"She is reckless."

"She has bravado," Youko countered, "and powerful allies."

"And dangerous foes…Naraku is a myth even the most secluded of clans have heard of. You catch his attention and risk immense peril."

"It's a gamble!" Youko agreed blithely. "But imagine the payoff!"

"I'm imagining the fallout."

Youko considered the pack—a half-breed with connections in high places, a kit with motivation, two humans whose training lent itself towards advantages in a fight, and their feline companion. They all seemed painfully mortal.

"A bad investment then?"

Kuronue carded a hand through his hair. "A…risky one. You must be certain."

"My friend, think of her legend if they succeed. A motley crew who goes up against infamous evil…and wins. She'll be the priestess of the complete shikon no tama, a jewel with a name on its own right. She will be a living legend!"

Kuronue hissed a harried reprimand at the volume of Youko's proclamations, but all around them the group slumbered on. It further confirmed his thoughts.

"If she lives." He said.

"She must," Youko agreed. "A priestess born and raised with a jewel of unmeasurable strength inside her, who is equal to both demons and humans alike…"

"Your mother would be hard pressed to find one like her."

"There is no other like her." Youko curled closer to his friend, considering his options. "If she has become a riskier choice then we merely have to increase her protection."
