"I would like to alter the conditions of our ah…trial run."
Kuronue was giving him a curious look, but Kagome seemed to be expecting it. "Are you sure?"
He acquiesced with a slight dip of his head. "Reflecting upon it, there is little sense in this excursion if you feel you must hide yourself from me."
She grinned wryly. "If it helps, I'm rarely able to purify without my bow and arrows."
Kuronue piped in. "Rarely?"
"Depending on what's at stake…sometimes it changes."
As they let that settle in, she amended. "I have never harmed my friends."
When Kuronue merely scoffed, Kagome sent Youko a questioning look. "You did not tell him?"
He shrugged. "It is not my story to tell."
This pleased her, a grateful smile blossoming on her face. She turned to his friend then, who was looking at both of them curiously. "I travel with two humans, a monk and a taijiya," she carefully explained "as well as a fox kit, a dog demon, and a fire-cat."
"And she is allied with the head of a wolf tribe," Youko interjected, upon seeing her ease at sharing at least this "although she will not tell me which one."
Kuronue blinked slowly at them, his brows furrowing with each passing second. "You…wait ––what?"
Her smile grew. "I'm not a very good priestess."
