Long Live The King

"Don't you think that Ash is acting really strange lately?" Apollo asked. During Malfoy's trial, an incident had happened that made Apollo furious. His friend, Klavier Gavin had been attacked by a pokemon trainer with black hair. When May heard about it, she knew that Apollo would try to blame Ash for the attacks.

May jerked from her seat. "What do you mean by that?"

"He's hardly seen you this week," Trucy said as she was reading a book. She slammed the book on the table and marched over to May. "He's out all night and sleeps through the day."

May watched Apollo ponder round the room, rubbing his fingers against his forehead. "What if Ash is seeing other women?"

May's pale face soon turned to red. "What! How could you come up with something like that? Ash is a sweet and gentle person, he would never do that."

"Sweet and gentle," Apollo said, repeating what May had said, and added his own brand of sarcasm to it. "So sweet and gentle that he lied to the court and attacked a prosecutor."

"You have no proof it was Ash!"

"Both Mr. Uchiha and Mr. Gavin's descriptions match Ash."

"Apollo..." Trucy said as she slid in between the pair of them. "That's enough."

"It's the truth," Apollo insisted. "May needs to hear it. There's something not right about Ash."

"You could at least say it in a way that isn't going to upset her," Trucy said as a request to her brother.

"It's the league!" May said as stood towards Trucy. "That's why he's been out all night. You don't know about the league do you?"

"What league?" Apollo asked.

"The Pokemon League," Trucy responded. She lowered her head. "The pokemon league from Hell."

"I thought that league is meant to be a secret," Apollo said out loud. "How did you two find out about it then?"

"How do YOU know about it?" May directed the question back at Apollo.

"Have you ever heard of Kristoph Gavin?" Apollo asked May as he searched his phone.

May looked at Trucy. "Is he related to Klavier?"

"He is his older brother," Apollo replied. "He was also my mentor before I worked with Mr. Wright."

"So he was a lawyer?" May asked. "Not the one known as the coolest attorney in the west?"

Apollo nodded.

"What's so special about him?"

"He's a demon," Apollo explained. "He's one of the eight dark masters that Ash would have challenged." Apollo gasped and placed his hand on his heart. "This is even worse than sleeping with other women."

"Ash always kept telling me that the dark masters and the elite four were so easy to beat," May said. Apollo was doing his best to look out for her and his sister. But she wasn't sure if there was anything he could do regarding Ash at this point.

"Then what has he been doing in Hell if the battles were less than a few minutes?" Trucy asked.

"Training most likely."

"Kristoph once told me about a dark league of pokemon trainers. He said there can be no winners."

"Ash is facing Hades tonight," May announced. "What do you suppose we do? Should we help him or should we watch Ash perish."

"I don't think there is anything we can do," Apollo admitted.

"We can follow Ash when he leaves," Trucy suggested. "We can see what happens."

"That's too dangerous," Apollo roared. "You have no idea what's it's like down there."

"We've been down there before," Trucy admitted as she patted May's back. "Before The Joker's trial. We went in and tried to rescue Ash from Hell. But it seemed that he didn't need rescuing after all."

"Are you sure that the kidnapping is genuine?"

Trucy shook her head. "To be honest, I think there is some foul play on Ash's part there."

"THAT IS DANGEROUS!" Apollo screamed so loud that ornaments started the jiggle on the table. "YOU COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED! WHAT WOULD MR. WRIGHT SAY?"

"I already know."

It was Phoenix Wright.

"When did you sneak in?" Trucy asked.

"Well nobody responded when I knocked the door, but it was open so I just came in."

"Hello!" A figure jumped out from behind Phoenix. It was Maya Fey, May's aunt.

"Aunt Maya!" May scurried over and hugged her aunt tight. "So good to see you."

"It's good to see you too."

"So what brings you both here?" May asked.

"Maya, Franziska, Edgeworth and I have had a chat with Queen Rayfa and Queen Elodie."

"Really?" May asked. "How was it?"

"Very well," Maya said as he rubbed her stomach. "I'm so full though."

"What was the conversation about?"

"She mainly talked about how much she enjoyed Alola Pride this week," Maya said.

"There's more to it," May confirmed. "The timeline changes, demons being unleashed and Ash changing. They're all connected. Queen Elodie's still meddling with time, and that's how Ash has changed."

Apollo shook his head and pulled a golden device from his neck. "I'm the one that's been meddling with time."

"Why?" May asked.

"I was saving people," Apollo replied. "Queen Rayfa gave me her time-turner. Yeah, I ended up having to stop a big war and also help rescue Klavier from Azkaban prison."

"You've had a rough week then," May said.

As a group, they had dinner and went to bed. May couldn't get any sleep. Ash didn't come back till dawn. The following morning, May decided to follow Ash out that night. Where the path led her horrified her. She walked through hazardous sandstorms just to follow Ash enter a dark colosseum.

May hid carefully to ensure that Ash didn't see her. The chase seemed to last for hours as it leads to a treacherous lair. She wasn't noticed by her love.

"HADES!" Ash cried out. "RULER OF THE UNDERWORLD AND CHAMPION OF THE POKEMON LEAGUE OF HELL! COME ON OUT!"

May gasped. Her mouth dropped open. Her stomach churned as a figure of Hades appeared in front of Ash with his blue fiery hair firing around his face. His golden eyes dazzled as he grinned at Ash.

"You called," Hades said. "It's so good to see you. So what can I do for you? You challenged all the gym leaders and the elite four now, so I suggest you go home."

"You can't push me away forever," Ash announced. "You're the ruler of the underworld, but you're also the Pokemon League Champion." Ash pumped his fists together and pointed at Hades. "I CHALLENGE YOU TO A POKEMON BATTLE."

Hades took a step back and chuckled. His body became circulated in his aqua flames. "Now let's think about this. Are you sure you want to do it. I mean I like you dude, I really wouldn't want to hurt you. You're young and you've got a bright and promising career out of you."

"Are you afraid?" Ash asked in a deep voice.

"Of course I'm not!"

"Then let's have a match!"

"I like your spirit," Hades admitted. Hades summoned a dark pokeball out of his hand and with the flick of his wrist, a black arcanine with three heads made his presence.

The battle seemed to have gone on for hours. At first, Hades had the advantage but when Pikachu was standing on his last leg, he used one mightly thunderbolt to send Arcanine and Hades flying. The roof of the colosseum shattered as a sharp rock stabbed Hades in the chest.

Ash Ketchum had won.

Ash and Pikachu jumped in the air and high fived each other. "WE DID IT PIKACHU! I'M FINALLY A POKEMON MASTER."

"ASH!" May cried out. "Are you alright?"

She dashed over to him and gave him a big hug.

"I've never been better," Ash said with a smirk. "I defeated Hades, the lord of the underworld in a pokemon battle. Wait till I tell the whole world about this." Ash gave May a kiss on the lips which sent May flying off her feet and land onto the rocks. "Huh? May? Are you...AH!"

Suddenly, Ash held onto his stomach and started to scream. He gargled and rolled onto the ground, yelling in pain. May threw herself on the floor and held onto Ash tight.

"ASH? May!" Trucy cried out as she ran into the stadium. She gasped when she found May unconscious on the floor. She ran towards her and picked her up. "Are you okay? What's going on?" She glared at Hades. "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO THEM?"

Hades, bold and quickly beginning to age simply lied down on the floor and smirked. "I've done nothing. This is all Ash's fault."

"What do you mean it's his own fault?" Trucy roared. "May didn't need to get hurt."

"Did your demon family teach you anything?" Hades croaked. "I guess not. You see when the champion of the Pokemon League of Hell is defeated, the former champion perishes and the victor takes his place. And since the champ happens to be me, Prince Of Darkness, he also gets my throne."

"You mean... Ash will be..."

"Now you get it," Hades cackled. "May's precious lover boy will be the new leader of the underworld. If you stick around, you might even get to see the wedding."

May let out a huge gasp as she opened her eyes. "What's happening?" May whispered. She looked up at Trucy who had her in her arms then over to Ash who became unconscious.

"Did you enjoy your trip?" Hades asked May. "At least you woke up in time to see your boyfriend's coronation: he's going to take my place."

"THAT CAN'T BE TRUE!" May yelled with the little energy she had left.

"You've been blind to his evil power for so long. He is so powerful. He would be the perfect new king of the underworld. I can die knowing that Hell is in safe hands. Goodbye May. Goodbye Trucy, sweet noble lady of the underworld."

Little by little, Hades body began to dissolve into little black dots before fading away completely.

May took Ash home into bed, doing her best to nurse the curse out of him, but it was all in vain. One stormy night, Ash vanished and was never to be heard of again. May wondered into the desert one night and found a strange staircase. She tip-toed down the stairs with curiosity and the dark path lead to fiery pit of celebrating demons. They were celebrating the birth of the new age with a new regent.

Surrounded by a pit of lava was a glowing red throne. Sitting on the throne was a young beefy man in black leather jeans and a ruby cape. His abs and maroon tattoos were covered by a pikachu wearing a costume made of bats.

Pikachu's misery and soaked eyes were enough to destroy May's soul. It was just like Hades had said: Ash began his reign as the new king of the underworld. The winner of the Pokemon League of Hell is also considered the sovereign king of the underworld.

As the new champion and king, it is Ash had absolute control over the demon pokemon and their trainers. He also vowed to seek wrath on sinful trainers and those that abuse pokemon for profit and pleasure.

One lonely night, May's guardian angel, Albus Dumbledore came to give her comfort.

"Nobody could have predicted Ash's fate," he said to her. "He started off as a pure boy, but the evil influences of the world were too much for him."

"This is all my fault," May said with her head in her hands. "If only I had gotten their sooner or encouraged Ash to walk away from it all."

"None of this is your fault," Dumbledore confirmed. "There was nothing you could have done. He had already made up his mind. Ash accomplished his goal of being a pokemon master. And a pokemon champion of hell, he is also expected to rule Hell."

"How can I bring him back?"

"Ash will reign in Hell for all eternity," Dumbledore replied. "I cannot say if this is a blessing or a curse. Either way, it is permanent until such a time comes to when somebody takes his place."

"Do you think that might have been why Apollo meddled with time?"

"Apollo's been a very busy time. I can tell you that he tried to stop it from happening and endured many alternate timelines just keep his friends happy."

"He was trying to save him?"

"Yes," Dumbledore said. "I don't know if you'll be able to see Ash again, but remember this May, you have many people on this earth that love you for who you are. Don't lose your way the way Ash did. Remember him for who he was and not what he became. It does not do to dwell on dreams."

And thus the underworld bowed to Ash.
