"Oi, woman."
"Oi, man."
Inuyasha snickered instead of scowled, so Kagome was going to continue to believe he wasn't still pissed off over the entire last week. When she turned around to face him, detered slightly by the full weight of Shippo in her lap, he was all but looming over her.
"Hey there Inuyasha. Where's Youko and Kuronue?" It was pointless, since she'd known from the moment he'd approached that there weren't any other energies with him, but still. It was the principle of the thing.
"They're comin'. Has everyone agreed to this stupid side-show of yours?"
Okay, maybe he wasn't forgiving, but he was tolerating. Probably. Kagome looked back at the other two figures huddled around the fire, their eyes steady on her. Sango hadn't liked any part of any of it, but once Miroku had agreed ("It'll be a good exploration opportunity," he'd said, grinning all the while) she had as well.
She nodded. "Yeah. They trust me and I," she looked back up to him "well, I trust Youko."
One scowl and she knew that she might well be the only one who did. Still, Inuyasha crouched next to her, his knee nudging her shoulder, and stuck a hand in the inner pocket of his shirt. When he pulled it out and draped the necklace around her, claws soft against the skin of her collarbone, she knew that at the very least he wasn't holding a grudge.
"Well then," he said, "it's about time you got this back."
The jewel flared pink, a roaring wave of energy that flowed directly into her, and settled into the thrum of her skin. Kagome smiled, lifting her free hand to toy at the shikon. Gods, I never thought I'd miss this thing.
