Chapter 45
*Darren's POV*
As we were heading in followed by Desmond; Mia practically seemed to be tripping over herself in order to get away. When we passed the living quarters she made a mad dash down the hallway, most likely to our room, and I didn't see her as we continued toward the Hall of Princes. As we passed vampires in the halls they noticed our short plump companion and joined behind us till all of Vampire Mountain was heading toward the same destination.
All the mountain was located in the hall and Desmond sat in one of the thrones at the front. He beamed brightly and fiddled with his heart shaped watching waiting for everyone to listen. Once he had everyone's attention he began discussing that of a destiny for three individuals.
Me, Mr. Crepsley, and a Mysterious third member who we wouldn't meet till our departure. Angry yells erupted within the hall as Desmond explained the details of the war and how only the three of us were allowed to defeat the vampire lord. With some persuasion, mainly that in the form of a threat, those gathered agreed and the discussion was done.
After a few more added items he discussed Mr. Tiny left and the hall was once again loud with discussion. Doreen and I exchanged glances then made our way out of the hall to pack.
*Mia's POV*
I didn't want to face him and so like a coward I ran from the man and the words that he would use. I didn't want to be called a monster again, I didn't want to be blamed. Darren however didn't know the reason I ran he just watched my retreating back.
I get up from where I sat and slowly made my way to the hall, unaware of who lurked just outside the room. Desmond smiled as I stepped out his grind practically wider then the Cheshire cats.
"Well if it isn't young Miss Shizuka packing already are you?" I gave him a confused look but he either didn't notice or just ignored it as he continued. "Oh you must be so excited of going back to the cirque, and back to your friends."
He stopped and his smile vanished, he stared at me and by the glint in his eye I knew that whatever he said next wouldn't be good.
"But your friend, Miss Victoria, is no longer at the cirque; she's long since left and hasn't returned last I checked." I didn't want to believe him but he wouldn't have told me if it weren't true or if it wouldn't have caused me as much pain as it did.
"However I have a proposition for you" He stated as he placed his fingers to his chin once again grinning with a smile that would've put the Cheshire cat to shame.
...
*Dorene's POV*
I follow behind Darren as we head to our rooms to pack our meager belongings before we leave at dusk. Darren stops in front of me and when I look his friend from the Cirque is standing in the hall, starring at the wall looking lost.
At this point I take in her actual appearance that she has had yet to switch out off. Her hair is once again long and flows down to her ankles and the clothes that once hung loose on her body were now snug against her well developed figure. She stood probably a head or two above Darren and me. Her eyes from what I could see were the same sea foam green and still as vibrant as ever.
"Mia?" Darren called to his friend as we got closer.
She didn't seem to hear as she continued to stare forward, Darren stopped when he stood next to her and lightly gripped her wrist.
"Mia, what's wrong?" This time she turned at the sound of his voice and gave a smile as if saying nothing was wrong; however, in her eyes I saw the traces of unshed tears.
She silently followed us into the room and watched as Darren packed away his things. I left for my room and did the same.
...
As we stood at the exit we were surrounded by vampires as they said farewell to their newest Princes and their only true hope of winning the war. Mia stood back from the crowd against the wall waiting for the rest of us to start heading out. In the end she opted to staying as her true age and switched out the clothes that had gotten tight with some from the piles found in the storage rooms.
She didn't meet anyone's eyes as she stared between the wall and ceiling. Just as we were leaving Seba called out from within the crowd.
"Darren, wait I wish to show you something."
Seba made is way to the front of the group and showed off a large spider, one much like the Ba' Halen spiders within the mountain, though far too colorful to be one. If anything the colors resembled those of Madam Octa. Seba cleared up the confusion by stating that it was one of many offspring of Madam Octa and one of the Ba ' Halen spiders, he then compared them to the vampires and vampaneze.
"If two completely different races, such as these spiders could find peace with each other, then perhaps the vampires and vampaneze should try to follow their example."
Darren smiled and with a few last and final goodbyes we were out.
...
The trip back didn't seem to take as long as the trip to the mountain as within a few days we had found ourselves back in streets of a town, making our way to a secluded place to set up camp for the night.
As we were seated around the fire that we had set up for the night I couldn't help but notice as Mia was again starring off in the distance, her mind somewhere else. I looked to the cell that Steve had given me, and that I had completely forgotten about while in the mountain. In a corner of the screen I notice that after six years of being off I finally saw signs that the device had signal.
I sighed, shut the device again, and placed it in my pocket. I began pushing the food on my plate as I was lost in my own thoughts. The rest of the night was for the most part silent, at one point Darren had asked about the person we were going to see, the one Desmond called Evanna, after that we let the fire die down and we all settled down for the night.
*Mia's POV*
My mind kept wandering to what Mr. Tiny said, would he really be able to accomplish something like that, or was he just pulling my leg? I didn't want to know because if I told her at the wrong time I had the chance of loosing her forever, and that is something I couldn't face.
I didn't sleep much that day and turned to my side, facing Darren's spot which was surprisingly empty. Slowly I got up from my spot and looked around our camp for him. In the end not finding anything in the clearing I decided to check by the small stream that was located nearby.
It didn't take long for me to reach it and instantly I noticed a hairy being staring into the water. Slowly I made my way up to them and stopped in my tracks when they turned. Familiar eyes stared at me through a curtain of dark brown hair.
The person must've seen my confusion as a familiar voice cleared it up.
"Mia it's me, Darren."
I took in his appearance, at a complete loss as to how he ended up this way, he looked back up the way to our camp then turned back to me.
"Mia I need you to get Mr. Crepsley. I don't know what's going on but if it is a vampire thing he will."
I nodded in understanding and made my way up the slope to Mr. Crepsley's side. I knelt down and began lightly shaking his shoulder till finally he opened his eyes. It took him a moment to realize who had been shaking him awake, but finally he sat up and stretched with a yawn.
"Mia what is it that you need?" He asked, I knew that I would have a hard time explaining so instead I grabbed ahold of his wrist and began pulling him behind me. Harkat woke up as we passed and followed us down to where Darren was waiting.
Mr. Crepsley at first didn't know what to think and Harkat though that I had simply led them to a stranger; however when Darren explained what had happened when he woke up Mr. Crepsley only sighed.
"The Purge, it came sooner then I thought."
Darren turned to the older vampire in shock. "Wait, what do you mean purge?"
Mr. Crepsley explained and already I knew that these next few weeks would drag on forever.
*Dorene's POV*
I. Watched as Darren raced ahead, Mr. Crepsley and Harkat ahead of Mia and I talking between eachother. I turned to Mia and again had to do a double take at her older appearance, sure nothing much had changed her eyes were still there soft sea foam green, and the markings still wrapped around her body, one difference was she had cut her hair again. It's been awhile since she kept her hair long though she didn't really seem to mind.
Darren raced back to where we were walking and then dropped to the ground proceeding with push-ups as we continued not worried in the slightest that he wouldn't catch up. Mr. Crepsley sighed.
"I never remember the purge being this long."
Mia lightly laughed as Darren raced back up to us and then passed us once again. I gave a slight smirk.
...
We were seated around a fire; well all but Darren who was switching between push-ups to jumping jacks. As he finally expended the last of the excess energy for the night he sat down next to us and frowned down at the meal, which to him would be tasteless. He dug in none the less and I smirked.
I looked and then noticed, the slight changes with Darren's appearance. Though understandably he was more muscled then before, something I had to stop myself from staring at for too long, but he was also taller and definitely older.
I finished my meal and after finishing and placing my plate to the ground I turned back to Darren a smirk on my face.
"When this is over we may need to find you a change of clothes."
A.N. Hehehe I left Mr. Tiny's proposition out so that you would be kept guessing, and for those reading Forced Meeting, I am sorry for the lack of update, it is just that I can't figure out how to continue so if push comes to shove I may start with the behind the scenes. Other then that I have no excuse for not updating this one sooner other then the fact that I am pestered by my sister to update other fanfics, one of which is my cross-over.
So yeah more reviews = more updates.
That is all.
Until Next time Peace, Love, and Virtual Hugs.
