I don't blame you for doing what you did now that I understood it properly. It isn't something I could hold against you when you always did your best to be by my side and look out for me since that fire incident."
Layla turns to her husband to see him in shock, she smiles knowingly and kisses him tenderly on the cheek and hugs him tight, hoping to soothe him better.
"A-are you serious?"
"Yes."
Layla squeezes her husband's shoulder and Morgana smiles softly. Arthur watches, curious on what they were conversing about despite the looks Gwaine and Mordred were giving him.
"Layla, if that is the case, shouldn't you be looking much older than you actually do?"
A melancholic smile came upon the brunette's face, "Years ago, Morgause tried to kill me because she was jealous of my rank but my mother was able to curse me instead so that I would not die. "
"Grand Priestess right?' Gwaine recollected much to everyone's surprise.
"Right. By law, I have as close to as much authority as the Disir."
Now, this intrigued Arthur but before he could say anything, the brunette cuts him off, "No I cannot change the predictions that the Disir foretell because the predictions come from the Triple Goddess herself. I cannot do anything to try and change them. Once prophecies are foretold, they are expected to happen and attempting to alter them is ill-advisable."
Frustrated, he scowls but says nothing as Merlin recounts to everyone his love story; the time he found Layla as flower and somehow broke the spell to the time she told him she was pregnant with Mryddin.
Layla watches Arthur carefully who seemed to be in a better mood of sorts but tenses when he open his mouth, "Merlin, doesn't this mean you are my in-law now? Since Layla is in fact my sister?"
The warlock nods warily, wondering what will the blonde king say but is surprised when the smallest of smiles graces his handsome face, "I always did think of you a troublesome little brother."
Layla smiles knowingly and persistently insist her husband to approach his master, she watches the two embrace tightly but lets out a small squeal when she feel a slight discomfort in her stomach for some reason. She immediately puts her hand to her tummy, using her magic to see her twins.
They looked healthy...something tells me my girls are eager to come out.
She notices everyone staring including her husband but she waves them off, teling them she was fine but Morgana was reluctant to accept.
"Is the bustier giving you problems?"
"No it's not the bustier. My babies are just impatient."
"Ahhh, girls or boys?"
Layla winks without any verbal reply much to Morgana's amusement but finally noting the beads of sweat on the ivory skinned woman's forehead, the brunette frowns in concern, "How are you feeling?"
"To be honest, I feel a little weary."
Worried, Layla takes Morgana by the hand and uses her magic to diagnose her younger half-sister. She relays to her that she is fine but she will need to eat a proper meal and tomorrow, Layla will start her on some herbal medicine to soothe her nerves better. A wolf howls in the distance gauging Arthur to remember dinner and announces it's time to catch food but Merlin had other plans.
He walks over and picks up his wife bridal-style much to her embarrassment, "Mordred, you will cook tonight."
"Alright but where are you going?"
"My wife will be serving me tonight. I am absolutely famished and I am in need of indulging myself in the pleasures of her flesh."
Gwaine let out a whistle as Merlin smirked triumphantly with a tomato-red wife in his arms as he walked away.
"I pray that I don't hear them" muttered Arthur and Morgana, hoping they don't hear a peep of their older half-sister having intimate relations with their friend.
