Chapter 49
Blinx had insisted on going with the Zero's and Stork had been quick to suggest that another, fellow Storm Hawk should go with them as a guide. Aerrow had suggested him, much to the Merb's displeasure.
So they, Blinx and Stork, now sat behind allocated Blizzarians, Stork with Suzy Lu and Blinx with Digger, of course, they rode through the deserted tunnel streets of the Forbidden City with Suzy Lu and Stork at the head, guiding the rest.
Aerrow and the other Storm Hawks had separated to check the temple, while the rest were left to scour the streets for the elusive Oracle.
Blinx couldn't wait to find the phantom, maybe she could tell her what the tingling in her brain was. It was starting to hurt. She buried her face in Digger's back, biting back tears as the pain in her head worsened. She felt the ride slow to a stop, the revving of the other engines stopped further ahead.
"You okay?" Digger asked her. She shook her head, sniffling a little, her head remaining unmoved. Digger shifted so he could face her better and stared into her face.
"My head hurts" she whined, silently berating herself for sounding so childish.
"Everything alright back there?" she heard Suzy Lu yell.
"Yeah" Digger answered, cringing a little as Blinx whined in annoyance at his volume "You guys go on ahead, we're gonna head back. She's not lookin' too well"
"Uh, I wouldn't suggest that. You can't be sure what booby traps you might fall into" Stork yelled back to them. Digger was caught between a rock and a hard place. He wanted to help his friend, but Stork was right.
Blinx pulled herself closer to her furry friend, he pet her arm gently to let her know that he was still there. The rest of his squad rolled over to them
"What exactly is the problem, eh?" his leader asked. He tapped the side of his skull as an indication of something.
Stork flinched with paranoia "Mind Worms?!"
Digger deadpanned.
"Migraine" he returned simply.
Stork looked away nervously with a small 'Oh'
"It might be the sound of the engines" Suzy Lu provided "They're louder in here than they would be outside"
"You might be right. Blinx doesn't have a ride and, unlike us, she's not used to the sound of them" Stork stated logically.
Digger scoffed lightly "More than you think"
"Digger…shut it!"
He realised too late what Blinx meant. He hadn't said it in his mind and wasn't as quiet as he thought he'd been.
"What's that supposed to mean, eh?" Billy Rex questioned
"That's something I'd like to know" Suzy Lu said with authority, making her squadron member cringe away from her
"Blinx" Stork directed at her after a quiet moment "He doesn't know…does he?"
She stared timidly at the green Merb over Diggers shoulder, who now hid her protectively "Yeah…he kinda does…he already knew from Cyclonia"
