"You did not need to scream."
She tucked her arms under some of the furs she lay on and buried her face back into the bed, muffling her voice. "I didn't scream."
"I beg to differ."
"I yelped. It's not the same thing."
Having have been shooed over a small distance from his previous position, Youko had the room to prop up the upper half of his body, his arm resting lazily against his knees. "It sounds the same."
"I was startled." She was still facing away from him, but the tone of her voice had changed, slowed down and rolled over each syllable as if something was hidden in them. The priestess turned around then, until she was peeking up at him from underneath her coverings. "Is this normal behaviour?"
"That unnatural noise you made? No, not at all."
She rolled her eyes at his grin and shook her head. "The cuddling Youko."
He decided he liked the way his name sounded coming from her lips, chastising and admonishing and also a small bit playful.
It matched her aura.
