He put down the fruit he was carrying, something large and overripe and positively delicious looking, and gave her the oddest expression – as if trying to discern the complexities of her knowledge without actually ever asking her.

He relented. "Do you not hide it on purpose?"

She turned her head up, admired the foliage, the blossoms of the trees, the magnificently open little plain they now found themselves in, anything but the accusing gaze on Youko's face. "Er…not exactly."

"Be more concise."

Kagome shrugged and slowly met his gaze. "I'm unfamiliar with the lingo."

At the long-suffering expression on the kitsune's face, Kagome giggled. "Sorry. I mean, I'm not certain how to explain it because I haven't learnt any of the theories behind it."

"Your teachers have been absent in their work little priestess." He said.

She laughed. "I think it's better to say my teachers have been absent, period."
