A.N. So yeah I have a long break till Tuesday so I will try to update some of my stories this vacation of sorts. Um it is Mia again and this is now the second chapter of the third book doesn't that just make you all so happy that I am getting so far in the story! Um what else can I say to waste time, I truly don't know but for those of you trick or treating this Halloween I wish you luck in the great tradition that is candy snatching.

Chapter 24

Soon after the girl and the ugly bear faced man left, Darren met us back in the tent that the four of us shared and found the Victoria was once again brushing my untamable long mud brown hair. Darren told us that he and Crepsley were leaving and that the three of us were welcome to come along with him.

Evra thought about it for awhile, Victoria immediately jumped at the opportunity to leave the cirque and made mention that Christmas was coming up soon, while I on the other hand remained in the corner thinking back to the night Sam died and I somewhat helped the Wolfman finish the little boy thus ending his life.

Even though that had been a few months since that incident Darren was just now finally beginning to talk to me, and I was unsure if Darren even wanted me to come along. Suddenly Victoria began jumping up and down all excited about the vacation and then began asking me if I would come along and that ended up helping Evra decide that he was going to come as well.

I slightly nodded and Victoria's happiness intensified Darren slightly smiled at the thought that he was not going to be alone during his time away from the cirque. Thus with that settled the four of us began packing the few belongings that we had.

Later after Mr. Crepsley came to get the four of us and we all said our good-byes but in my case simple head nods and waves would have to do. Evra asked Hans to watch over his snakes although considering the fact that they would start hibernating soon Hans would not have much to worry about, and with the good-byes out of the way the four of us set out on what would seem to be the strangest trip of my life.

The first thing we had to do before we left though was a way to cover up Evra's scales, covering his body was simple I could lend him some of the larger not as feminine sweatshirts that I had which I didn't have that many feminine sweatshirts to begin with because I was not that feminine a person to begin with.

The problem fell to the matter of covering up his face, for the time being I used one of the few larger pieces of fabric that I had as a make shift bandana and used that to cover most of his face and a hat to cover his hair and most of his other remaining scales

The train ride was the first Evra, Victoria, and I have ever taken, in a few words it was quiet strange to say the least, I kept finding myself gazing out the window watching as the scenery passed by much faster than it did when we were moving the cirque.

Victoria and Evra went exploring around the train soon finding the snack car and when they came back they came back with arms full of treats. The two of them gladly shared their treats with the rest of us. It took two days to finally get to where it was that we were going that of which I still had no idea.

The nice large city one of which that was much larger than of the small towns that we have been to when traveling with the cirque. Once we got within the city I could and began looking for a hotel I noticed that Darren was having a great deal of difficulty dealing with the new scents and sounds that came with the bigger cities.

Once we finally found a somewhat decent hotel Crepsley paid and the strange little group of ours began its accent to the room that Crepsley got for us, in this case a two room suite that the, one of the suites would belong to the daylight avoiding Mr. Crepsley while the other one would go to the four of us and we would have to fight over who would get the beds.

I for one knew that I would sleep on the floor seeing as how I was more comfortable on the ground, While Evra, Darren, and Victoria fought over who would get the smallish beds. Later it was decided that Victoria seeing as how she was still somewhat my little shadow would sleep on the floor with me and then Evra and Darren would get the beds.

A whole week passed and Darren had finally gotten used to the scents and sounds and was finally enjoying himself. After eating breakfast and getting Evra's scales all covered up the four of us would explore the town and then when night finally came Evra, Darren and, I would sit and play video games, which I seemed to have a knack for, while Victoria would sit and watch stuffing her face with potato chips which we all share and munched on.

Darren seemed to be enjoying this time away from the cirque and seeing as how it has only been a year since he joined, it must be such a joy to be back to normal life whatever that was. As we were watching another show on the television that I had yet to see the point of when once again just like all this week Mr. Crepsley left silently into the night.

The next day as we once again began enjoying the town Darren stopped and stared at large tree decorated with large bright bulbs and small twinkling lights. The sight to me was not that amazing but Darren as well and Victoria seemed transfixed in the bright lights amid the green pine needles. "It's almost Christmas." Darren said as we once again started walking.

Victoria once again began bouncing like she has been all week at the thought of this holiday which I had no understanding of the holiday. Evra started walking away, "Yeah and what's the big deal?" asked Evra as I finally caught up to him. Darren raced up to the two of us who in his eyes must seem like two aliens.

"Evra come on its Christmas, you should be more…" Evra stopped and I soon followed stopping a little later. "More what Darren?" asked Evra. At this point Darren went into a huge spew about what made Christmas so great, at this point I remembered when I stopped liking Christmas, it was truly because my brother who I could barely remember died or so said my father.

As Darren and Evra continued talking about the joys of the bores of Christmas I walked a little further away and bent down gathering up snow in my hands and then chucking it at the face of the boy who was annoying me, which at this point in time was Darren. The snow burst upon impact and hit Evra just a little as well, as Darren tried to recover from the surprise of the snow ball I put my hands down and began walking away pretending that I did not throw the snow ball.

Darren was far smarter to be fooled be that kind of trick so he packed a snow ball and threw it at the back of my head hitting it dead center. This small snow ball fight lasted for awhile but a little later Evra and the young Victoria began getting cold so we made our way back to the hotel. After a few minutes of sitting in silence watch the television once again, Victoria trying once again trying to brush my hair, Darren stood and began to get dressed for outside again Victoria stood and began getting dressed telling Darren that she was going with him.

Darren was about to tell her no but one look into her deep pleading blue eyes made him change his mind, Evra asked if Darren wanted us to come but Darren just replied that he would have enough company with his unwanted company, "I am not unwanted." Victoria pouted from next to Darren.

Evra and I sat on the two beds playing video games waiting for Darren to return, when he did return he seemed kinda freaked and it was Victoria who spilled the beans. "Darren's got a Date!" I dropped the controller I was holding in my hands as Evra paused the game, both of us string at Darren trying to find any hints that would make us believe that this was a joke.

When neither of us found a hint of a lie Evra began asking questions at a hundred miles per minute, while I being unable to talk just allowed Evra to ask the questions.

The night of Darren's date you could definitely tell that he had no idea what he was doing, and what amused me most was that he was going to Evra for help. I sat on Evra's bed watching cartoons with Victoria on my lap as Darren and Evra continued to talk in the bathroom.

"Darren is Debbie coming here before the movie?" Victoria asked from my lap. Darren's head peeked out from behind the door frame of the bathroom. I ignored them and acted as if the cartoon on the television was the most amazing thing in the world.

"Mia, you're a girl can you help me out with this?" Darren asked from the bathroom. The Question shocked me so I wrote a note on the worn notepad located at my side and showed it to Victoria who was now quite the little reader. "Mia what's to know with what?" Victoria said to Darren still seated on my lap.

"Well she can tell me what a girl is looking for from a boy on a date right?" Darren's reply came from the bathroom. I slapped my forehead, than wrote another note on the paper, showing it once again to Victoria who read it aloud for Darren. "Darren you have got to be kidding me you…" She paused and turned to me whispering in my ear. "Mia I can't say this word."

I shrugged and so she skipped it. "You ******* Idiot, I have been locked in a lab most of my life how would I know what you need for a date."

Darren's head shot out of the bathroom just as there was a knock at the door. Darren stepping out of the bathroom ran to answer it. Slowly he let the Debbie girl that Victoria has been telling me about in and I just sat still hoping that I would go unnoticed seeing as how Evra was now sitting on the bed next to me.

Debbie walked in and just as I thought her eyes instantly fell on Evra but then they trailed to me and I just sat helpless against her gaze. Darren, Debbie, Evra, and Victoria began talking for awhile and then Debbie brought her attention back to me.

"Well you are certainly one of few words." She said with a hint of humor, yet I knew she was not saying it to be mean. I simply shrugged and then Darren stood and told Debbie that if they didn't leave right now they would be late for the movie. Thus with that the two of them left and the three of us were left alone in the apartment.

A few minutes passed as Evra and I continued to watch cartoon's as Victoria finally finishing brushing my hair began braiding it instead, about half way through she fell asleep, then Evra and I changed the channel and just as Evra hit the News and was about to change it something caught my attention.

I snatched the remote out of Evra's hand and quickly changed it back to the news and what we found was about to turn this so called vacation into a nightmare.

A.N. So yeah I finished this chapter at 2:54 in the morning so I was up all night typing this for you people who refused to review last chapter even though not many people have seen the last chapter. Now if you will excuse me I am still wide awake and am listening to RPG horror game music till I fall asleep and trust me this is not the first time I pulled something like this, I did it at my grandmother's once and fell asleep around 5:00 so if this is exactly like that time I should fall asleep in like 2 hours or not at all it kind of depends. *Shruggs* well have fun doing whatever it is that you all do.
