Chapter 59
Radarr whined sadly as Blinx got on the ride behind Digger. She sent him a little wave and a sad smile as her Canadian punched the vehicle into gear and took off into the sky.
Suzy Lu watched as the others of the squad followed until it was just her and Billy Rex standing in the hangar.
"She won't be able to stay with us, but we'll make sure to find her some place nice" she told the Storm Hawks.
Aerrow remained hidden away behind his team, choosing not to focus on what was happening, so Piper stepped up as acting leader.
"Thank you, Suzy Lu and thank you for coming when we called"
The squadron leader waved it off with a smile and replied lightly.
"It was nothing, us squadrons gotta stick together, eh?"
Suzy Lu and Billy Rex slid onto their Skimmers and with a final wave goodbye, were off into the skies.
It was uncomfortably quiet when the vehicle sounds finally vanished, until Junko questioned;
"Well, what do we do now?"
Stork whimpered and broke down into a case of uncontrollable and theatrical sobbing that no one could give a reason to.
"So, where are ya gonna go?" Digger asked her
He heard her breathe out and felt her shrug into his back.
It didn't matter where she went from here, but he knew she couldn't go it alone. If Cyclonis found her, she would be taken back to Cyclonia and, maybe, put in a cell for the rest of her days. But, if the Dark Ace found her, she would definitely be killed.
That settled it.
The decision was made, his mind made up. He was going with her.
She couldn't stay with the Zero's on Blizzaris, that was obvious, but she couldn't be alone, she wouldn't be able to defend herself.
She got lucky with the prison break and countless times after, but that's all it was.
He hadn't noticed her steady breathing and wondered when she'd fallen asleep. He also wondered when she'd become so accustomed to flying.
He gave a soft chuckle that faded quickly as he picked up the communicator, calling to his leader. This was the biggest and most serious decision he'd ever made.
"What's up D.D?"
He took a breath "I just thought I'd let you know…I quit the Zero's"
