Waking from her stupor to find two shell-shocked youkai was not how Kagome planned to start her morning. But the eager joy on Youko's face assured her that nothing she had done had been wrong, and the fact that neither demon was trying to kill each other confirmed for her that peace had been sought and found.
Unfortunately, with her slow break out of the deep trance, the soothing feeling of the forest left her, as did –– according to Youko –– the immense magnitude of her aura.
"I do not understand why it recoils so."
They were both sitting before her now, cross-legged as she was, and staring at her so intently as to bring a blush to Kagome's face. She shrugged.
"Sorry."
"It noticed my youki before…and reacted to it. Now it just sinks back into you."
Kuronue narrowed his eyes at her. "It was rather magnificent. You know nothing of how it changes?"
"No," she admitted "but I've been told I'm pretty…unconventional, for a priestess."
Youko agreed. "A minor understatement."
