She flushed in embarrassment before frowning up at him. "Then why, Miroku, why?"

He took a deep breath before releasing it slowly. "The reason I have been gone so frequently and for extended amount of time is because," He paused to gather the courage to meet her concerned brown orbs. "I cannot find work to provide for us. I do whatever I can, but there isn't much for a monk."

She blinked up at him. "That is why you are always gone?"

He nodded. "Yes, I never want to come home empty handed, so I do not leave without something."
