Quarter Sixteen

"Please tell me what to do…"

"Hello everyone! My name is Nina Stadfeld I grew up in LA and I am Taiga's fiancee…" With her sudden declaration the other students started to whisper to each other. Kouki couldn't look in front of the class but he could certainly see the triumphant smirk Nina's giving his way. Her sudden arrival as their classmate and announcement of her engagement with Kagami to the whole class shook his very core his hand on top of his lap started to shake.

"Okay class keep quiet…" Their sensei tried to silence the class but almost half of the class moan in disappointment eager to know about their new transfer student. Their sensei sighed, "Fine ask Stadfeld about her but keep it brief we need to start class soon." he reminded the class.

"Yes, sensei!"

"So, any questions?" Nina beams confidently asked to the class.

"Are you half-american?"

"Yes, my dad is american my mom is Japanese." Nina answers.

"How's it living there?"

"It was good there are lots of benefits but it is still different here in Japan and of course Taiga is here so Japan is much better than LA…" her answer earns her a squeal from their girl classmates to which she was visibly please.

"Is Kagami really you're fiancee?"

"Yep, Taiga is my fiancee…" Nina answers with all smiles then turn to the red head at the end of the room waving at him, "Hey Taiga!" the girls in class squeal again.

"Okay everyone that's the end of that let's start class…Stadfeld there's an empty seat next to Furihata,"

Furihata jumps on his seat as their sensei called his name.

"Furihata as the class representative be kind and show Stadfeld around the school."

Kouki looks up to see Nina looks at him with an unreadable look on her face at first but then when their eyes met she gave her an unsettling smile. He watch Nina as she walks towards her seat and once she got close she stop in front of his desk.

"Thanks Furi-chan I'm looking forward on spending the day with you."

"M-Me too..."

"What are you doing here Nina," Kagami ask Nina once they got out of the class.

"Well…to be with you, Taiga," Nina said like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Stop bull shitting me Nina." Kagami glared at the two girls whispering at each other behind his childhood friend. "What are you two looking at?" he said chasing the two girls away.

"Don't get so mad Taiga~…" Nina playfully said while her finger tracing an invisible line on the red head's chest. "You'll get wrinkles early you're still just sixteen you know."

"Stop that…" Kagami brush Nina's hand away.

"What's making you so agitated Taiga…" Nina huffed.

"Then answer the freaking question Nina."

"You really want an answer Taiga?" Nina said as she looks straight at the red head.

"What?!" Taiga snapped impatiently but even before he can comprehend what's happening he felt a kiss being place on his cheek. "W-What the…what are you…"

"Hey Furi-chan!" Nina called out excitedly to the brunette's who's standing behind the red head.

"K-Kouki, this is not…."

Hurt, Kouki looks away from Kagami.

"U-Uhm, I-if you're ready Nina-san w-we can start the tour." Kouki stuttered a bit.

"Sure, let's go…see you later Taigaaa~…" Nina said following the brunette.

"Shit," Kagami cursed, this is the worst. Nina had done it on purpose he's sure of it.

"Kagami-kun." Kuroko called out to him.

"Tell me Kuroko…what should I do?" Honestly, he really doesn't know what to do…

Seeing Nina and Kagami kissed earlier was the worst thing, he knows whoever Kagami kiss wasn't his business but it still hurt… he clutches the hem of his uniform squeezing it like an invisible force squeezing his heart.

"So, we aren't really going to tour around the school right, Furi-chan?" Kouki stop on his tracks and turn to look at Nina who's giving him a stern look of his face, "W-What do you mean Nina-san?" he asked, he doesn't know why she treats him like this. He makes sure that he stay away from Kagami but still the way she treats her its as if he was like a bug that needs squashing.

"You heard my announcement to the whole class right Furi-chan…"

"E-Everyone did, Nina-san…"

"Then its loud and clear, Taiga is mine and for you to hope for something impossible is useless…" Nina said as she closes her distance between her and the brunette.

"W-What do you mean Nina-san…I…"

"Stop acting so clueless all the time…if I ever see you together with him or even talk to him I'll make sure to let you know who're you dealing with…I mean it Furi-chan stay away from Taiga…you can't take him away from me…I am a girl and you're not I am right for him you're not…"

"P-Please N-Nina-san stop talking like that I…" Kouki tried to explain himself but Nina had cut him off.

"I hope you still remember what I told you before when we met the last time? I'll really spread those photos and you will never like the end results of it. You don't want your dear 'Kagami-kun's to get shamed because of it, right? Furi-chan…" Nina taunted, with that she left.

"What should I do? Someone please tell me what to do…"

After that day Nina's announcement spread like wildfire at the entire school and ever since then Kouki tried his best to stay away from Kagami it wasn't a hard task to do since the whole team are busy practicing for the semi finals. There's really no time for he and Kagami to talk it was easy since he didn't have to obviously avoid him and get confronted for it. And ever since then Nina has start to hang out around Kagami and the team often.

"So let's go to Maji?" Izuki asked the whole team.

"Yep we'll go with you Izuki!" Koga said then turn to Mitobe who nodded 'yes' at his best friend.

"What about you, Hyuga?" Tsucchi asked their captain.

"Yeah sure why not." Hyuga shrugged, "As long as Izuki is paying." he laugh as Izuki visibly shivered.

"What about you Kuroko and Kagami?" The team turn to the freshman duo.

"Yes, I'll come I like their vanilla milk shake there what about you Kagami-kun?" Kuroko turn to ask his light.

"Well I..." Kagami was about to decline when Nina pounce at him like a cat and link their arms together.

"Yep, of course we'll come, right Taiga?!" Nina said excitedly.

"W-What the...let go off me Nina." Kagami said trying to get Nina's off him.

"Oh come on Taiga don't get all shy on me now." Nina teased.

"Oh Furi!" Izuki called out to his kouhai.

As if completely forgetting his ordeal with Nina, Kagami turn to look at the brunette. Kouki looks uncomfortable at first but eventually he smiled at Izuki.

"I'd like to...but I can't I still have work after this so please enjoy your time there for me." Kouki said politely.

"Work at Thursday night? You don't have one today." Kagami commented making the entire seirin basketball gawked at him (excluding Kuroko and Nina)

Kouki bit his lip, caught on lie ever since that night Kagami had told him he doesn't want him to go home alone after work at night Kagami had always go home together Kagami had already used to his schedule.

"U-Uh...I...I have a new work s-so I...really can't go with everyone today."

"Kouki can we-..." Kagami couldn't finish what he was about to say when Nina cut him off.

"Well then Furi-chan maybe you can join us next time, I feel bad you can't come with us but we can't do anything about it...we'll make sure that we eat extra burgers for you, right Taigaaaa~..."

"P-Please do that..." Kouki said quietly.

"Let's go Taigaaa~" Nina started pulling on Kagami's arm.

"Nina...don't..."

"Let's go feed me now I'm hungry..." Kouki looks away as Kagami and Nina had passed by him.

After a few more hours staying back in school after the whole team had gone home Kouki decided its time for him to go home as well he sighed closing the door of the gym when he heard a wrapper being unwrapped.

"You sure take your time in there."

Kouki stood still, that voice...its Kagami but...why is he back in school?

"The burgers are waiting for you to eat them, you know..." Kouki slowly turn to face the red head holding a bag of Maji burger on his arm.

"W-What are you doing here Kagami-kun?" He asked, he's supposed to be with everyone else, with Nina his fiancee.

"Ain't it obvious? For you that's why." Kagami shrugged. "Want some burgers? I bought you one." he offered.

"I'm fine." Kouki looks away.

"It's not fine, go on and eat I bought a burger meal for you."

"I did not ask you to.."

"I know but I wanna take care of you."

Kouki blush at Kagami's words, "Y-You don't have to..."

"But I want to..."

"You should take care of Nina-san instead."

"Why should I take care of her?" Kagami asked as he slowly walks closer to Kouki.

"Because she's your fiancee..."

"She's not my fiancee."

"That's not what she said..." Kouki gasp as his back collided on the gym door.

"I don't care what she said..what matters are what I said and I said she wasn't my fiancee because you're the one I love." Kouki's hazel eyes widen in surprise at Kagami's words.

"L-Love?" Kouki repeated the red head's words.

"Yes."

"And I know you feel the same way with me..."

"K-Kagami-kun...I..."

"Kouki..."

"A-Akashi-kun?"
