Chapter 36: Boat to Cinnabar!
The morning began as the trio each got ready and made their way to the lobby of the pokemon center.
For breakfast they got donuts to go because they needed to catch the boat in order to go to Cinnabar Island.
"Why does the boat have to leave at 8 in the morning?" Daisuke complained as he took a bite of a cherry donut.
"The boat only has one departure time" Green explained taking a bite out of a cake donut.
"I'll probably nap on the way" Kite said as he devoured his chocolate donut.
"You're not going to enjoy the beauty of the sea?" Green questioned.
"I'd rather sleep" Kite said with a straight face.
"But I might need your help…" Green said in a softer tone.
"With what?" Kite questioned.
"There is a certain water pokemon I want to catch" Green explained.
"Which one?" Daisuke chimed in.
"Lapras!" Green said excitedly
"Oh I see, that pokemon is rarer than most though" Kite said.
"That's why I want to watch the ocean" Green continued.
"So you want me to help watch for Lapras?" Kite questioned.
"Yes both of you" Green smiled as she looked over at Daisuke as well.
"I'm down, it will give me a chance to catch a water type possibly" Daisuke said pumped.
"But one more thing…" Green started.
"Yes?" Kite questioned.
"Can I use your Pikachu?" Green asked with a smile.
"Sure" Kite said as he called Pikachu out looking around curiously.
"Pikachu we are going to need your help" Kite said to his electric pokemon.
Pikachu smiled at his trainer and the trio along with Pikachu made it to the boat.
The side of the boat said S.S. Pyro, the group made it too the docking board and waited in line.
When they got to the podium, a man stood there in a sailor suit.
"Hello, I am first mate Hector" The man in the sailor suit said.
"This boat will be going to Cinnabar and will return to Fuchsia at around 10 at night" Hector explained.
"Also it cost to ride, unless you are a trainer and have required 6 badges" Hector continued.
Daisuke and Kite both showed Hector their badge cased each containing 6 badges.
"Alright you two can get in for free, how about you?" Hector said indicating Green.
"Well I don't go for badges" Green said a little upset.
"Do you have enough to buy a ticket Green?" Daisuke asked.
"My parents probably won't put money on my card until later today" Green said a little upset.
"Green? Is your older brother Blue by chance?" Hector questioned.
"Yes he is my big brother" Green said.
"I knew you looked like him" Hector said excited.
"Really?" Green questioned.
"When I look at you it reminds of Blue when he was your age" Hector said.
"You see, we met Blue whenever he was traveling as a pokemon trainer like you all" Hector started.
"He helped us beat some trainers trying to take over our boat and once he became Champion he has been very good to Kanto keeping it in balance and safe" Hector continued.
"He is a real good guy" Hector said with a smile.
Green nodded with a smile.
"You three can go on in" Hector said as the group walked on the deck of the boat.
A person who worked for the Captain led the group to a room where they could rest until they got their destination.
"It is a 2 hour ride to the Seafoam Islands where we will stop for a quick 30 minute break then another hour to get to Cinnabar Island" The worker explained.
"Thanks" the trio said in unison as the worker left their small room with two beds and a table with four chairs.
"Well this place isn't too bad" Daisuke said sitting in one of the chairs getting comfortable.
"Agreed I am going to nap" Kite said as he fell on the bed instantly going to sleep.
"Wow, well Pikachu I still need your help" Green said to the mouse pokemon.
Pikachu smiled back towards Green.
"Well Green let's go get that Lapras" Daisuke said with determination.
Daisuke, Green, and Pikachu walked out to the front deck and found a spot to fish off of.
"We need the proper tool in order to catch a strong pokemon like Lapras" Daisuke started.
"What tool would that be?" Green asked.
"This" Daisuke said as he pulled out a gold fishing rod.
"Isn't that the super rod Kite won from the fishing competition?" Green questioned.
"Yes, I took it out of Kite's bag" Daisuke said with a smile.
"Will he care?" Green asked a little worried.
"Kite? Nah" Daisuke said as he casted the golden rod into the ocean.
"Now we wait" Daisuke said as he held the rod patiently.
Just then the rod jerked down and indicating Daisuke had a bite, Daisuke reeled the rod and a goldfish looking pokemon landed on the dock.
"A Goldeen?" Daisuke said a little disappointed.
"It's cute! But not a Lapras" Green said trying to consolidate the water type pokemon.
Daisuke threw Goldeen back into the ocean and casted the golden rod again.
Daisuke instantly got a nibble reeling the rod quickly, a serpentine pokemon landed on the deck of the boat.
"A Dratini!" Daisuke shouted with excitement.
"A perfect chance, go Charmeleon" Daisuke shouted as Charmeleon appeared.
"Daisuke I thought fire types were weak against Dragon types?" Green asked confused.
"You are correct, but dragon types are strong and weak against other dragon types" Daisuke started as Green continued to look confuse.
"That includes dragon type moves as well" Daisuke smirked.
"And we got the perfect one, Charmeleon use dragon rage" Daisuke commanded, Charmeleon began charging a black and blue orb in his mouth.
Dratini began to charge a blue and black orb as well. Charmeleon shot a large blue and black dragon shaped beam towards the dragon type.
Dratini countered by shooting a large blue and black dragon shaped beam as well. The two dragon shaped beams collided causing an explosion in midair covering part of the front deck in smoke.
This began to attract the attention of the other passengers.
"Charmeleon keep going with metal claw" Daisuke quickly ordered, Charmeleon shot through the smoke toward Dratini while the lizard pokemon's claws turned into steel.
Charmeleon began to swipe at Dratini ferociously with his metal claws but the dragon type was easily avoiding each swipe.
"Damn Dratini is using agility" Daisuke said in dismay.
Dratini began to spin his tail rapidly creating a small twister, the dragon type flung the twister towards Charmeleon.
The twister shot very fast horizontally at the fire type pokemon, the twister struck Charmeleon in the chest and carried the lizard pokemon into the air. The twister then shot back towards the boat slamming Charmeleon into the deck.
"That Dratini is strong" Daisuke said getting even more excited.
Dratini used his tail as a spring and shot towards Charmeleon.
"It's using slam, use smokescreen" Daisuke commanded, Charmeleon shot black smoke covering the area and stopping Dratini in his tracks
"Charmeleon use metal claw" Daisuke ordered, there was a few seconds of silence before Dratini shouted in pain and flew out of the smoke with Charmeleon keeping at it.
Charmeleon continued to swipe Dratini with his metal claws.
"Now dragon rage" Daisuke commanded, Charmeleon shot the large blue and black dragon shaped beam close range at Dratini causing another explosion and the whole boat to rattle.
When the smoke cleared Dratini was dazed, "Now go pokeball!" Daisuke shouted throwing a pokeball at the dragon type.
The pokeball absorbed Dratini and began to shake and blink.
"Come on" Daisuke said anxiously as the pokeball continued to shake.
A few more anxious seconds passed by as the pokeball stopped indicating Dratini had been caught.
"Alright I got Dratini!" Daisuke shouted with excitement holding the poke ball high in the air, Charmeleon cheered for the successful capture as well.
"But didn't you want a water type?" Green questioned.
"This will be fine, I've always wanted a dragon type" Daisuke said with a smile.
"Well then it worked out" Green smiled.
"Now we need to get you a Lapras" Daisuke said recasting the super rod but go no bites.
Daisuke continued to cast getting only a few bites all goldeens or magikarps.
"Hey!" A strange teenager suddenly came running up to Daisuke and Green.
"Who are you?" Daisuke questioned towards the tan skinned boy, he wore blue jeans with black sneakers and a white t-shirt. He had dark wavy hair and brown eyes.
"The name is Andre nice to meet you" Andre said as he shook Daisuke's hand.
"The name is Daisuke and this is Green" Daisuke said introducing himself and Green.
"Nice to meet you" Green said with a smile.
Andre nodded and smiled towards Green, "So Daisuke I noticed that you just caught a Dratini! That's awesome, it can be very strong if you train him right" Andre said in an encouraging tone.
"Agreed, I think a dragon type would make a great addition to my team" Daisuke said stated.
"Also I overheard you two talking about a Lapras?" Andre questioned.
"Yes I want one!" Green said with excitement.
"I see, well I know a place where there could be a good chance that some Lapras will be there" Andre stated.
"Where?" Green said curiously.
"Are pit stop, the Seafoam Islands" Andre explained.
"Really? Lapras will be on this Island?" Green questioned.
"Surely, there have been reports of Lapras sightings in the Island caves" Andre continued.
"Caves?" Daisuke questioned.
"Yes the Seafoam Islands are two small twin Islands that are connected through and underground cave" Andre explained.
"Sounds interesting" Daisuke said.
"Yes the reports also say that the cave is icy and legend has it that a legendary pokemon is asleep in the lowest portion of the cave" Andre said with sparkle in his eyes.
"A legendary huh? Sound even more interesting" Daisuke said with an excited tone.
"ATTENTION PASSENGERS! We are fixing to approach the Seafoam Islands, prepare to land" the captain said over the intercom as the Islands could now be spotted from the front deck.
"Alright Green let's go get you a Lapras" Daisuke said in a pumped up tone.
