"So…the Western Clans."

He glared at the fox, though the effect was diminished somewhat by the fact that he needed to crane his head over his shoulder to even see the two following him. It seemed invitation enough for the kitsune to approach him, maintaining eye contact. Fucking foxes…as if just a brat wasn't bad enough. The kitsune's tail swished side to side, belying the patience his expression showed. Inuyasha wasn't always the quickest in the group but even he could recognize the look on Youko's face.

Like the monk when he plans on swindling us a room somewhere. It wasn't comforting. Kagome really needed to stop taking in strays. Just because she could attract people to her side don't mean she should.

Especially these lunatic pretty boys…Kouga was more than enough trouble.

"What of it?" he asked.

"You're clearly from there."

"And?"

"And," he drawled, "you seem to claim solidarity. From a powerful land. Why?"

Inuyasha thought of lost arms and fangs oozing with poison, dripping with disdain, thought of his childhood and all the reasons he'd indulged Kagome on this stupid vacation without more of a fight…and then he snorted. "Yeah, I ain't gonna tell you that."

"Ah…you were abandoned?"

"I left."
