A.N. So me and my twin put our heads together and finally figured out how to continue on with Dorene and Gavner so that is what is going on in this chapter you may review later and thank my Twin cause it was truly her idea so yeah. I will now take this time to apologize to the ONE PERSON who actually reviewed last chapter for making them feel bad. So now nooneneeds2know I apologize for making you feel bad it is just that I was kinda feeling down and garbage like when after three months of no reviews so yeah again it was unintentional, so now since no other reviews have been found I shall stop with this little apology and get to the chapter.
Disclaimer: Already know what goes here so pretend that I said I DO NOT OWN DSS/ CIRQUE DU FREAK!
Chapter 26
It has been a week since Gavner and I left Darren, Mr. Crepsley and the cirque and for once I was able to rest and sleep, that is until the cell phone I keep seeming to forget I had began ringing from my hotel room bed side table. Before answering I checked the time via the clock located next to the phone and saw that the day was well into noon, thus with that clarified I picked up the phone and answered sleepily.
"Yes who is this?" I was shocked when the shouted answer came.
"Dorene, where the hell are you, did you find the Cirque? I thought you said you had a lead on finding it yet you haven't contacted me in two weeks, what are you doing?!"
I had to hold the phone away from my ear as the boy I was supposed to be helping yelled out his questions, at this point though I was out of the bed and in the hallway seeing as how Gavner would still be asleep. "Steve there's no reason to yell I can hear you just fine without you blowing out my ear drums." I said quietly into the receiver of the small device.
The voice on the other end did nothing close to quieting down in fact I think he actually got louder. "Why should I listen to you when you can't do such a simple thing right!?" he yelled back at me.
"Steve I already found the Cirque." I said once Steve stopped his yelling long enough for me to get those few words in. At those few words Steve instantly shut up expecting more. "Well I found the Freak Show and along with that I found that they weren't there." I could hear the lie leaving my lips but that was all I could say because I wanted to hear Darren's side of the story before I took anyone's side.
Steve was silent for a while as he took in what I said hopefully not catching the lie that I laced into my words. "Okay, well I actually wanted to plan a meeting so if you can meet me at my house in two days we can talk later." He said quietly into the receiver as if someone might over hear his conversation. I agreed, hung up and closed the cell phone then made my way into the room to find to my surprise Gavner up and walking about the room.
"Gavner what are you doing up, I thought you would still be asleep this early in the day?" Granted for a normal person noon would be quite late to get up and start the day but seeing as how Gavner and I were forced to travel during the night I was shocked to see him up.
Gavner just now noticed me standing in front of the now closed door and began staring at me as if I was a stranger hiding something. "Dorene did you hear someone in here before?" he asked. It took a while to realize that he must've heard Steve yelling from when he first called.
"It was just the TV I turned it off when I stepped outside to get some fresh air." I stated then nearly kicked myself when I thought of how many times I was lying today. With that I changed the subject.
"Gavner I have something I need to take care of in another town." I stated as I began making the two of us breakfast. As we were ate breakfast Gavner began probing for answers.
"So what is it that you need to take care of?"
I continued eating completely ignoring the question.
"Does it have anything to do with when I first met you?" Gavner continued.
This time to avoid the question I took a long swig of the orange juice that I had conveniently sitting in front of me.
"Does it involve something from before you met me?"
I sighed and continued ignoring him.
Gavner sighed as well and then finished this conversation. "If you don't tell me what it is you need to take care of we won't go."
I jumped up from my seat and stared at the man I have now known for almost a year now and began throwing want most would call a tantrum.
"What? But you can't do that, I mean I have been traveling with you for almost a year now no questions asked about your motives and yet when I ask to go somewhere you instantly raise the red flag and start asking questions! I mean what does it matter that I need to meet with someone about something I know nothing about!? " I stopped too late to realize that I just revealed what it was that I needed to take care of.
Gavner leaned back in his chair with a smile of triumph spread wide across his face. "Now was that so hard to say?" Gavner said playfully as he continued eating now that he got the information that he was probing for in the first place.
I sat down and sulked for a little while, "Fine now you know why I want to go so, can we go now?" I asked.
Gavner thought about it for awhile than shook his head sadly. "Sorry Dorene, but I will have to say no," Just as I was about to put up a fight about it Gavner held up his hand to stop me. "Now I am only saying no because the sun is out but once it goes down than we can head out, okay?"
I nearly jumped over the table as I reached over to hug the man that has grown onto me and I am unsure that I couldn't live without him after these past few months spent together. After our little talk Gavner got up leaving the rest of his breakfast on the table and walked back into the other room where a separate bed was located and fell asleep until the oncoming night.
I on the other hand sat up staring out the window the rest of the day watching as the people went about their normal days yet not truly seeing them as the only thoughts that were dominating my mind were those involving what Steve might want to talk about.
The rest of the day passed like this until finally it was time to leave, I was already set and ready having packed during the day after lunch, and now I had to continue sitting and waiting for Gavner to finish his packing.
Outside I hopped up on his back and held on tight as he began to run and soon hit flitting speed. This was the one thing I was looking forward to when becoming a full vampire, the world passing by in a blur and getting where I needed to go quickly.
Gavner and I quickly made our way to the woods where we first met and then from there I lead him to the old theater that Steve first truly asked me for my help. Next thing I knew tears were coming out of my eyes and trailing down my cheeks as I thought about what truly brought me to this point.
The two of us were a day early so we could sit and relax till Steve came tomorrow, in the silence that followed Gavner began asking questions again. "Dorene who is it that we are meeting exactly?" I looked up at him trying to figure out whether it was a good idea to tell him the truth or some more lies, finally I just settled to parts of the truth.
"Before I met you I met this one boy who asked me for my help I agreed and he now probably wants to see how my end of the deal is going." Gavner starred at me in a quizzical kind of way when he asked. "Probably, so you're actually unsure of what he wants?" I simply nodded than explained that over the phone the person I was meeting didn't give me much information to begin with.
The silence continued and then I went into town to buy us some food, the only reason I had money is because during the day when I had nothing better to do but look out a window I would go into the random towns that the two of us stopped at and looked for odd jobs that people may need help with that they wouldn't need more than a day for.
I passed by the school and saw that everyone was outside playing soccer, basketball, or just hanging out and on the edge of the 'soccer field' I saw Steve starring at the field and those playing on it with a look of loss and rejection. I continued to watch until Steve and I met gazes and then I saw a creepy smirk play across his lips and then he began making his way over to where I stood on the other side of the fence.
"You're here a little early don't you think?" He asked once he reached me. I shrugged "Well you know wanted to make sure you didn't throw another tantrum." I said trying to get a little humor in conversation. Sadly all that happened was Steve's face turned into a deep scowl.
"I did not throw a tantrum." Steve nearly yelled then continued "So are we meting back at the Theater tomorrow right?" My mind thought of what would happen if Steve did meet Gavner and found out he was a Vampire so I thought of a different lace we could meet away from the theater when my eyes landed on a large tree located in the near the soccer field.
How about we meet by that large tree over there instead." I said while pointing to said tree. He turned located the tree than turned back to face me. "Fine but then we can meet after I'm at this dump." Steve said as he loosely gestured to the school building behind him.
I nodded than told him I would be there. With that the teacher yelled signaling the end of the outside time and everyone ran inside while I on the other hand had to run the other way and back to the theater to tell Gavner that the meeting was no longer tomorrow but instead was today.
At the theater I ran through it and up onto the stage, Gavner was sleeping where I left him but this was urgent so I began vigorously shaking him till his snoring ceased and he began grunting.
He sat up slowly rubbing his eyes and then looked at me in a confused way. Dorene what are you doing back so soon, and why did you wake me up?" Gavner asked as he began looking around for any signs of danger. When he saw no signs of danger he looked at me in his now familiar quizzical look.
"Gavner there isn't any danger it's just that Steve decided to change the meeting from tomorrow too today seeing as how I got here early." Gavner stood and began picking up his stuff until I placed my hand on his very large shoulder. "Gavner you don't need to worry because we aren't meeting here anymore I just wanted to tell you because I am unsure as of how long this is going to take."
Gavner nodded than sat back on the floor. "Thank you for telling me now I am going back to sleep so that if you finish talking to your boy friend we can leave right away." I Gaped at him than stuttered "H, he is NOT my Boyfriend!" I yelled at him making sure to emphasize the NOT. he laughed then began making himself comfortable on the floor once again.
Once Gavner was asleep again I left and made my way back to the school to get myself comfortable in the tree that Steve and I were meeting at.
It didn't take long for Steve to come and get me out of the tree that I had just gotten comfortable in and then the thing that Steve couldn't just tell me over the phone became clear. He held up some sort of poster and it took me a second to realize just what it was.
It was a simple white piece of paper that brought my worse fear to life; I grabbed it from his hand and began reading it hoping that it wasn't real. The paper read
MISSING
Dorene Sanchez if found please return to her waiting family.
She has dark brown hair and brown eyes; her skin is of a tan-ish color. She has been missing since last fall.
Underneath the description of myself was a picture of me at my last school picture day. I shook my head trying to get my head around what Steve was showing me. I looked at him and saw a smile plastered on his face.
"Where did you get this?" I asked as I starred at Steve.
You know I can't quite remember I just thought it would be good to have it in case you decided on trying to betray me like Darren." He said Darren's name with hate and also a hint of sadness but that was a very small amount of sadness. I swore under my breath.
"So you are going to turn me in if I decide to stop helping you is that it?" I asked trying to control my urge to punch him in the face. Steve simply nodded, which I was glad for because if he did decide to say something I would've hit him without holding back.
He gave me a look telling me to go and continue to go so instead of staying near this boy who held my life in his hands I nodded and then ran off to tell Gavner that we had to leave as soon as he woke up.
A.N. so yeah Dorene's past is trying to catch up to her and please don't forget to review and tell my twin thanks for this idea also to tell me who you want to hear from next cause than I will try my best to continue on that side of the story plus it will keep me typing instead of waiting a whole month before I even start. Also before I forget to ask but nooneneeds2know did you read the third chapter of A Forced Meeting?
