Chapter 2: a friend of the rain

After a while, Juvia finally lets go of Gray and settled for cuddling with him as they walked, much to Gray's displeasure. The two walked into a small, semi-fancy looking restaurant. "Well I'll be, Gray is that you?" a waitress with short brown hair and hazel eyes asked cheerfully.

"Oh, hello Kathy." Gray greeted the waitress nonchalantly, while Juvia glared at her.

"Wow, it's been a while since you were here last," Kathy said before noticing Juvia. "Oh, and who is this girl with you? Your girlfriend?" she teased making them blush.

"It's not like that." Gray denied as he looked away. Kathy giggled. "Don't you have work to do or something?" Gray asked in irritation.

"Well as a matter of fact I do," Kathy said before walking off. Gray shook his head and lead Juvia to a booth by the window, his usual one already taken. They sat down across from each other as another waitress walked over with the menus. She had brown hair with a blue streak in it and green eyes.

"Good afternoon Gray." She greeted causing Juvia to glare at her.

"Good afternoon Emilia." Gray greeted.

"Do you want your usual today?" Emilia asked with a smile. Juvia sunk down as she glared at the waitress, her hands tightly gripping the side of the table.

"Yeah, in fact, double that order," Gray replied. Emilia wrote down the meal and glanced back at him.

"What about your drink?" Emilia asked.

"One iced coffee and one grey tea." He replied. Juvia looked up in surprise. She should feel happy about the fact that he knew what to get her, and in a way she was, but she just couldn't get over her jealousy. Emilia nodded, jotted down the drinks, and left.

"Gray-sama seems to come here often," Juvia stated, trying to hide how upset she was about the familiarity these girls had with Gray.

"Hm yeah, I guess so. This place has excellent food, great service, and low prices so I come by whenever I run out of food at my place or I just need a quick meal." Gray said as he absentmindedly tugged off his shirt. Hearing this Juvia relaxed a little, however, she tensed up again when Gray stripped his shirt.

"Gray-sama you're doing it again!" Juvia cried out in warning, blushing. Gray looked quizzically at her before looking down and realizing he had taken his shirt off.

"Shit! Not again!" He cursed and immediately put his shirt back on. Juvia giggled as a slight blush made its way onto Gray's face. 'Damn Ur, this is your fault, making me train half naked in the snow.' Gray thought although, not angrily. Juvia sighed contently and looked around the restaurant. The walls were an icy blue with a beautiful snowy design on them. The floor was carpeted and hanging on the walls were beautifully framed pictures of winter activities.

'I can see why Gray-sama comes here so often.' Juvia thought with a smile.

"Nice isn't it?" Gray asked, startling Juvia and dragging her from her thoughts.

"Um yes Juvia thinks it's very beautiful!" she replied with a smile.

"I thought you would like it," Gray said so quietly Juvia almost didn't hear it. In fact, she believed that it was her mind playing tricks on her.

"Gray-sama?" Juvia called questioningly.

"Yeah?" He responded in question.

"Juvia is curious. What is Gray-sama's usual meal here?" Juvia asked.

"Huh? Oh, my usual here is there signature tuna pasta salad and a caramade frank." He answered. "It's strange because I really don't like tuna." He laughed, making Juvia swoon. Just then Emilia came back with their drinks and set it down in front of them.

"Your food will be out shortly." She informed them.

"Alright, thanks," Gray responded before Emilia walked off.

And like she promised Emilia returned shortly with their meal. "Here you go two signature tuna pasta salads and two caramade franks," Emilia announced cheerfully and placed the food down in front of them. Emilia stood up straight, "is there anything else you two need?" she asked. Gray looked at Juvia who shook her head no and then back at Emilia.

"No, I think we're good for now." He answered. Emilia smiled.

"Alright then, just call me if you need anything." She said before walking away. The two ate their meal and talked about the jobs they had been on recently.

"So the bottom line is Flame brain destroyed half the town and we ended up not getting a single jewel," Gray told Juvia who was sipping her tea.

"Poor Lucy, maybe she should try teaming up with someone else every once in a while," Juvia commented, Gray, nodding in agreement. Just then Juvia heard a familiar voice behind her.

"Hey Jess, Kristine, how's it going today?" Juvia heard the familiar voice ask. Juvia turned around in her seat and saw Ayaka talking with a red-headed Waitress and a blonde cashier, beside her stood Dominic.

"Business is booming today." The blonde, Kristine, replied.

"And how is the staff handling it?" Ayaka asked.

"Fast and efficient." The redhead, Jess, replied proudly. Ayaka smiled,

"I'm glad to hear it." She said.

"Ayaka," Dominic called, grabbing Ayaka's attention.

"Hm?" Ayaka questioned as she looked at him.

"You wanted to remind them of something." He hinted quietly. Ayaka looked at him in confusion for a few seconds before realization dawned on her.

"oh yeah I almost forgot!" she announced. Ayaka smiled at Dominic, "thanks for reminding Me." she said.

"No problem," Dominic said nonchalantly.

"Huh? What's up?" Kristine asked. Ayaka looked at her seriously.

"I wanted to remind you to close a few hours early today because of the festival fairy tail is holding tonight," Ayaka told her.

"Oh, shoot is that today?! I can't believe I forgot!" Jess cried out mentally berating herself.

"It's a good thing I came by then," Ayaka said with a giggle. Just then Ayaka looked off to the side and spotted Juvia staring at her. "JUVY!" Ayaka squealed happily and quickly made her way over. Juvia smiled and stood up out of the booth. She was then tackled into a hug by Ayaka. Juvia laughed.

"Juvia is happy to see Aya too." She said returning the hug. Ayaka pulled back and beamed brightly at her friend.

"Oh, Juvy it's so good to see you!" Ayaka said, "how have you been?!" she asked.

"Juvia has been doing well." Juvia answered, "what about Aya? How has Aya been?" she asked.

"Oh, you know the usual," Ayaka replied as she let go of Juvia.

"Busy Huh?" Juvia guessed and Ayaka nodded in response.

"You're not going to tell her what she missed, the seven years she was gone?" Dominic asked Ayaka as he came up behind her.

"Huh? What is he talking about?" Juvia asked her friend. Ayaka blushed, clasped her hands behind her back, and looked down. Now Juvia was curious, Ayaka didn't get flustered too often.

"Well, a year after you and your friends were declared missing, Dominic and I kind of got together." Ayaka started. "By the end of the second year, he proposed to me and a few months after our wedding I learned that I was pregnant." She continued. "Several months later I gave birth to twin boys." She concluded with a smile. Juvia stood speechless for a few seconds before she squealed and hugged Ayaka,

"Oh, congratulations! Juvia is so happy for Aya and Dominic!" she announced. She then pulled back from the hug and looked at her slightly embarrassed friend. "Tell Juvia, what their names are?" she asked excitedly.

"Fenrir and Ferreth," Ayaka answered.

"Her choice in names astonishes me," Dominic commented playfully causing Ayaka to turn and glare at him.

"Oh hush." She retorted with an angry pout. Juvia giggled as Dominic awkwardly apologized in a hushed tone.

"Aya never changes," Juvia said suddenly causing the two to look at her. Ayaka didn't know how to respond so she just smiled and laughed. She then spotted Gray who sat awkwardly in the booth, shirtless.

"Who is the shirtless guy with you?" Ayaka asked. Upon hearing the word Shirtless Gray panicked and looked around frantically for his missing shirt.

"Shit where did it go?!" he cursed in frustration, Ayaka and Dominic sweat dropped while Juvia swooned.

"That is Gray-sama." She replied wistfully. Ayaka noticed and a hint of understanding shined in her eyes.

"-sama huh? That's an interesting honorific." Ayaka teased, making Juvia blush.

"Hah! Found it!" Gray announced as he found his shirt and put it back on. Ayaka giggled and leaned in towards Juvia's ear.

"Think he's the one?" Ayaka asked knowingly.

"J-Juvia thinks so." She replied quietly. This struck Ayaka as odd.

"Think?" she questioned.

"Juvia is confused she likes Gray-sama, but he usually ignores her. However, his Friend Lyon-san likes Juvia and there are times Juvia likes him too." She explained.

'Hm, that's an interesting development indeed.' Ayaka thought. Gray cleared his throat, grabbing the two girl's attention.

"I'm sorry to ruin this touching reunion but would you mind filling me in Juvia?" Gray questioned, tired of being ignored.

"Oh, Juvia is sorry Gray-sama." She apologized. "Gray-sama this is an old friend of Juvia's. Her name is Ayaka and beside her is…"

Gray cut her off, "Dominic, I know." He said. "Good to see you again man, congrats on the marriage and kids," Gray said to the fire and lightning dragon slayer. He then looked at Ayaka, "it's nice to meet you Ayaka. Any friend of Juvia's is a friend of mine." He said with a small smile.

"Awe same here," Ayaka responded cheerfully.

"Ayaka, I too would love to stay and chat but we need to get going," Dominic said with urgency. Ayaka pouted and turned back to Juvia. She then flicked her wrist and held out some cards towards Juvia. Juvia, already use to her doing this before she leaves, picked a random card from her hand. With another flick of her wrist, the cards vanished and she looked at Juvia's card.

"You will be reunited with old loved ones, but beware the danger hidden in the shadows," Ayaka said with a confused look on her face. "I don't like that fortune." She said as she put away the card. "Be careful out there Juvy," Ayaka advised as she turned to leave.

"Juvia will don't worry," Juvia responded and watched as the couple left hand in hand. As they left Juvia remembered her talking about a festival that fairy tail was throwing tonight.

'What festival would they be having? It's not time for the Fantasia parade or anything.' Juvia asked herself. 'Hm, maybe Gray-sama knows.' She thought as she looked at him. "Hey, Gray-sama" Juvia called as he turned his head to look at her.

"Sup?" he wondered.

"Juvia heard Ayaka say that fairy tail was having a festival tonight. Does Gray-sama know anything about that?" she asked.

"Oh yeah, last week the master announced that we were going to have a festival in honor of an old friend who is coming to visit," Gray told her. "Didn't anyone tell you about it when you got back from your last job?" Gray asked. Juvia shook her head no in response. "Oh well, I guess the only thing you really need to know is that the festival starts at seven," Gray informed as he got up.

"Gray-sama, Juvia is going to go see Lucy now," Juvia told him. "Juvia enjoyed having lunch with Gray-sama and hopes they can enjoy lunch together again some time." She added with a bright smile. Gray smiled back.

"yeah, we'll definitely have to do this again some time." He said.

With that, the two went their separate ways. Juvia rushed towards Lucy's place and knocked on her door. Lucy opened the door and smiled when she saw Juvia. "Hey Juvia what are you doing here?" Lucy asked.

"Juvia needs Lucy's help getting ready for the festival that no one told her about," Juvia explained quickly.

"Well don't just stand there, let's go, we have to find you something to wear!" Lucy said, shutting her door and then dragging Juvia out with her.

The two searched long and hard for a dress and some accessories to go with it. By the time they were done shopping it was five o' clock. They raced back to Lucy's place to get ready out of convenience. Thankfully with the help of Cancer, Luna, and Night they were able to get ready by six thirty.

"There now you're perfect," Lucy said as she put the finishing touches on Juvia's makeup. "Thanks for holding the makeup while I worked Luna, Night," Lucy said as she took her makeup and put it back up.

"No problem we're always happy to help," Luna said cheerfully, Night nodding his head in agreement beside her. Lucy looked at the time.

"Shoot we only have thirty minutes to get to the guild before it starts!" Lucy freaked grabbing Juvia and rushing out of her apartment; her two exceeds followed close behind them. By 6:45 they walked into the guild where Luna and Night snuck off with the other exceeds, and the girls were greeted by Freed.

"Hey glad you could make it before we started the festival." He said as he approached them.

"Would have been here sooner if Mira had remembered to tell Juvia about the festival," Lucy muttered loud enough for Freed to hear. Freed smiled.

"well then I guess Mira has already received her punishment." he laughed. Juvia looked at him quizzically.

"What does Freed mean?" Juvia asked.

"Kyte's last suit no longer fit him so Mira had to go last minute shopping and buy him a new one," Freed explained. "In fact, she is upstairs helping him with his tie right now." He added.

"Well, you know the saying Freed, what goes around comes around." Lucy laughed.

"Indeed it does." Freed agreed solemnly.

"Hey dad!" a young boy called from behind Freed. Freed turned to look at the boy and smiled.

"ah, there you are Sigurd I was looking for you." He said. Sigurd, one of Freed and Mira's sons, walked up to the three with a stoic expression on his face. Sigurd had his father's personality and good looks, and his mother's white hair and blue eyes. He was a prodigy like Ayaka and as strong as his mother (and he's only eight!). Usually, Sigurd wore a black long sleeve shirt with black pants and a silver chained necklace with a lacrama shard hanging from it. However, right now he was wearing a black suit with a red dress shirt, the top three buttons left undone, and his usual necklace. "Where's your tie?" Freed asked his son.

"I was hoping you knew," Sigurd replied with a sigh. Sigurd then looked at Lucy and Juvia. He smiled charmingly at them, "good evening Lucy-san, Juvia-san." He greeted.

"Good evening Sigurd." They greeted in unison, smiles on their face.

"Juvia thinks Sigurd looks handsome in his suit." Juvia complemented. Sigurd blushed slightly and muttered a quiet thank you. Lucy smiled at the boy before spotting Natsu and Gray.

"It was nice talking to you both but we're going to go over and talk to Natsu and Gray for a while," Lucy said. Freed nodded in understanding.

"Ok talk to you later then, Lucy-san, Juvia-san," Sigurd said with a wave. Lucy and Juvia then made their way over to the boys who were arguing loudly over something stupid.

"Hey Natsu, Gray." Lucy greeted happily. The two boys stopped their arguing and turned to look at Lucy and Juvia. And man were they shocked by what they saw.

Juvia was wearing a sexy, light sky blue, satin dress with a halter neckline decorated with beautiful jewels. She also wore a silver chained, blue Swarovski butterfly crystal necklace with matching earrings. Lucy was wearing a short sexy black strapless dress with beads dotting the top part in a night sky kind of pattern. She also wore a heart-shaped, black diamond, crystal necklace and a pair of Alexandrite earrings. "I'd stop gawking if I were you two." Two young girls teased as they walked by. The girls were Ikaria and Rita, two strong new members of fairy tale and close friends of Sigurd and Kyte.

Natsu and Gray looked away, a slight blush making its way to their faces. 'Oh Mavis, my beloved Gray-sama looked at me and is now blushing. Could tonight be the night he finally notices me?' Juvia thought. She then started daydreaming about the most romantic outcomes. Lucy noticed Juvia's dazed and happy expression, watching as she swayed side to side. She giggled, for she knew that Juvia was once again thinking about herself with Gray.

'She's probably thinking of how many babies they'll have together.' Lucy thought.

"But mom!" a young boy whined loudly from the top of the stairs. Everyone looked to see Mira walking down the stairs with a reluctant and pouting boy behind her. As Mira reached the bottom of the stairs she turned and looked at the boy.

"No buts Kyte, You will wear a nice suit like everyone else," Mira said with a stern voice. "Do I make myself clear?" Mira asked in a tone that left no room for discussion. Kyte looked at his father with pleading eyes. Freed shook his head, he knew better than to argue with Mira when she spoke in her she-devil tone of voice, and he was not looking to die tonight by the hands of his own wife.

'Sorry, my boy but you're on your own this time.' He thought, looking sympathetically up at his other son, Sigurd's fraternal twin brother. Unlike his brother, Sigurd, Kyte looked more like his mother. His features were softer and more childlike, making him look much younger than he was, however, he had his father's green hair and eyes. Like his brother, Kyte was quite talented with magic but he wasn't nearly as strong.

Kyte groaned and looked back at his mother. "Yes, mam." He mumbled and looked at his feet. Sigurd looked up at his brother and shook his head.

'That silly little brother of mine, he should have known better than to try and argue with mom.' He thought. "Good," Mira said as she let Kyte past her. "Now don't ruin that suit." She warned as he ran off towards his brother.

Juvia stared at the two boys as they ran off to talk with their friends. 'I hope that one day I will have some children like Mira and Ayaka do.' Juvia prayed silently. Her mind then thought about the possibility of little Gray's running around the guild.

'kawaii!' Juvia mentally squealed. Everything was going as planned and the guild was as excited as ever about the festival. However, hidden in the darkest shadows of the guild someone menacing was watching them, more specifically Juvia.

What kind of danger awaits our heroes? Who was watching them and why were they so focused on Juvia? Find out… uh normally people say next time but I don't think I'll answer those questions in the next chapter. So um you know just stay tuned, yeah that works. Well, that's it for this chapter. So what did you guys think, let me know ok?

Sigurd: please review for Demon's sake. She works so hard for her readers, so let her know you appreciate it.

Kyte: goodbye now!
