"You're going to…track me?"
Youko nodded. At Kagome's back, Kuronue sighed heavily. "Phrase it better than that," he complained, fingers twisting Kagome's hair into complicated patterns.
Shippo, in her lap, watched in abject fascination. Kagome wasn't sure which would be worse—having to explain this to Inuyasha or having to get Shippo to let her explain it.
"I wish to leave one of my plants with you," he explained, holding up the flower in question—it was a beautiful shade of silver, as if moonlight had been caught in the petals. "It will tell me where you are so that I can come and go when possible."
"And this way your mother won't be able to find me?"
"Yes."
"And then you can…train me?"
He grinned. "It'll be perfect! I am the very best with soul manipulations, and your soul is what is so extraordinary about you. Your powers and your…uniqueness, they come from that same place. You said you don't want protection—"
"I don't." she insisted. Shippo burrowed deeper into her lap.
"—so I offer you your strength instead."
