Chapter Twenty-Five: Conclusion At The Beach

Hau'oli City remained as sunny and tropical as ever. The warm climate, aqua skies and swaying oceans was inviting. The clouds were just as bright as the daring sun. The wave of laughter was so powerful it could be heard from all the way back in Pallet Town. Everything about that day was glorious and the weather was a delight for tourists and locals alike.

But despite it being an epic summer's day, May scratched her head as she rolled round in the sand. She watched her pokémon waltz around the beach. She laughed as Beautifly was playing hide and seek with Venusaur and Blastoise. Venusaur was trying to catch Beautifly with her vines whilst Blastoise was using his sheer strength to try and grab the butterfly with it's bare hands. He got Blaziken, Glaceon and Skitty soaked through the process. Blaziken went off in a huff. As a fire-type pokémon, it was natural for him to despise the water.

Something wasn't quite right. May took a deep breath and decided that nothing was right at all. After all that had happened yesterday, today was far too perfect. Queen Elodie tried to frame Mewtwo for destroying the pokémon centre. Queen Rayfa and Queen Elodie promised war and it almost destroyed both their kingdoms, but as soon as Ash and Hades met, the war ceased and everything returned to normal as if the whole thing had never happened.

The fortune teller from this morning had predicted that Ash would become an outrageous villain Ash laughed it off, not believing in magic. Even though Ash assured him that he would be fine, May could not help but worry about him all the time. She had given up all her dreams on the line just for his freedom. May believed in magic and she believed in miracles: she had witnessed them take place many times. She couldn't imagine Ash being a bad guy at all: his heart was too pure for that. He was a hero.

Ash was everything to her. They had so much in common and the five long years he was in prison was a life sentence for her too. She closed her eyes and thought about the good old days where she travelled with Ash, Brock and Max into the deep corners of Hoenn and Kanto.

There were times when she didn't want to be a lawyer any more She didn't want to be the famous ace attorney under the shadow of her famous boss and her talented biological mother. Every time she looked at the mirror all she could see was simply May Maple. She wanted to go back to the days where she was a pokémon coordinator. Things were simpler back then. She wanted to do the contests with Drew, Harley, Dawn and all the other pokémon coordinators out there.

But things can never go back to the way they were. She wasn't a child any more Sometimes she would forget that she was a grown woman now. She had given up everything she ever wanted in the pokémon world and joined the harsh world of law. All she wanted was to be in Ash's arms again, and now it had been several weeks since Ash had been cleared of all his charges. The sex was amazing, and so were the dates when they weren't interrupted with work calls and sudden explosions. She didn't understand why she still wasn't happy.

"What's wrong May?" Trucy asked. "You've been quiet all day."

May yawned and buried her head in the sand. "I just have a lot on my mind at the moment."

"Spill it out," Trucy advised her. "A problem shared is a problem halved"

"Don't you think that since coming to Alola that things have taken a really chaotic turn?"

"I know," Trucy said. "And just like that explosion, there were no casualties in this war either."

"I'm surprised it hasn't been in the news," May said to Trucy. She rolled over and sat herself back up. Her head tilted from side to side. Feeling dizzy, she threw herself back on the hot crumbling sand. "It just makes so sense at all. There's something really unnatural about all of this. There has to be something else involved."

"Whoever it is," Trucy said. "I don't think it can be human. It has to be somebody with a lot of magic and something with the power to control time."

May gasped as she sat back up again. "The power to control time? What makes you say that, Trucy?"

"I was messaging Apollo on Facebook, when I mentioned the Alola war, he had no idea what I was going on about."

"But he was with us for breakfast!"

"It's got to be Queen Elodie," Trucy admitted. "She tried to pit everybody against Queen Rayfa and Khura'in. She even destroyed a pokémon centre just to make everybody think it was Mewtwo."

"You're right." May gazed up at the sky as she a clouds shaped as stars. "Queen Elodie is a master of magic, she must be using her powers to try and control time. It all makes sense now! That's why the past few days have been so strange, Queen Elodie's meddling with time is what's caused all this chaos."

"Now...everything seems to be back to normal."

"I'm not quite sure about that," May said as her eyes wandered towards the sea. "After Mewtwo's trial, Ash has been acting really strange. After you left we went on a date and he was raving about a pokémon league tournament in hell. But what was even more weird was that he kept referring it as the Nether Regions."

"Oh no..."

"Do you know anything about it?"

"One of my uncles entered it...he never came back."

"Oh, I'm sorry..."

"It was as if he had been wiped of existence," Trucy explained. "For some reason I was the only one who mentioned him. Nobody remembered him. It was such a shame. He was a great guy."

"I think there must be a pokémon involved in this," May concluded. "Whatever pokémon it is, it has to be one with a lot of power."

"Like a legendary pokémon?"

May nodded. "Indeed. It has to be. I'm thinking it's a psychic type and somebody with the power to control time."

"What sort of pokémon are you thinking of?"

"I'm thinking Dialga and Celebi. Dialga is known to be able to control time and Celebi is famous for travelling time. Maybe Queen Elodie has captured both of them. Maybe she regrets her actions and decided to use her pokémon to make it right."

"It all makes sense," Trucy said. "We'll have to see what happens. I think you should keep a close eye on Ash. Guys like him are really reckless on his health."
